We actually watched our apartment being built which was really cool. We had an OKAY experience. To let people in the building, a guest types in your apartment number & it calls the phone number you used to set it up. For example- my fiancé & I both lived there. He was away on business & I had my parents stop by. When they came, the call went to his phone while he was out of the country & there was nothing we could do about it. He just had to let them in. The pool rules are SO WEIRD. You have bands for entry but can't have guests. Hours are strange. No music allowed. Basically no fun allowed lol There is storage underneath the building but the amount of space you get is ridiculous. Don't bother try to store your Christmas tree down there because it won't fit. You can store your bike though, it kind of just hangs on the walls. There are carts available for residents to use to bring things to & from your apartment. There are only 3/4 for 2 entrances & you're supposed to bring them down back to the door when you're done but no one ever does. Imagine going to the grocery store, coming home to get a cart & there are none, so you grab as many as you can, get all the way up to your door & see a cart someone left in the hallway- ANNOYING. People do that all the time. When you get the keys you get an actual key & a fob. The fob is what you scan in order to get into the building, you use the key to unlock & lock your door. They also give you ONE key for the mailbox. Washer & dryer in unit- HATED both. The dryer always stopped when it shouldn't have. We got the Kodiak apartment design, which we liked because there was a little nook which we thought would be perfect for a sectional couch. We were told that the nook runs through the entire building because that's where the old factory's elevator was- pretty cool! The bedroom closet we had was sad. It was barely a closet. We had zero space for our clothes. The #1 reason we couldn't stay there, we outgrew it before we even moved in. VERY nice game room & community area on the first floor near the lobby. That's where we had our housewarming party- we had 70 people come!!! I doubt they let anyone have parties there after that LOL FYI The building is along train tracks & the trains are LOUD & sometimes run in the middle of the night & early morning.

Viewing this development? - Shame on The Lofts at Helmetta for drawing you in with their marketing B.S. Signed a lease here? - Shame on you for being so stupid! For the avoidance of doubt, if you move here, you are at the mercy of the Property Manager. To be clear, this Property Manager constructively dismisses any colleague who is smart and has an ounce of common sense or calls the Property Manager out on their lies. Two staff have left so far and the only one that is left is the one that they are able to put the fear of God into (or they are just plain stupid for staying). Here's a few updates for you since my first review: 1) The landlord does not care about you. You are nothing but a check for their shoddy construction efforts. 2). First Amendment rights are not welcome here. If you write a negative review (like here on Yelp!), the Property Manager will be sure to consult with Counsel and see if you can be evicted (which you cannot). Heck they will even send you a Cease and Desist notice based on trumped up allegations, that under a deposition at Civil Trial would be shot down because the allegations are B.S. and the accusers are friends and employees of the landlord. 3). If you withhold rent because of their shoddy construction and the fact that the unit has habitability issues, you will be sued. How dare you stand up to this landlord for their poor workmanship. 4). You offer to pay said rent just to get rid of the headache? They will limit your options in an effort to get you evicted. 5) Contractors will deal and imbibe in Schedule I drugs and then return to work. (This likely explains some of the construction issues). Does no one here care about Health and Safety? 6). Have kids? Don't move here. Contractors will whistle at minors and the Property Manager doesn't give a damn. You will be advised that Construction have been notified - doesn't help in the event that your child is kidnapped and killed. Seriously, do we know who these people are that the developer allows on site, particularly when they don't care about your complaints and rock up to the job looking like they were picked up off Rt 18 that same morning. 7). Friends of the developer will be up in your business. They know who they are and they makes no apologies for the fact that they are "a friend of the developer". B*tch, sit your ass down, no one cares, least me and if you open your rat mouth again, the community are likely going to verbally put you in your place. 8). Liar Liar, Pants on Fire. That is what our Property Manager is called. Don't address them by their name because Liar is exactly what they are. Anything to save their ass and protect their job. According to their version of events, I withheld rent because of a cracked sink and a couple of other cosmetic issues. No. I withheld rent because of your cheap construction. Issues with the air conditioning, the electrics, the overall quality of construction, the problem with the mantle getting so hot it would likely combust and a laundry list of other issues - you know, stuff you would never tolerate yourself. Guess what? If you had done your job, we would NOT be here right now, but we are because you cannot do your job. I moved to suburbia for a quiet life, to take my foot off the gas and chill out. Unfortunately, I ended up with a cowboy landlord who has henchmen to make your life a misery. Come at me bro? Do not think that I won't fight back! Your reputation as a landlord proceeds you and the community knows your true colors.

I'm there every summer, every chance I can get. Gia, the leasing manager goes over and beyond expectations to help out the residents here. She is so friendly, knowledgeable and just a great human being. Our Maintenance guys are awesome. Whenever a repair is needed they are here promptly. I was placed in an apartment I did not inquire about, despite the unit I originally wanted being available within my desired timeframe and later rented to someone else. The situation only changed after I disclosed my emotional support animal, at which point I was told the unit I was placed in was my only option. Given the timing, I felt pressured to proceed. Throughout my tenancy, communication was one-sided and often hostile. I received threatening emails regarding noise complaints but never a phone call or attempt to resolve issues directly. When concerns were raised on my end, responses were minimal or nonexistent, despite email being their preferred method of communication. I was charged for a plumbing issue after a storm, where a small piece of debris was reportedly found in an exterior sewer drain. My unit was not affected, no proof of a blockage was provided, and the item in question was extremely small. I paid the charge but never received clarification when I questioned it. I was also charged a late fee for rent paid on the 8th--my first late payment--despite clear communication and efforts to resolve it promptly. Through conversations with neighbors, I later learned similar fees had been waived for others, which felt inconsistent and unfair. During move-out, I was charged for additional days despite being fully moved out and was asked to return to remove minor items. Even after doing so, I was still charged for insignificant items such as water bottles and socks, which felt excessive and nitpicky. I received less than one-third of my security deposit back. Charges included carpet replacement for carpet that was already two years old and due for replacement, and a sink replacement due to silicone failure. The sink itself was in excellent condition. No receipt for a new sink was provided--only a screenshot of an Amazon listing. When I requested proper documentation and clarification, I was told all further communication must go through an attorney. Unfortunately, this experience has been stressful and disappointing. My advice to future tenants: read your lease carefully, document everything with photos and videos, keep all communication in writing, and advocate for yourself. I would personally not rent from this company again.

Management made me feel comfortable and the leasing process was easy; Barb is in charge of leasing, she listened to what I needed and found me a quiet unit. I originally moved into a one bedroom, however, a year later, when I needed more room, Barb found me a larger newly renovated unit. If you're going to check out The Edge, talk to Barb for sure. Working from home during COVID was fine here. The pool was available by registration only, which was not a problem. Neighbors are very friendly too. The grounds are kept clean, there are a couple of dog runs and the club house is gorgeous! (It closed during COVID but I think it reopened recently.) Anytime there was an issue, Maintenance was on it ASAP; Dave takes care of much of the maintenance and he is great. I have been reasonably patient & submitted numerous work orders hoping it would finally get fixed.But unfortunately after each time the plumber stated it was fixed, it started leaking that same night when the above unit used their shower . Then today I came home & the door to the balcony was unlocked, now I'm scared because I do not know who was in my unit?? .So when I turn on my faucets to wash my hands I HAVE NO WATER ! I went to my master bathroom and they sealed the hole in the ceiling (it was still leaking last night) .I did not authorize anyone to come into my unit . Actually I emailed the business manager, stating "I will contact you later , I do not want anyone in my unit" There was No Paperwork left, letting me know who was in my unit & what was done ! Now I have to put in an emergency work order to see why I have no water .So I also called the emergency line & the supervisor, always respectful & nice arrived promptly. As a matter of fact they're here now as I'm writing this at 2am when I have to be at work 8am. TONIGHT IS MY LAST STRAW. This was too close for comfort: my husband was a witness to Car theft 10 minutes after I walked in the door by my self from working a late night. Then we have Domestic violence, drug deals in day light, needles juts sitting by the entrance to the building. If I think hard I'm sure I can name plenty more. Look I get it this can happen anywhere but I pay A LOT of money to be in a safe, family friendly environment. TONIGHT I don't feel safe and I would never want to bring up a child in this environment. At the time of her slip and fall none of the walkways were shoveled, the snow just began to accumulate on the ground so it was not shoveled or salted yet. About 2 hours passed I went back outside to get my grand daughters toy out of the car and noticed they must have received my call because they came by and the walk way was cleared and salt was down. Monday came and gone, mind you I have a lot of health issues and with the cold damp weather my COPD, diabetes neuropathy, and my arthritis is very bad those of you who have these issues will truly understand and with 2 deaths of people I knew passed away all in the same week so I kept telling my daughter she needed to follow up with the front desk and she didn't. I placed another call to the office the following Monday. Somehow in the middle of the call right about 5:59 pm we get disconnected. I attempted to call back twice, no answer but the front desk closes at 6pm, how convenient. My daughters fiance and I drove to the office, lights out door locked. It's now Thursday and all I hear is crickets. I hope I catch my neighbor outside because he has the door camera and I want to see if he has it saved I don't understand why all this trouble. She slipped and fell, and she is very sore still. I am hoping she is okay. Since all this happened I put in 2 maintenance calls for my toilet and no one has addressed that or returned my call either. I can see if we are troubled tennants but we aren't, we never missed rent always pay in advance, never cause trouble. So if considering moving here just keep that in mind. All I know is once our lease is up we won't be back here again. Frustrated tenant.
