I brought up Wine By the Bay a couple months back on the "What's New" Talk Thread when I noticed it'a construction while downtown for a meeting. When Will J beat me to the First to Review, I figured I was slacking off and rushed from Hialeah to review it. Walking out with a package of Buffalo Mozarella and bottle of Prosecco....which even got me in the kitchen this morning as I incorporated some of the mozarella cheese into a caprese salad with prosciutto I had. Light yet creamy in taste it provided a great balance to the sweets I usually have for brunch. I'm saving my prosecco bottle for full moon night tonight! The arrival is definitely a bit confusing. Yes, you are at the right place when you get to the warehouse by the train tracks, but you should know better than to judge a book by it's cover. I wanted to check this store but I didn't know that I was so closed this past Saturday, so after we were done in the AAA we passed by. This are the things I liked about this store: 1. The size I think is just right. 2. The very raw tables and chairs. Mostly light wooden ones. 3. The helpful lady in charge. 4. The ambiance with nice music. 5. The only thing I didn't like was the parking, in that day's case I didn't have a problem because I was already parked for the event I went, but If I want to go again I know it's going to be so so for me. I have singed up a few weeks ago and since I was there I asked her more information and the nice lady was telling me, that they gave 1.0 oz of each wine (about 6-8 different wines to try) and they are educational classes, not any regular tasting. The cost is $25 and the days are posted on their website. We went to Wine by the Bay for a rosé wine tasting. I didn't know much about rosé or the quality of it in the spectrum of overall wine so I was interested in learning and not to mention tasting. The environment and décor is perfect. They're in a great location and they do have some nice out door seating. However, the class is held in the center of the store on a large wooden table. You're surrounded by paintings and wine I loved it. The instructors were very knowledgeable and charismatic. The class had a great flow to it. They had some snacks (cheese and chorizo) to follow some of the wines which was great. Definitely something different and nice to do with a group of friends or your partner on a Friday night. I love wine. I love to drink wine, I love to eat food made with wine and, most importantly, I love to learn about wine... Enter Wine By the Bay! I first came to Wine By the Bay to experience a class with my friend. Not only was it the ideal happy hour after a harsh humpday at work, I felt like I walked away with a better knowledge of the French wines we tried, technique on how to properly taste wine, and a little tipsy. We tried about eight bottles (an extra one was spontaneously added to the mix by the owner Stefano about midway through). During the class, you're given a sheet for jotting down tasting notes so you can remember what you thought about each one. This is important because by the fifth, you'll start having a tough time remembering. To balance your vino intake (trust me, the small sips add up fast), they served us a little meat and cheese (but there's a pizza shop right next door that I saw a handful of people hit up afterwards). After that, I was smitten and it didn't take me too long to come back. This time, they had more food from a restaurant across the street that has since closed. What didn't change? The great journey that the leaders took us on as we sipped a wide variety of different wines. With classes offered on most days of the week, every day the topic changes and they really touch on regions spanning the globe and bottles at a wide variety of price points. It's wise to be placed on their mailing list which sends exclusive "VIP" invitations to more events outside these regular classes like private dinners with wine pairings and special guest tastings from some of the world's most notorious vineyards. Usually when I'm there, I'll buy a bottle on the shop's recommendation (usually one that was a favorite of mine during the class). One thing that really sets this place apart is the staff making it all run. The owner Stefano is one of the friendliest people while his team (Liz, Kasey, Stephen) are experts in their field and always up to explain wine, talk about wine and, of course, drink wine! Came here with my girlfriends for a wine tasting class that we purchased on Groupon and we really enjoyed it. Stefano is a great host and extremely knowledgeable about his field. I love the space, it took place in an art gallery. Only downfall, the seating wasn't comfortable and the class description stated there were going to be little bites paired with the wine and there was no appetizers whatsoever so we came out of there starving. Tonight the SO and I dropped in to WBB to check out the new digs and say hello to our favorite Wine Goddess. While I expected a great wine selection - and wasn't disappointed - I didn't expect the enoteca owner to be such an art connoisseur. There's a few great pieces blessing the walls that even I, who's not an art fan, can appreciate. A lot of wine stores opt for dark woods and a warm presentation but WBB embraces it's downtown home and presents a modern, concrete-n-metal loft feel which I appreciate. Taking a peek at that prices you can see that Stefano is committed to selling you honest prices and more often than not under cuts the competition - or at least that's what Google Shopper app told me. Dip in and check out the little place. If you're on the way to the beach grab the Wineberry wooden box wine (4 bottles worth) and some of the I-look-like-glass-but-am-really-plastic-and-beach-friendly wine glasses. I get you- I really do. Parking in downtown is a hassle NOBODY wants to deal with. Then, if you have a great pair of heels trying to get out of that parking lot seems downright impossible, and the parking attendant is kind of shady, but if nothing happened to the Benz parked next to you, nothing is going to happen to your rackety "ol'reliable," but what did you expect for $4 near the arena? You walk up the steps and follow the instructions on the Yelp site, or your Mapquest, or whatever you use to get around- and walk into this adorable little shop. On the left, one of those horrible eyesore fridges that I really think people should think twice about purchasing, but filled with a great selection of cheeses and cold-cuts to finish off your shopping list for a perfect, romantic evening. On the right, and all along the wall you have in front of you a hand-picked selection of wines at very reasonable prices. Neatly (just how I like it) displayed in their cute little stands. There is definitely something for everyone and if you're lucky enough to attend an event, you will be able to try a few of them. The owner is VERY nice and very friendly, but even better, our very own Wine Goddess, Michelle, is there to guide you though your purchase and recommend only the best. The best thing about this place is that Stefano, the owner wants to transform it into a cultural hub for enthusiasts with poetry, discussion and more events. Can't wait for that to pick up. Nice place but service was poor. The workers were rude and less friendly towards the "younger" crowd. The workers who did the tasting always poured less wine for the ladies, poured more wine for themselves, and even got seconds for themselves. We are the ones paying for the wine, not for the workers to drinks it all! Each bottle they poured a small amount of wine for the 12 people in our group and still had leftovers in the bottle, and never bothered to ask us if we wanted more- probably to drink the rest for themselves. I wouldn't recommend this place, even with the groupon. Owner was even being inappropriate and was hitting on my friend but when denied, he made sarcastic comments about her in front of the group. They could of done a better job at educating beginners about the wine, rather than expecting everyone to be an expert already. As one customer in our group muttered, "Well, we came here to learn..." Did I mention that they gave us a tiny plate of cut meat? Our whole table of 12 looked at the small slivers of meat and hungrily ate our 1-2 slices. So disappointing. read more

WBTB specializes in hard to find mid to high priced bottles from all over the world. You won't find any sale stickers here. The owner is very friendly and willing to share his knowledge. He gave some good recommendations as we were looking to buy a nice $80 bottle as a gift. Expect to pay about 20% more than you might pay online or at a liquor store, but if you're not exactly a wine connoisseur like me and need to be steered in the right direction, it's worth it. We got a free lesson in Bordeaux. The Spaetburgunder bottle we picked up for our own consumption was awesome. What a nice recommendation. Apparently they also do free wine tastings on Friday nights, that might be fun to check out. read more

My husband and I attended a wine tasting at this hidden treasure on June 27, 2017. We attended one of their classes, Italian Sparkling and White Wines, co-hosted by Stefano and Casey (not certain of the spellings). We were able to taste several wines from a variety of regions throughout Italy; some with light pairings, so that we might fully experience the individuality of the selections. Our hosts were beyond knowledgeable and even provided attendees with an opportunity to take notes on each of the wines we were exploring during the evening. At the end of the evening, prices were shared with those at the event -- which were surprisingly reasonable. I love this place. Conveniently located near one of my favorite places the American Airlines Arena. This place is a hidden gem. They are a small wine shop with outdoor seating. You can purchase a bottle and sit outdoor and chat with whoever you decide to invite. I first learned about this place through a search for wine events. I found a groupon for a wine class. It was about two hours and included wine of course! Two ladies led the course and took the patrons through a series of wines in a tour like manner. They had a map with the different regions and explained the origin of each bottle and vineyards. The owner was present and it was nice to see the company culture because the team seemed very upbeat and friendly. In fact, they were because they even stuck around after to answer questions from the patrons. The owner offered some wine samples to patrons from his favorites. It's always nice to feel included when you arrive at an establishment. This location is doing a good job in welcoming their customers to have better retention. A few months ago I purchased a wine tasting voucher from Groupon to Wine by the Bay. Last night my BF and I decided it was time we finally used it. We picked this night in particular because they were showcasing the Pinot Noirs from around the world. This was a perfect date night! We arrived about 5 minutes late, which wasn't an issue because the Miami traffic was making others late as well. We sat at a table surrounded by other couples. I liked this...made it cozier. We were given our own glasses and a sheet to take notes about each of the wines we were tasting. The ladies teaching the class arrived and the fun began. These ladies were very knowledgeable and were able to answer questions without hesitation. The wines were delicious, great choices! Spent last Saturday afternoon with my girlfriend enjoying a nice bottle of wine out on their terrace. Wine By the Bay is a terrific spot in the sense that their recommendations are always excellent, the prices are even better and you can always drink your purchase across the street from the water. When we went back inside to finish our wine, we were greeted by the owner Stefano who proceeded to give us terrific information about the intricacies of wine and some really fascinating stories about the wine makers he has met throughout his time in that world. Wine By the Bay stole my heart during the threat of Hurricane Isaac. I live in the same building they're at, and we received a glorious email from management - "Hurricane Sale at Wine by the Bay" My husband and I, resigned to stay home all weekend thanks to the weather, put on our hoodies and ran downstairs to stock up on some $9 bottles. As an added bonus - the wine was absolutely fantastic. Ever since then, we grab a bottle every once in a while (our favorite is anything from Ribera del Duero) ranging from $9-$40 and it's always great.
