I'm adding to my review so others can take advantage of a great wine at a great price at The Wine Gallery. I just tried the Adelaida Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles (92 points RP). It leans toward the medium bodied side and is a fantastic bargain right now. I'd snap it up at $25 before Len sells out! My friends and I love the wine selections and the atmosphere. The Wine Gallery team does a great job picking wines you won't find everywhere else. We also like that the food menu is reasonably priced. Love the truffle popcorn! I also like that I can learn something new about wine and winefrom the staff. read more

I've been to every iteration of this wine bar since the space was remodeled in 2014, and I remain disappointed. The wine list is a little high on price and low on quality, the service is clunky, and the decor is downright gaudy. I don't know about you, but multi-color fluorescent lights on the bar, plastic-y pleather couches, and a fake fireplace with purple flames just doesn't scream "classy joint" to me. read more

I'm thinking 4.5 stars, but going to give 5 since there's no half. What a lovely spot! They've really put effort into making this spot comfortable and welcoming. The custom designed tables made out of old wine crates are FABulous- wish I could buy one! The seating varies from couches to armchairs to high top tables, both small and communal, plus the bar. They have a good wine list with a variety that includes non-CA wines and they're happy to let you taste as many as you want until you find one you're excited about. Happy hour lasts until 6:30- hooray! Snacks are good, though the serving on the cheese was quite tiny, hence my desire to give 4.5 stars. But other than that, my friend and I had a wonderful time and can't wait to come back! read more

A gem in the heart of San Carlos. Definitely worth a try. You won't regret it and my bet is that you'll return. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are so accommodating and knowledgeable if your wine aficionado. If you're not into wine, it's still a great place to go and enjoy any night out, as they offer other beverages too. They have a great menu to accompany your wine/beverage and the food is really good! Highly recommend the Asian Pork Tacos and Quiches. The charcuterie is varied and you can create your own cheese/meat combinations. There wasn't anything on the menu that didn't pass the taste test. Finish your evening with the bread pudding ... one of the best we've ever tasted. Dessert wine recommendation is the Port Malbec. I attended a San Mateo Area Chamber of Commerce - mixer this past Wed night! What an experience! The place is gorgeous, warm and inviting. The tables have all been handcrafted by a local from wine crates that, owner, Len Moore has traveled to and collected. The lighting, music, and tv screens give it an all around exciting feel. Now, the most important part! The wine is absolutely over the top. Selection after selection. Len love to greet you as though you are in his livingroom for a great and fun visit. He tells you the story about his love for wine and having a way to experience it with others. While he is aerating the wine, you can smell the wonderful aromas coming from the kitchten. Len's daughter, Chef Jessica prepares delicous finger food that is paired with her dad's wine. Great place to go for an experience. read more

Best kept secret in San Carlos? Wine Gallery at 890 Laurel Street (at Arroyo). Darling, well appointed, warm, cozy, beautiful, classy atmosphere....and decorated for the holidays! Everyone LOVED the small plates menu, so we ordered one of everything. Chef Melissa makes a new Bread Pudding every week or so, tonight's was Pumpkin Pie Bread Pudding. Gasp. (Yes, it WAS that good.) The wines are (obviously) fantastic, the menu is delightful, plated well, and delicious. The staff are the diamonds of this adorable place, for happy hour, dinner, or just getting together with friends before or after shopping. It is a perfect setting and size for a private party, as well. Our server was so friendly, we didn't want to leave....she is fantastic! And the owner, Len, came over with a recommended pour, and some great tips about wines in general. Smart, funny, witty, and eager to discuss wine. We met friends at the Wine Gallery for a quick after work gathering, at their suggestion. We had not been there. We were greeted by Patricia, a wonderful hostess and wine enthusiast. In looking over the wines, we were able to try something different and exciting, the appetizers served were DELICIOUS, and the atmosphere was comfortable and relaxing. Happy hour is $2 off a glass. Ambience is ok-the tables are wide so you can't speak easily to each other and the lighting is bright. There was a good selection of wine, but I thought it was very overpriced. The average glass seemed to be around $14-16, when pricing that actual bottle out it's about $40. If your looking for the more traditional and mellow wine bar this is the place to go. Small bites but not a restaurant- it's a wine bar. They have wines from small producers as well as some heavy hitters that you won't see anywhere else. Super mellow vibe- great place to chat and get to know someone. Also great for a small group to get a table and share a bottle or two over business or pleasure- or both. If you call in advance you can get the couches which is the way to go. We went to this newly opened place. It is a silent pace. Sitting area is designed very comfortable and friendly. Their stuff is not only friendly but professional as well. It is a newly opened business, so, it is very clean... I sow one thing missing; a fresh flower. A fresh flower is a good sign for a restaurant or bar. There is no reason for not giving them 5 stars. This is a great addition to downtown San Carlos hot spots. There is a great wine list and beer selection. We went in for happy hour and had a delicious cheese and mushroom quesadilla, just loaded with mushrooms. We are going back for Sunday brunch! I am so impressed with this great new addition to Laurel Street ! My first night there on 8/16/2019 (Fri nite). Loved the cool quaint sexy vibe and I had the Artichoke Dip- which was to die for ! Delicious and it came with theses perfectly sized crisp crostini rounds . I also had the Sopressano(spelling ?) style Salami and a creamy goat cheese in Virgin olive oil- very nice to go wth my bubbly Brut ! I will be back soon ! Thank you so much ! read more

My life partner and I have been her a few times and enjoy it quite a bit. She and I were here for the Saint Patrick's Day special dinner and boy can his daughter cook up a delicacy! The wines are world class, priced reasonably as wines go and the environment is great. Parking's not bad either. As avid wine enthusiasts we frequent Sonoma and Napa, Mendocino and Paso Robles and Len here @ Wine Gallery have wines from both near and far which I believe anyone would enjoy and can afford. Oh and the appetizers are really good too. So we highly recommend visiting and give it a try. And congrats on making it thru year one! Quite an accomplishment these days. read more
