I have been going to this Winn Dixie for years. I love their BOGO offerings. It makes shopping there much more affordable than other places in most circumstances. Since I have been going there a long time I have seen the meat department change under a man who just retired after over forty (40) years to a really good place to shop for meat. The presentation was really nice and he treated you with respect and always had a smile and a Hello for me. Well, it's just been a few days and already It's looks like a mess. I asked to have a large roast cut in half and was told by Steve working in the meat department that I would have to come back when the cutter was there (???). He might but be a morning person but, really needs to do better. He didn't seem like he wanted to help AT ALL!! FYI, Be careful when buying the reduced meat. I didn't mind purchasing some in the past because the previous guy would reduce the prices low enough that you didn't mind if it had to be thrown out because it was actually bad when opened. Now, in my opinion, the discounted prices are simply most of the other stores regular prices. I may as well buy elsewhere and not be treated rudely when asking questions or requesting help. I will get fresher meat at better prices by shopping elsewhere. Oh Well, A good butcher does really make a difference. I hope he enjoys his well deserved retirement. He will be missed. In my opinion, the new person (Steve) needs to do much better in the meat department or more customers will opt to buy meat at lower priced family owned local stores for a better, fresher, tastier more affordable shopping experience. read more

I have received a plethora of bad/spoiled food from this Winn-Dixie in the last two months so much so that it has literally taken a toll on my grocery budget. I have contacted SE Grocers to absolutely no avail. I don't know if it is because that location is about to close and they have been given a directive to simply sell everything possible but between this and the extremely poor and disrespectful treatment I have received from one of the assistant managers there I don't wish this experience on even my worst enemy. I read recently that the chain that is taking over this Winn-Dixie is proud of the fact that they are keeping employees that work there on staff but being a decade long customer of this location I would suggest that they seriously reconsider as it pertains to just a few of their employees. I don't wish anyone lose their income but I also know that an exorbitant amount of residents of that community who visit and eat at that particular grocery location who absolutely don't deserve to be treated as negligently and abusively as the evening assistant manager at this location and I'm confident I'm only one of a number of people who have made this complaint on some platform or another as it does not take a rocket scientist to know that people who are this brazen and disrespectful don't treat only one or two customers in this manner. This employee in the past has tried to cheat me out of 40+ dollars of groceries and gotten caught via security camera by the kind and competent day manager when reviewed as well as utterly embarrassed herself in front of a multitude of customers on different occasions exhibiting her utter lack of professionalism when very loudly disrespecting me on more occasions than I can count even though I almost always stay kind and respectful in return. I genuinely wish there were regulations for grocery stores that were stronger than there clearly are because there are times where I have been to this location trying to return expired food and been forced to take pictures of an entire section of meat, sausage, and bacon in an attempt to get assistance that were so clearly bad that i'm not sure how it literally didn't take lives. I have purchased groceries that were dated months and months expired. In fact, unfortunate as it may be, the only reason I have continued to shop at times at this location is because of my limited ability to get to other locations. Fortunately, now, I am able to shop at the location on Carrollton which is like night and day from this location. The employees are kind and respectful, the groceries are never what I can only call deadly, and the bathroom is even quite clean most of the time. I hope vast improvements are made once this new chain takes over for the sake of the people who live in that area and shop at this location. read more

Today went to Winn Dixie and tried to use their app with the digital coupons to buy Powerade which was supposed to be on sale 10 for 10. Well as what usually happens with this sh#tty technology the app did not work I don't know if the labels were old or the app was not working right but I wish all this BOGO and digital coupon junk would go away and Winn Dixie would go back to you put stuff in your cart and pay for it and leave. All this is another business selling your info to a third party to make extra money off your info and buying habits. I would give Winn-Dixie on Veterans, in Metairie, 15 stars, if I could. The whole set up at the store is new, fresh, everything from veggies to meat to deli . are all accessible. They have accommodated all celebrity and non-celebrity contributors to use the store for donations to reach the seniors,elderly and the families needs, etc. The management of Winn-Dixie is on top of the needs of this greater New Orleans community. Metairie and surrounding communities are appreciated by having available Nu'awlins and all of Louisiana's important signature dry and can products, produce, seafood (check out Tequila over the seafood department,there's a new product "seafood made easy") meats and poultry, pharmacy and pharmaceuticals, household needs, garden products, the best of Spirits, and showcasing our local brews in ale and coffees. I could go on and on. Winn Dixie Metairie store, is like Campbell Soup, Uhmmmm Uhmmmm Good! Go and visit, if you haven't lately, its great, just go up and down each well stocked isle. Lots of isle space. All the latest products, the social distancing, and the mask wearing is respected and carried out. the store hours for the seniors and the elderly change as the pandemic gets better.So check the day before you're planning on going to shop. This Winn Dixie is well stocked, the staff is helpful, and they run great BOGO specials. Their meat selection is pretty extensive, and the quality is good. Same goes for the produce. The lines get a bit long on the weekends, but If you've only come in for a few things, the self checkout is available. There's always ample parking, too. Huge lot. My only complaint is that the store doesn't seem super clean. Maybe it is, and it's just getting older, so it doesn't seem so shiny and new. Overall, great for doing "big groceries". read more

As far as non L.A. (as in los Angeles, L.A.). markets go, this place is pretty awesome. Prices are cheap cheap cheap! The store is huge. Parking ample. Selection is pretty good, although being from L.A., we are kinda spoiled with our produce, so I would have liked to seen fresher fruits and vegetables with more if a variety, but for the price and location, this place for the bill! The cashier I think could tell we were not from Louisiana and was not the friendliest of staff to us, but you know... her loss. I honestly try not to shop here. Not that it's a bad store. Huge, clean, well lit inside and well stocked. Huge parking lot. I just don't feel like I have that personal shopping experience here. I mean. I don't expect a personal shopper, I am not rich enough for that. I do expect that if I ask a question, an answer, not the employee to say they are checking on it, leave and not come back. I expect that fancy fruit tray I spent $25 on, with the label saying it doesn't expire for 4 days from the date of purchase to be rotten. They did accept it as a return, which is nice. The bakery has a nice presentation of offerings of decorated cakes. The floral department has a nice selection of flowers. The prices can be a bit on the high side considering the quality isn't all that great. There are usually enough lanes open for ease of checkout. I came recently for a money order, and evidently they don't make them for over $500, which Wal-Mart will do up to $1000 for about the same price, so I will probably go there in the future. Products: Typical grocery items--produce, drinks, canned goods, etc. The selection is decent, though the prices can be a little steep, outside the specials of the week. 3 stars Service: Cashiers and floor worker/stockers. Average quality. 3 stars Facilities: Not much unique here, either. I suppose uniformity is a good thing if the standard is high enough. Typical stand-alone brick-and-mortar with private lot parking. I called up here 9/13/2020 at 5:10pm to ask if they have WINGS ahead of time. Since the last 2 places I stopped at were completely out I called and pushed to be connected to MEATS. The lady then told me she would connect me to DELI. Well, after 7minutes of SILENCE I called back and connected to DELI myself. They told me NO we do not have wings. Well, I was already pulling into the parking lot considering how long it was taking just to get my simple question answered, so I decided to go in and see for myself (I just had a feeling) of course, when I got to the meat section they had MORE than enough wings available. I'm not one to be overly critical about my grocery stores. I tend to be very low maintenance about my shopping needs. If you carry booze, bread, and milk you pretty much covered all of my basic needs. The reason this Winn Dixie was so outstanding to me on my first and last visit is this: When I got to the store it was a few minutes before I realized that if I was going to buy anything reasonably priced I was going to have to sign up for a customer card. I hate that. But, I was already there so I gave in. I had to stand in line at customer service for a good 10 minutes while the customer in front of me had the attention of all three employees with her rants about the price of something on her bill. I get it, I do. Please by all means make sure this lady gets her money back. But at least acknowledge the people waiting. A "I will be with you in just a few moments" would absolutely suffice. The manager looked a little frazzled and while he did try to calm the upset customer he left the rest of us just waiting as he wandered over to the floral department to strike up a chat with another employee. Eventually the lady was taken care of and I received my card, the process of registering said card took a whopping three minutes. I'm so glad I waited (just wanted to acknowledge my sarcastic tendencies here). I still don't think that the prices were any cheaper than my local Rouses. To top it all off, the icing on the cake so to speak.... I opened my milk yesterday morning to partake in some cereal when I noticed a strong stench. My carton of milk which had not been opened until that day and which was stamped with an expiration date of August was completely sour! I considered calling the store for a replacement item but decided I would just rather forget the entire incident, make my apologies for cheating on my Rouses and move on. read more

Monday / June 15th at 11:00 am was a complete nightmare at this store. I had over $236 in groceries and was forced to scan my own groceries. They only had 1 cashier working and her line was long. The machines do not work properly. My nerves were so frazzled that by time I got up to $178 I was ready to WALK OUT! So many errors!Then this sweet elderly , lady named Lucy came to my rescue. She was calm, sweet, gentle and help me every step of the way. She tied and bagged my groceries that were sitting on the floor as obviously they have no room on the counter. The young girl that was overlooking the self check out was clearly not liking her job. She was aggravated every time she had to help someone. Literally there were 2 other people who walked out. I was going to be the 3rd within 5 mins, however, Lucy saved me from walking out. She should not be outside getting grocery carts. She should be your customer service for the scan and go area!! This was my 2nd incident in the store and trust me I will not be back.!!! read more

I am horrified at the way I saw one of your associates treated the other day. I was in line with an extremely rude woman who berated the disabled woman in a wheelchair behind her in line. Then she decided to go in on the extremely calm and very nice cashier. The woman had her hand all in the face of the cashier and she kept her composure. An african american woman came over to handle the problem and the woman berating the cashier had her hand completely in the poor girls face and this "manager" did nothing to protect the worker. She was guarding the money drawer and saying she cant be here (speaking of the cashier who was in the right! I saw the whole thing!). The disabled lady and I were floored! Then to top it off the disabled woman was short on her groceries and the sweet cashier wanted to pay the difference because she felt so bad at how the lady treated her and this "manager" said oh no we dont do that here. The cashier said I cant give her the $5 to make up for what shes short and that lady said NO! Never in my life have I seen such poor leadership. She made the cashier leave in tears. I will take this up with corporate because this girl should not have had to leave the store that day and lose her job. It was not her fault! I have seen a rather large woman with long dark hair who I assume is another manager scream at employees in front of customers at the top of her lungs. I see why the staff at this place hate their jobs and the turnover rate is so high. This place needs training of management or a clean sweep. You get a great worker in and within 2 weeks she is gone by no fault of her own. I had to speak my peace on this and hope that someone of importance sees this and does something about it. That employee deserves and apology! I will never again set foot in this Winn Dixie and most likely never another one if this is acceptable for company standards. Store is never stocked and lines always take 30 mins or more to get thru. This store is in so much need of help! The store is large and has good variety. I appreciate their store brand for less expensive prices. Yes, having to get a card to get the sale prices is annoying, but its a one time, easy thing to do and you do get great deals using it. There are no better deals in other stores. I needed to sign up for the card, the lines were a bit long. I asked a man stocking some shelves (maybe a manager) if I had to go to the customer service desk or if I could sign up at the register. He said I could do it at the register but offered to take my ID and go get me a card while I waited. Great customer service! I had my card in less time than it took to stand in the checkout line. The people who shop and work here seem nicer than other grocery stores I've been to (*Cough*Rouses*Cough*). People walking with carts in the parking lot are courteous. Workers at the checkout are fast and polite. The lines are long, but it moves fast. They have self checkout too but they definitely need to have sign or something for the process. There is ONE line. Several people, including myself, walked up to a kiosk when it was open, not realizing theres a line. A sign or a rope would make much more sense. The deli is seriously lacking. There are little to no options for pasta salads and such. Serious downfall in my opinion. The non existent butcher counter is also a huge problem. I like the option of marinated meats or specialty cuts. The seafood counter looked decent, which surprised me since their deli and butcher were lacking. Overall, I think its worth it to shop here instead of the competitors stores. If you want specialty items, you can grab them elsewhere, but for bulk shopping, this is your best bang for your buck. read more

This is yet another instance where I pass up several Winn Dixie's just to get to this one. I prefer this location over the two that are right down the street from me for a few reasons. 1) They are a lot less crowded 2) The employees here are soooo super nice every time. 3) The produce section is always stocked with fresh new fruits and veggies to choose from. 4) There are no unattended children running wild in this store. (As you can probably guess, I HATE Super Wal-Mart with a passion becasue of this exact issue!) The produce does not seem fresh anytime I go and it's more expensive than other nearby grocery stores. The meat usually has good deals on it. The dairy and eggs section is also more expensive than other nearby grocery stores. I maybe going in on the wrong day but they never seem to have their shelves stocked. read more

This place is horrible. I've been going here over ten years, and it just keeps getting worse. I go late at night on Friday or Saturday and the place is full of rude guys re-stocking the shelves. They block the isles and throw boxes at your feet, all the while having loud conversations with profanity and crude language. Worse than that, they only keep one register open (with no bagger) for people who have too many groceries for self-check out. Winn Dixie is the equivalent of Ralphs/Vons back home in Los Angeles. We looked everywhere for a grocery store in New Orleans since we wanted to buy some healthy fruit/veggie snacks, and found Winn Dixie. Our main purpose was to find a beanie for the cold weather, but unfortunately the store didn't sell any. Why don't you guys sell beanies?! You sell bedding and other random items, but no simple beanies or even a hat! Winn Dixie has discounted prices that you need to have a club card for, and you can easily sign up for free at the Customer Service desk. Or you can just ask an employee, who will help create an account for you. You just need to give him/her your ID. Even though I'm not local and had an out-of-state ID, the employee still made a card for me! So if I ever go back to New Orleans, I have a Winn Dixie card to use for discounted prices! read more

This is a great location to come and get New Orleans specific items/ tourist items. Man-friend and I stopped by on our way back home for some last minute gift items and we picked up: a jar of pickled green beans, community coffee with chicory and last (but definitely not least) A KING CAKE! And the king cake was hella cheap for only 10.99! Great place to load up on Nola culture before heading back to home, wherever that may be for you.
