Came by my local Winn-Dixie for the first time yesterday. I was curious to see if this would be a good place to grocery shop. Gotta say I was very pleasantly surprised. Large supermarket, clean and very orderly. Produce section and meat section was larger and had more variety than my local Publix and it had a Hispanic food section good enough I may not ever need to go back to my local Sedanos for. Prices are also better. Only section I did not like is their deli section...I am too much of a boar's head aficionado to eat any other type of sandwich/lunch meat. read more

I just moved to the area and it's the closest super market. There's always a funky smell. I purchased once from the deli and within 3 days the ham started smelling funny. The lady at the deli (the cook a darker lady) is EXTREMELY RUDE. She rolls her eyes and huffs and puffs when you ask her a question. She tried to cut me turkey from a pack that was almost completely gone and leaking liquid I asked her to please get a new one and she literally zipped the pack up threw it inside the freezer and walked away upset by the time she came back I had left because I did not want her service. Whenever I see her at the deli I do not even go to the deli. I went on Sunday around 12 and the shift was much nicer and a pleasure to deal with. The ladies were very attentive and seemed like they actually cared. read more

The jar of Strawberry Preserves I bought, and now after subsequent inspection of additional jars on the shelf ,had and have no strawberries at all in them. Additional there was no strawberry flavor to the jelly!! I told WD about it twice and had no reply at all of course. At one time WD products were better than national brands, now not at all, and they dont care it appears. So be aware that Winn Dixie is shorting their products and stiffing the customers with no care who knows about it. read more

Bought some salmon that was so rotten, I didn't even make it out of the parking lot. My car stinks of horribly ROTTEN fish. The clerk could care less and was put out that I was returning my entire order. No concern to remove the rest of the salmon or check it. I have gotten too much rotten food (beef, fish) from here to ever go back. Whoever manages the seafood counter and meat section should be removed immediately. Selling food this rotten is dangerous and a serious health hazard. read more

I shop at this Winn Dixie. I am surprised at some of the negative remarks. I do notice that they are not from current years. This store is clean, attractive, well stocked with any items I find necessary. I always prefer Winn Dixie meats over other local groceries. I use to shop at Winn Dixie in Naranja and was disappointed when this store and several others were sold. I am so happy that the store in Homestead remained and immediately noticed how an upgraded was added to this store. Coming from Texas you can tell that not every grocery store here in South Florida has "everything", but then you find Winn-Dixie and then you do your happy dance. Now with the Plenti points you actually save more money, the bogos that they have are amazing, in most of the stores they have very nice, and friendly staff, and this location is not an exception. The only thing (and is not their fault) is that I have found customers that have been kind of rude towards me, other customers, and staff members, and nobody told them anything, I understand that they need to value their customers, but at some point they also have to contain the ones that are bad and/or aggressive. Fruits and veggies are very fresh, and with really good deals if you read their promos of week, I have saved a lot. read more

This is my favorite chain out of the ones available in Florida. The stores are always clean and well stocked. The chai has BOGO and a ton of other specials that make it cheaper to shop here than other places. I have read through some reviews and the store was clean the day I visited. They just revamped their rewards program and now you get points that can be used at a lot of different places. This store is located in a small shopping plaza. Omg! AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE! I saw a lady approaching customers and having genuine conversations with them. I later found out she's the Customer Service Manager. So ok, it's expected out of her. But she's leading by example. It didn't just stop with her though, every employee that I would approach was equally courteous, equally friendly, and just as eager to go out of their way to ensure I found or received what I was looking for, one gentleman in particular went to the back to get fresh culantro (recao) for me when I couldn't find it in the front. The whole store was clean, everything displayed nicely and inviting. Everything was perfect. Obviously a very well run store, excellent leadership, and they obviously hire right and train right. This Winn Dixie needs lighting outside. I am not confidant going there at night just moved into the neighborhood and this is three blocks from my house. Overall everyone is very helpful and nice. If you like shopping late just be aware of your surroundings. read more

Hallelujah. I found Mincemeat after I was directed to go to Winn Dixie. The Publix store does not carry it. Also found Marzipan and Almond paste here. Been at this store twice this week and love the wide aisles and lighting. Very clean store. I applied for the card to receive the discounts. Nastiest grocery store I've ever been to. I've shopped at piggly wiggly in Tennessee and even it wasn't as dirty as this place is. Nearly half the items I buy turn out being expired, some by 10 months. Place always has chicken bones lying around on the shelves and floor. Store smells, possibly due to the decomposing chicken legs. I also wouldn't recommend going after dark. read more

This is one of the most disappointing stores I've been in. Even after the remodel. About 1/3 of the items have been removed from shelves and my biggest gripe: insufficient check out lines. Slow service isn't worth the reduced points on the rewards program. And this for a few items I forgot at publix where I loaded my cart and I was in the check out for less than five minutes. This WD has improved so much the last 2 years. The managers, especially Clive and Tammy are always courteous and ready to help. Quantity and quality of food is good. Only negatives are to see people walking around eating chicken wings without paying for them (maybe they think they're "complimentary"), or worse: removing a can of beans and you find 3 chicken wings bones behind where the can was. The other thing is the outright, blatant, incredibly overt shameless stealing (for example, kids at the candies section to adults pocketing stuff or leaving items, on purpose of course, on the bottom of cart and not giving it to the cashier (some cashiers I think suspect the theft but choose not to address it) to avoid any acrimony. or drama. Last room for improvement comment: how many of you have finished your shopping, you're ready to go to checkout line and there's only 2 or 1 checker open? Then they decide to open another one and a traffic jam happens to get to that now available checker? Fkn joke right?! Come on WD!!! The WD Plaza is pretty run down as well (the Plaza sign is completely shredded from hurricane Irma). I like this WD, improvements in quality and aesthetics have been done but a lot more has to be done (starting with security and tolerance of being manipulated) to even think of comparing itself to Publix.
