The owner Sandee holds open paint time in addition to the scheduled classes she teaches and parties she hosts (up to twenty people). Working with many people who vary in artistic abilities, she is personable, flexible, and helpful. We are novice painters, and we chose open paint time and decided just to have fun with it. Sandee was extremely accomodating and encouraged us to use her own pieces of art for inspiration. Although she wasn't teaching, Sandee answered our questions and provided us with practical tips. Currently, this is a BYOB establishment, but she talked about waiting on a liquor license to connect to the bar she owns next door. Overall, we had a great time and look forward to coming back again!

It was a cold evening and door was locked and despite there being three people inside (2 were owners, and the other was a frequent customer) they did not unlock the door until right after 6:00 PM to let us in. They turned and looked towards the door when we tried to open it but didn't come let us in. We just stood outside, in the cold, just waiting. If we hadn't prepaid, we would have left. At times owner was very nice, at other times it appeared she got irritated with something we did she didn't like. She spent too much time talking about the stains. Which we could have used that time on the back end. One time she didn't like how I was applying the paint (although the way I was applying in the end looked better and had no bleeding). Another time I was going to slow. Sped up and wasn't happy with my coloring. And definitely don't apply too my paint. We wanted a solid color, which needed more paint to not have the wood show through. Well... my Mom needed more paint and she felt like the owner did not like that. Then it took longer for it to dry, owner commented on that too. Even ran her finger over paint one time, and then ran her finger over the paper on the table right in front of Mom, to show the paint, still wet, and walked away. I found that rude. Once we could proceed with Mom's sign, we felt rushed. Every though the owner commented there was no rush, since other lady present finished her sign and left. Well, thought that statement was funny, since up to that point, we felt rushed. At the end, we did have a lot of touch ups to fix because, she didn't think we were applying paint right, and doing her way, was too much and we had spreading. Then she quickly pulled off pattern, and probably should have done that slower. She wasn't even present when we left. She had spent a lot of time that evening setting up for the next day. She was in back when we left and her husband was out with us. Did I end up with a cool sign... definitely.. but that was because of me, But part of this place is the experience, and that was lacking. Would I visit a board and brush again, definitely. Would I visit this location? No.

Right when you park, you'll see a large area to buy goodies (pies, cookies, produce), you'll see animals to pet, and then blueberries to pick. We went in late July and the berries were abundant (and delicious). We definitely tried our way through some favorites and then picked entirely too many. We ended up eating most and adding tons to blueberry pancakes over our vacation weekend in South Haven. Can't remember the exact prices but cheaper than I've paid for berries all summer, I know that much. And we ALWAYS have blueberries in the house. Also loved the super sweet blueberry lemon sugar cookie that they had in their shop, and felt welcome by the friendly staff. Lastly, speaking to how close everything is both on the farm and off; this is quite close to downtown South Haven when driving, but still feels way out in the country. It's a perfect combo, IMO, and we'd come back again and again if we lived near here.

When we arrived today we were pretty bummed that bumbleberry changed how they run the farm. We used to be able to give everyone a bucket and then the blueberries would be weighed and we would take them home. Now, be prepared to pay 12 dollars a bucket(you get to keep it). It's not the same experience when you are walking to the fields and the entire family needs to share a single bucket. We also adored the low key barrel ride. I believe it was about 5 dollars a ticket in the past. Now, you must pay 12 dollars per child plus 5 dollars per adult to watch your child play and go on a barrel ride. The petting zoo, bumbleberry chair, tire castle, everything is gated off. We passed and noticed most families did the same. This would have cost our crew 45 dollars for one ride (two toddlers, 4 adults). What was once a quaint family farm now feels off. We will be picking somewhere else next year.

When we arrived we found arrived we found a very pleasant market/sales location. We went inside and found plenty of things for sale. Pies, cakes and other baked goods. The place reminded me of an old time market/store. Tastefully decorated and a very country/down home feel. We were directed towards the back to the refrigerated blueberries and other delicious looking items. We found our blueberries and were checked out by a very pleasant sales person. We surly will be back to such a pleasant location next time we need seasonal fruit!

Fun in the sun and a pile of fruit to boot!…read more So after another Reits run, the three of us (me, S, and my niece) decided that we'd had enough digging around looking for books and toys, but we really didn't want to go home yet. That was when S had a great idea- go pick strawberries! U-Pick fruit places are everywhere around here, and we've both got good memories of heading to Fritz's U-Pick out near Gobles when we were younger. So a quick search on Yelp turned up this place, and it was actually convenient to get to- it was on the way back from Reits. Pulling in, we were greeted with a field full of cars, and a massive strawberry field- with lots of other people here! The way it works is rather simple- you get a big container and a few little ones, and you go up and down the rows of strawberry plants looking for ripe red berries to pick while avoiding the rotten ones, the green ones, and the damaged ones. When you've picked enough (whether because your carrier is full or your back says "no more" doesn't matter), you carry the strawberries up to the hut where they're weighed and you pay for them. Then you take them to your vehicle and go on your way. It's a lot of fun, and my niece had a blast helping us dig for yummy fruit, and spending some time outside instead of watching television all day is always good. There are a few caveats- this is physical activity, so be prepared to get down and dirty. The majority of the berries are deep under the leaves, so you might have to kneel or sit in the moist dirt. Wear stuff you don't mind getting dirty. There are bees about- just give them space if you have to. It also gets pretty hot, so take precautions on sunny days! The berries here won't be as big, as uniform in flavor or in color as the ones you find at the Wal-Mart/Meijer's/local grocery. If you're looking for strawberries just to eat, be aware that you might get some sour ones- but if you're going to do things like make jelly or jam, make some strawberry pie or shortcake, or whatever, this place will suit your needs perfectly! If you don't feel like picking them yourself, you can buy them for about three bucks and change a pound (u-pick are about two bucks a pound). This is a great place to spend a few hours! We'll be back again!
