The food is hit or miss sometimes. The chicken strips and catfish are very good but the fries that come with are usually soggy and limp. Occasionally the fries are crisp and hot but not often. The onion rings likewise are hit or miss. Often they too are soggy and the batter falls off too easily. The salads are great and always fresh. Their sandwiches are ok but the meat on the hamburgers is often dry and overcooked making it tough and chewy. Their sandwiches BLTs and catfish sandwiches are great. The service inside amounts to you standing line, ordering, and serving yourself drinks then when the food is ready they bring it out to you. That's the end of the service. They don't come back around for anything. You're on your own. The ambiance is ok. Like a school cafeteria but there is lots of "stuff" to look at while you eat. We are from out of town visiting this lovely town. We decided to try Wing Shack tonight BIG MISTAKE!! My hubby wanted boneless wings. He asked the cashier if they were good sized or like chicken nuggets. She replied that they were pretty good sized and measured with her hands about 2" or more. When they came out - chicken nuggets. when my hubby complained the mgr came out and asked what the problem was. He explained. She said they were boneless wings made out of chicken breast!!! WHAT? Try the crinkle cut fries or curly fries with a cup of cheese to dip them in Yummy! The wings were really good! The Burger was really good as well. The Ribs... that's a different story. They were dry... I don't mean dry rub either. They tasted like they had been smoked for 2 days too long with cigarette smoke. They were pretty bad. Stopped by here on the way back from Blanchard Springs Caverns. When taking the lettuce off of my kids burger I found a "not small" insect between his lettuce and patty. Wasn't rude about it but took it back and showed a staff member and the only response I got was "Do you want a whole new burger?" Considering there was an almost inch long insect on it I said yes. They got a new burger out to us in about 5 minutes. Got no apologies for the inconvenience or anything else. Wasn't looking to have our meal comped but an apology isn't asking a whole lot. I do have an issue with tips not going to the waitress until December. if she doesn't work until December, NO TIPS. My second visit to this place, let me start with the good. The burgers are outstanding,service is great and the place is clean. Great atmosphere and fellow customers. This is a small town and this One of the few choices that is better then fast food. Now I am from Memphis so I am tough on ribs, and I can say the ribs here are not good at all. The ribs were dry and the BBQ sauce was most likely store bought. Wings, nothing special, but not bad. All in all, I will eat there again. Not a lot of choices in the area. The burger was great! Fries were good. Ribs were dry and a little too charred. Overall, I was okay with the food, but it was impossible to enjoy it due to the flies!!! I realize that seating is limited due to COVID, and I'm normally okay with eating outside. I do patio seating at many restaurants, but I've never had so many flies at my table. Myself and my 2 daughters had to eat with one hand and constantly swat flies away with the other. It was awful. After the food was delivered, a server never came back to check on us or to offer refills; and this is after I left a good tip at the start of the meal. Was headed to the Ozark Folk Center State Park cabins for a few days over Thanksgiving and stopped by here for dinner Wednesday evening. We tried the pork sandwich (with slaw on it) and the bacon cheeseburger. The pork was good but could've been smoked more. We liked that they gave you the BBQ sauce on the side so you could sauce it how you liked. The bacon cheeseburger was delicious. The patty was free formed and had great taste, bacon was crisp, veggies were fresh and the bun was great. I also like the fat and crispy crinkle fries. Went back to get some ice cream for dessert but saw a pie with giant meringue, so got a piece of that instead. It was awesome. I liked that they brought out your food and checked on you even though you ordered at the counter. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. Would definitely go back if I was in town again. read more
