*AVOID THIS COURSE AT ALL COSTS*…read more Checked in 3 minutes late for our tee time and were denied entry after multiple weeks of showing up and having to wait 25+ minutes for golf carts to arrive. The starter in particular is always difficult to deal with and they boom tee times too close to each other.

"Drink because you are happy, never because you are miserable" a wiser man than myself once said -…read moreI believe it was Chesterton. There's only one minor problem with this thinking -- I'm happy 95.8 percent of the time and boy was I rolling high Friday night. So I kinda blocked out that part about playing golf with big boss super early the following morning up in Westchester. And if typical braggadocios form -- my huge golf ego got in the way because ""when you were a 6 Hcp Glenn, you can play in any shape" and I did -- back then and - wow - no translation to modern day times. My long time playing partner was clear " the front nine, it's gettable" and that fed into thinking "I'm not going to romance this course, I'm gonna charge right at it." Wham!! snap hooked a 3 iron into deep rough, blocked out by a huge pine tree, I'd have been better off swinging an old maids broom on this day. After 3 all I wanted to do was sit on a nice warm flat rock and watch the little fishies playing around in the beautiful natural streams, so I downed another bunch of Advil and pressed on. The bunkers were unplayable as Hurricane Ida dropped massive amounts of water on the course, yet greens fairways and teeboxes were prestine. I love Winton designs, the Golden Age of golf course architecture, no lining up the tee boxes with the correct passage to the green, fairway bunkers that hide just below the ridgelines - I thank the golf gods that I'm still long so I can fly my ball over them and the course plays short at 6,293 from the back tees. Some high handicappers on the course I could hear being snippy at each other and to all new golfers, please never do that, it doesn't matter if they can't play a lick, you should always encourage them.

We had our South Asian wedding at Whitby Castle on July 4…read more From the beginning, Niki made us feel welcome and confident in our decision. She was responsive, understanding, and flexible throughout the booking process that we truly appreciated. As we got closer to the wedding, Ralph became our main point of contact and he was our Maitre'D. He was incredibly communicative, practical, and reassuring. He helped us work through the last-minute changes and was always focused on finding a solution. We originally chose Whitby Castle because having an outdoor ceremony on the grounds was part of our dream. Unfortunately, due to an intense heatwave, we moved the ceremony indoors at the last minute. I was nervous that it would not have the same feeling, but the space felt elegant, intimate, and beautiful, and our photographs still captured everything we loved. There were a few hiccups throughout the day as well, but the venue including Ralph and Rosa (bridal attendant) remained accommodating and worked well with every one of our vendors to keep things moving. They took care of us that day in moments where no one else was paying attention, and we are eternally thankful to them for that. Whitby Castle is a stunning venue, but also one with a team that genuinely tries to support its couples. We are very grateful to Niki, Ralph, Rosa, and the entire Whitby Castle team for helping bring our wedding together.

Love the food! Love the service!…read more Ron our waiter was so friendly and accommodating!! The restaurant looks like a beautiful house with an outdoor porch where you have the option to dine on if you'd like. The inside you have a beautiful bar area to the left and a dining area to the right with a fire place giving a comfy upscale feel. The prices are a little on the pricier side so something to note. I recommend the shrimp tacos and Parmesan fries! You have the option to host events there too as I was witness to a couple during my time there. The only con is the parking situation. I've only ever been during the day for lunch and there are never any parking spots. I always spend a good 10-15 minutes circling around for one to open up. They do have a small dedicated lot nearby, but very limited spots and tight area. Plan accordingly.

Fell Short Parking: D - They really need valet parking…read more Parking was inconvenient and took away from the overall experience. Ambiance: B - Typical steakhouse atmosphere. Nice enough, but nothing particularly memorable or unique. Bathroom: C - The restroom was very hot and had an unpleasant odor reminiscent of a urinal. It could definitely use remodeling and better ventilation. Service: A - Excellent and nearly perfect. The staff was attentive, professional, and one of the highlights of the evening. Food: C - Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. My porterhouse steak was cut very thin and was overcooked. I also did not enjoy the cold potatoes. In addition, the meal should have been served on two plates or with a larger plate, as it was difficult to cut the steak comfortably.
