I say all of that to say that I'm not the type to leave a review one way or another but after visiting the Kaatskeller I felt compelled. We sat by the fireplace since there weren't any open tables and ordered a pizza, cider chicken, a beer, and a cocktail. The drinks, though great, took 20-30min. The food, after the manager asked how long we were waiting, finally came out about 45-50min after ordering. The pizza... if you've been to Costco, just get their personal pies. Costco's are both much better and about a tenth of the price. It was $17 for the barebones plain, 12in (tiny), and underdone to the point that the cheese was visible in its non-melted form. The chicken... oh lord the chicken... for the love of God, save your money. For $16 you get 3 drumsticks (wings) that are delicious - but nowhere near worth the price. Seriously, if any percentage of you want to order this dish, please save yourself the money (and future time writing a similar review). Do yourself a favor and eat literally anywhere else.

The name jager means huntsman. Substituted the seasonal vegetable (carrot and asparagus) for the cabbage which was so delicious. The meal is hearty and rich. The staff was wonderful. The Apple strudel was one of the best desserts I've ever had with cinnamon ice cream. I can only imagine how cozy this place is during the fall and winter. Absolutely worth the price.

Steve and I had two different beers, both IPA'S however from here and they weren't bad. The first one was Hex and it's flavor characteristics were juicy, floral, dank and grassy. The appearance has hazy written all over it. And while I do enjoy tasting the grassy aspect out of an IPA the other beer is what we enjoyed most which was the Breadwinner. And perhaps what gave this IPA the edge was that it had a biscuity aspect to it. Other features with this beer in regards to the flavor are hoppy, citrus along with a crisp and dry finish. Good first time experience with this brewery and I'd like to try some of their other beers besides the IPA'S at some point and time!

We ordered food and drinks etc. one of our dogs did quietly whine and the same woman came over and sternly said we had to leave if she kept whining. There were less than 15 people there, it wasn't loud, and it seemed super over the top to ask us to leave for that. I'm sad because i love this place and i brought my friends to share in it and it ended in a sour ending! The man bartender however, was super nice and made a great spicy margarita!
