There were only two lines open and a nice lady with quite a few items even let me go ahead of her. She was very rude , unhelpful, and couldn't answer some basic questions of where anything was in the store, and all she did was give me attitude over what i was asking for. How does this store have people like that working for them that act like that?. I do not know. I felt so disrespected just by asking simple questions. Rouses has gone down hill. On the week leading to Mother's Day weekend, 05/10/26, using the crawfish app I looked up rouses and it showed large crawfish were available, so I reserved 2 sacks of crawfish. I called the day before and inquired and was told yes, they are large the app is accurate. When I got the two sacks, they were extremely small, I spoke with the seafood manager, and he said that's all I have. Since then, Rouses doesn't post on the app any longer, seems odd. I've been a customer of this Rouses store since around 2010, almost since they opened when it was a Save-A-Center. Over the years, some things have stayed the same--unfortunately, not for the better. The pies still taste bad. These days, I usually go to Donax or other stores for desserts. The meat can be reasonable at times, and occasionally you find some good deals, but those moments are rare. Customer service has been a constant struggle. They've dropped calls and been rude to me on the phone since at least 2013. That's part of why I walked away from shopping there regularly this past week, despite being a customer for almost two years. As a former employee, I want to warn others before they make the same mistake I did. Management here is often pushy and rude--not just to customers, but also to employees. They are extremely nosy, and there's a lack of communication between management and department heads, which creates problems for both employees and customers. The store manager fails to do his job properly. There are no real meetings with employees, and annual raises are nonexistent. I'm done trying to help them improve because I feel this poor management ultimately hurts the customers. I don't want to be associated with a company that may not be around in 10 years and that doesn't even provide employees with proper paystubs or an updated employee handbook. read more

One unique thing about New Orleans is that most of the supermarkets are local chains like Rouses, Breaux Mart, and single locations like Zuppardo's and Dorignac's. No Albertsons, Safeway, or Kroger. Not sure why this is, but it is nice to see less of the soul-less national chains. There's WalMart, Trader Joes, and Aldi if you want the lowest cost groceries....or Whole Foods for organic and high-end. But they don't carry popular local items like Zapps potato chips, king cake, doberge cake, etc. Walked into Rouses this time, and they were giving out birthday cake squares at the entrance for their business anniversary, a nice touch read more

Sale prices change in mid week, supply and variety of products is low, and prices overall are expensive relative to what you get, did I mention that prices vary based on what location you go to? The service is adequate at best because of a lack of motivation by employees and for all the money that was invested in updating the store, it's still outdated. The only redeeming quality is that if you find an employee who cares, they care. When you don't have fresh vegetables to offer I can accept that's possibly not Rouses fault! But when you go to the deli and ask for a quarter pound of meat and the guy hands you a bag that has no weight at all and I asked are you sure this is a quarter pound and he said yes well there were three slices of meat in it ! Then I requested a half a pound of cheese ! Well he put all the cheese stacked together with no paper in between the slices and that's the same time. This review is for the rouses on Clearview in Metairie. I used to shop here very regularly. My recent visit reaffirmed what I've come to know. This store has taken a nose dive. It used to be ok. Compared to the one on Airline and Labarre , it looks as this store has just been forgotten. The produce is nice. The deli counter is slow and understaffed. The salad and hot bar are fractions of stores like Zuppardo's. I don't even buy the green onion sausage anymore. That was one of the big draws for me. They do let you utilize both current and prior ad prices in Wednesdays. I wanted to say at least one positive thing. The Rouses Family is not representing themselves I'd a good light with this store emblazoned across the front. I would want to do better. We deserve the nice floors and flashy deli out here as well. I'm not a Grocery Economist , but I guarantee a major overhaul would yield a great Return On Investment. Zuppardo's is making this place look downright shabby. This time of the year I go to a Rouses bakery for a doberge birthday cake for the missus, as I'd done for well over a decade if not longer. As of late I'd go to the Carrolton location because they usually have a good selection, but as I'd arrived shortly after opening, this time they had only 3 forlorn and dry looking offerings, and they didn't seem quite sure as to when or if fresher ones would arrive. So I drove out to their Veterans location (where they had much better selections) and whereupon I encountered a very young woman (the only one there at the time) who immediately regarded me with a sneer. Trying my best to ignore the attitude, I selected one cake, and upon noticing a distinct lean to its surface, asked for another with a more horizontal plane, to which she had the audacity to say, "They're both the same." No, they WEREN'T. Anyway, a real nasty actor, that one was. And all the other employees were so pleasant. Go figure. read more

This store is in a very good spot as it's in the parking lot between KMart & SteinMart on the corner of vets & causeway. Ok so now you know where it is. A little higher price point than a few other stores that I frequent, but the quality is better, so ok justification is there. Being that I don't like to shop, I'm always on a #stickandmove run of sorts. In & out I go. The store is laid out in such a way that navigating is rather easy. I love that the veggie & fruits are ALWAYS fresh!!!!! Ample alcohol & beer selection. Some of the alcohol is locked behind plastic compartments in the alcohol section, this is a hassle I'm normally rushing and I have to find a store associate to "free the booze". But there's a walk-in beer freezer, so have at it if that's your pleasure. Checking out is simple, maybe a little bit of a line, but they move swiftly. When I'm in the area and am pulling a #stickandmove coup, less then booze, I ride through. read more

As a faithful shopper of Rouse's at Carrollton, I feel like I'm cheating when I shop at the Rouse's on Veteran's. I can say that since I moved, this supermarket is easier to get to upon leaving work but now that I've successfully carried out a full fledge shop at this location I can easily compare the two. Here are a few sections that I frequent and their differences. 5 for $19.99 Meat Special-not as great a selection as Carrollton. I'd say the offering was half the size and the variety was nothing special. Carrollton offers more chicken options, sausage and more frozen food choices for the meat special. Veteran's was mostly ground meat and deli. Ethnic Food Aisle-also subpar in comparison to the Carrollton location that caters to a more diverse neighborhood. I was bummed out that taco seasoning was limited to two kinds, there were maybe 9 types of soft tortillas and very little by the way of Asian cuisine. Carrollton wins this category by a landslide. Alcohol Section-albeit large in size compared to the size of the store, the offering of refrigerated craft beer is much smaller than that of Carrollton, as well as the wine offerings/region are also limited. Great for stopping off to grab something after work, but limited store size and lack of diversity in immediate neighborhood limit selection overall. read more

Favorite and best place to shop for groceries. Always fully stocked and helpful. Fruit and vegetable selection is superb and their meat and seafood section is out of this world. Great prices and great quality! Cheese selection is awesome too!! And forget Dorinac's! Rouses Hot line for lunch and around dinner is incomparable! Just sometimes wish they would stick with more of a cohesive theme. But tastes great!! The produce section is severely lacking and I've seen overly ripened produce recently. The layout is fine in the store but I can't get over how some of the fruits I brought home were moldy. It is amazing to me that on August 7, 2020, this store chooses to rearrange the design of its store. This means there were many, many personnel in the store at 10 am on a Friday. This included men standing around chatting, most likely there to be sure they received proper shelf space. We are told to social distance. Impossible in this store. Just got barked at in the salad section by a stocker who was putting up potato and coleslaw on a nearby shelf. (12/5/19 11am) A simple friendly "excuse me" would have worked but she yelled ever so hateful "EXCUUUSE ME!" Totally embarrassing, as I always try to be aware of my surroundings and very courteous to everyone. Yes, I'm the one always moving over for the inconsiderate pushy shoppers, without complaining, so this was completely unacceptable. I hadn't been to this Rouses in quite some time and I think the renovations that all the Rouses had underwent, this one may have most benefitted. I don't know if this is all Rouses, but the carts are aren't too big and aren't too small (said Goldilocks) but it makes for maneuvering their produce section and aisles easier. They were well stocked on all produce I needed and even had the little "lightly dried" packs of herbs like I saw in Publix! Their bread selection left a lot to be desired in the aisle and the deli prepackaged shredded cheeses options weren't very extensive but everything else I needed I found with various pricing options. I liked the other editions of an eating area by the front and a bigger sushi station but I didn't partake this time around. Check out was quick, parking was easy. I don't often get groceries in this area but easy enough to knock it out here. read more

Rouse's Supermarket and me have a bit of a dysfunctional relationship. I feel that the only way I can fairly express this is through a pros and cons list approach. Pros: I think the staff in incredibly sweet and friendly. I also think they have a good quality meats department and I get my meats from them frequently...although I would like to see a little more steak selection...but that's ok. They are steadily improving their wines and spirits selection. I also enjoy the sushi chef and cheese areas, and they have a pretty nice salad bar I frequent from time to time. Cons- Their produce and I have had been known to have some issues. Many times I have bought fruit or vegetables here (such as: avocados, eggplant, lettuce, bananas, etc.) that was not yet ripe, and then instead of becoming ripe, they just instantly go bad or start rotting from the inside. Also, this may be just a Kleinpeter thing, but the milk goes bad all the time and if you check the dates you will soon realize that they are usually sold in the store past their recommended selling date. Since I realized this, I have started making sure I check the dates on literally everything I buy there because I've noticed it happen more than a few times to be considered an innocent slip up. I'll always come here because the location is so undeniably convenient for me, but occasionally I'll go run by Breaux Mart or Whole Foods for additional produce so I don't take a gamble that I'll end up throwing my produce (and money) in the garbage. read more

Back in 2009 I moved out to the Causeway area and started visiting this Rouses. After about a year I changed to the Clearview Rouses because it had been remodeled and had a better selection. Now I find myself having moved to Old Metairie and once again this is the closest Rouses. Thankfully it's been redone and updated and now has what I'm looking for. I particularly like the Pick 5 promotional. For $20 I get the pick any of the "Pick 5" stickered items in the meat section. This means I can often get packs of chicken quarters, pork chops, steaks all for a good price. Each pack is easily enough to feed me and my girl, plus another serving to take for lunch the next day. read more

This supermarket sells everything even liquor(a large selection to choose from too)!! We dont have that in Austin,TX. We have to walk next door to Twins. There is even a dining area with TV to heat up your food if needed with condiments and plasticware. The area is decored with Saints. I like it. Awesome! read more

I rarely shop in this grocery store but for whatever reason, whenever I go in there to get a few things, the cashiers always try to make it appear and sound like to the customers that I am a problem. They are lying. They did it tonight. These employees in this crap town continue to try to cause problems where there are none. The only issues I have had in the past is with being overcharged for items and inaccurate advertising but lately I have not seen those problems the few times I have been in there, so I don't know what these cashiers were talking about tonight, but they are indeed, delusional and insane. If you would not have engaged in deceptive advertising, I would not have needed to call the manager to the register. But that hasn't happened lately, nor have I been in there much, so why are you continuing to try to make it appear to the customers that I am a problem other than you have a few employee assholes at your registers who need to be fired? read more

I ordered my first cake ever from @rousesmarkets and I am more than happy that I did ! It came out exactly how I wanted it , even WITHOUT using FONDANT which made me even happier!! The cake itself tasted Incredible !!!! If you are having a party for any occasion bring in a photo ,explain what you want and they will work magic. The staff was overly helpful and explained every detail on what they used for each decoration from the airbrushing to the slime and the ideal sizes of the cakes. I posted a review on this grocery's facebook page last night..and they not only had it removed they reported it to fb as 'inappropriate"... I ran into a cashier named Laura at a grocery named Breaux Mart... I was surprised ..she worked for a long time at Rouses on Vets at 2900 Vets..Metairie Louisiana She said she worked there 14 months..and she had been fired and handcuffed and arrested and was going to court next month.. I was appalled... this lady worked. ... all hours..changing shifts.coming in on her day off..working sick..working exhausted..working in mourning after she had major deaths in the family..She was fast and personable..and they know she is honest... She forgot her wallet in her truck and at lunch she picked up piece of chicken costing less than $2.. realized her wallet was in her truck..ran out to get it and was fired handcuffed and arrested.. I posted this on Rouses Facebook page and they reported my review as 'inappropriate" for telling the truth about them...so I am reporting them here for being liars.. I hope this goes viral...these people are absolutely outrageous... I hope to find a lawyer and sue them...but at least I know they cannot remove a Yelp review..I wish I had come here first..but I had no idea they were that dishonest... Since moving to Louisiana over the summer I had been looking for a go-to grocery store was finally happy to find a chain (Rouses) that fits the bill. Having a wider selection than Winn-Dixie, but more budget-friendly than Whole Foods. In particular, this store is consistently well-stocked and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I especially like the interesting store-made meat options they have (e.g. rolled duck stuffed with sausage). read more

This is a decent grocery store. They have pretty much everything your typical grocery store would offer. One extra offering they have though that I liked, were the freshly boiled crawfish out in front of the store, yum! Prices seemed in line, and the staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful. I wasn't a fan of the layout though inside the store. It's very cramped at times, and maneuvering with or without a cart can prove challenging. If you're there during a busy time, don't expect to get in and out very fast, but if you go at a non peak time, this is a good store to do your shopping at. read more
