I wanna cry with such happiness, enjoying my first ever splurge of a bucket list luxury resort-could not find any better, any more perfect than Terranea Resort!! I wanted to treat myself and my two wonderful daughters plus each of our dogs to an exquisite two bedroom Casita with private patios for each bedroom. The resort offered everything and more than I would've expected: nine on-site restaurants, Ocean views like really right there!, Top of the line Customer Service from valet to check out, shuttle service from your room to wherever you want and privacy galore! Grounds were so well coiffed you would think it was all fake lol that even my dog would've thought it would have been an insult to eliminate there. Words cannot express my elation of enjoyment. We are already planning our return visit next year! read more

Very disappointed with the management of this property. My two-year-old daughter found a fake fingernail next to our bed and was about to put it in her mouth before we were able to take it away from her. This is a serious safety issue that should never happen in a properly cleaned hotel room. I immediately informed the front desk, and they assured me that management would contact me. Unfortunately, I never received a call or any follow-up. The lack of concern and communication was just as disappointing as the cleanliness issue itself. This could have resulted in a choking hazard or other serious consequences for my child. I hope the property takes both its housekeeping standards and customer concerns much more seriously in the future. read more

Came a few weeks ago with my husband for a meal at Mar'sel. The vibes, scenery and ambiance of the Terranea resort are really stunning and serene. The restaurant was beautiful- we greatly enjoyed our seabass, which was a standout! Unfortunately our whole experience was tainted by a very rude woman at the front desk named Michaela. It really did sour my evening. Perhaps she was having a bad day. But she really should not be in a front facing role serving clients. I will be back and can hopefully update my review with a better experience! read more

I have been here a couple of times for the day, spa services, restaurants, hikes, etc. This time we stayed at the hotel for three nights and what a wonderful experience. I usually always book hotels directly, but took a chance and advantage of a Travel Zoo offer. I worried that perhaps we would get a subpar room since we did not book directly. Quite the opposite. Terranea reaches out in advance via email for any preferences etc. We were booked for a king ocean view room and I asked for an upper floor if possible. The parking valet was very friendly and explained we had to valet when staying at the hotel. They do have a daily valet and resort fee. Our check-in was easy. We were given a top floor in our building with a great view of the ocean and Vista Pool. The room and bathroom were so clean. The furniture in the room and on the patio were stylish and comfortable. The bed was a bit soft for us but we did fine for three nights. I will post pictures of the room and view. I did have to call down to the front desk as our bags were not delivered, but they immediately brought them up to us. I have given reviews for Bashi and Nelson's (loved them both). I made all our dinner reservations the week before arriving knowing we could cancel them if we wanted to do something else. We did not eat at the Catalina Kitchen, but all of our room service food and pool food was prepared by Catalina Kitchen. All of those meals were fresh, flavorful and well presented. I have included pictures. Room service and housekeeping services were great. Everyone was over the top friendly and welcoming. We also booked a golf lesson which was amazing and I wrote a review for the Links. We did not use the spa on this trip. We have booked the spa for treatments and day visits in the past. After dinner, we went to the Lobby Lounge for live music and drinks. The male bartender was probably the only negative interaction I had from the many many resort staff members I interacted with. He also appeared not to get along well with the lounge servers. Not sure what that was about. In any case, the live music was very enjoyable and the lobby lounge is very comfortable. We met some nice people during our stay. We will most definitely be back! read more

We recently visited for a Mother's Day surprise and a local staycation. It was a great value for the experience, and the resort provided a perfect balance for the whole family. Family Logistics: My wife headed to the spa for some downtime while I took the kids to the pool, which worked out perfectly for everyone. Dining: We had dinner at catalina kitchen where I had a really good steak. Service: The staff was very pleasant, and everyone we encountered was nice. Room Accommodations: I'm rating this 4 stars instead of 5 due to the room layout. We booked for four people, but the initial room was so tiny that it couldn't comfortably fit all of us without one child sharing our bed. I ended up spending more money and upgrading to a suite to ensure we all had enough space and comfort. Comparison to Past Stays: I booked this same promotion a year ago and the room was much larger and easily slept two adults and two kids. I'm not sure what changed with the room assignments this time around, but the upgrade was necessary for our comfort. It did cost us extra $$. Overall, it was still a great way to treat my wife to a surprise while we all had some staycation fun. read more

We had another great staycation at the Terranea last month. We considered going to Palm Springs for our anniversary this year, but decided that we didn't want to drive and would rather spend our time at the Terranea again. We originally booked a 2-night stay, but when we checked in my husband asked if we could stay another night. Lucky for us, a large group had just checked out and we were able to book a third night on the spot. We also upgraded to a Bungalow since they had it available. The Bungalows are really a treat with a separate living room and full sized kitchen. It's like a home away from home. We watched the final game of the World Series in our living room! The property as usual is well maintained and since there was low occupancy during our stay, we didn't run into a lot of other guests. Last year, we took advantage of their Lexus Experience where we could borrow a Lexus for a few hours. It was a good way to test out different vehicles and we ended up purchasing one this year. We didn't borrow any vehicles during our recent stay, but they still offered the Lexus experience while we were there. I'm sure we'll be back again. read more

Terranea Resort is an incredible place. We stayed in a little casita and the experience was amazing. Watching the sunset there is something special, and in the morning being able to walk to the edge, sit on the grass in front of our casita, and enjoy a coffee or tea felt so peaceful. The views are unreal and perfect for capturing content , I always bring my drone with me, and this place is a dream for video shots. Everything felt calm, private, and well taken care of. Definitely a spot I'd come back to and highly recommend. 20 of 10 !!!!! read more

We stayed here for one night in October 2025 to attend a work gala and subsequently stayed overnight as well so we did not have to drive a long way home. Brought the kids with us on the trip and they were able to enjoy the Kids Club in the evening while we were at the Pacific Palisades Grand Ballroom. Kids club was expensive at $135 per child for 3 hours in the evening between 6-9pm. Dinner is included in the rate. Kids had a lot of fun though so we don't have to worry while we were having dinner at the gala. Valet parking was nice and group room rate was affordable. Staff are friendly and ocean views around the property were spectacular. We saw the sunset and it was gorgeous too. Grand ballroom and terrace at golden hour was the best. Enjoyed the catered beef short rib and fish entrees at dinner. Dessert buffet was tasty too. Overall a pleasant stay but just wish we had more time to enjoy the pool!! read more

I went to the Terranea this past weekend and it was such an amazing experience! I came here on a Birthday getaway. All the staff members were super friendly and helpful! Shoutout to Deb from the Concierge for making my stay feel much more welcoming! Deb wrote me a card and gave me a resort keepsake for my birthday. We arrived to the hotel on Saturday around noon. We were greeted in valet by Ruben, who was very polite and helpful. Sadly, one downside I do have to report is the fact that the phone number to text to let the Valet know to bring your car was not working. It was giving us an error message that the phone number we were requesting the car from was not identifiable. One of my family members who used to work in valet for a hotel stated that this usually means that the hotel did NOT input our service ticket into the the valet system. We reported to this to one of the cashiers working the valet desk and she stated it was because we did not have a room assigned to us yet. However, a day after, when we already had a room assigned, it was still giving us an error message. We did not decide to escalate it further because we were already leaving the resort to conclude our trip. While this did not affect my rating, it was just inefficient. They did allow us to check in early. While we waited for our room, we explored the resort and had lunch at Catalina Kitchen. After lunch, we explored outside the resort a little bit. We went to the PV Promenade and then to the Starbucks off of Hawthorne Blvd & Palos Verdes Drive W. We didn't get to our room to about 4:30pm. They said they were gonna text us when the room was ready. However, they never did. When we got back, we checked in with one of the front desk agents Steve Kim. He told us the room was ready and they were taking long to get it ready for us. He made it up to us by adding in a $50 credit as a comp for waiting. We were very grateful. We were placed in room 2117, which was the hotel king guestroom. It had it's own balcony on ground level so going outside to your left was the stairway to go to Nelson's and then on the right was the outdoor part where events would be hosted. It had amazing sunset photo opportunities. The room itself was clean. There were no signs of dirt or dust. We had a housekeeper come by and asked if there would be a time we won't be in the room so she could do an extra tidying up. We had an 8pm reservation at Bashi restaurant so this would be a good time. I was grateful for this. After dinner, we decided to walk inside the resort. But I noticed there is lack of things to do in the nighttime inside the resort because everything is already closed. There was live music at the lobby bar, but because there was also a 50th birthday party going on at the same time, we couldn't hang out in the lobby bar. You also can't do much outside of the resort due to the coyotes. We went back to our room and called it a night. The housekeeper provided us extra water and tidied up. It was very nice of her. The next morning, we had breakfast at the breakfast and waffle station at the Sea Beans. I also used my $50 credit at the gift shop for a shirt. We packed up our things, called for the bellman to come grab our items and went back outside to walk around the resort until check out time at 11am. It was a wonderful experience. There were a few bumps in the road. But i do not regret my experience at all. Definitely worth a check out. Save up as much money as you can especially for the food! I will be back and next time be able to use more of the amenities like the pool, spa, sports and gym! read more

I came here for their Super Bowl event (definitely a long overdue review), but it ended up being such a fun experience. They did a really great job with the setup. Everything was set up around the pool with a beautiful ocean view, which already made it feel a little more elevated than your typical game day spot. They had a huge screen so you could enjoy the game from pretty much anywhere, and the overall vibe was just really chill and well put together. The food was buffet style with all the classic Super Bowl favorites, plus some really cute themed desserts. They even made desserts inspired by the teams playing, which was such a fun touch. I also loved how they set up the buffet stations; there were options in both the front and the back, so no matter where your table was, it was easy to grab food without walking all over the place. They also had a raffle going during commercial breaks, which was actually really fun and kept the energy up throughout the game. It made the whole experience feel more interactive instead of just sitting and watching. Your ticket covers unlimited food, which makes it easy to just relax and enjoy everything. Drinks were separate (they had an open bar option for an additional cost), but overall it felt worth it for the experience. It's a great option if you don't want to watch the Super Bowl at home but also don't want the chaos of a crowded bar. 5 Stars for the staff and the service provided as that met expectations. However, 3 stars for the below: The pricing reflects the views, but unfortunately not the quality of the rooms or food. While the ambiance, scenery, and service at Nelson were excellent, the dining experience was subpar. For the price point, the food should be outstanding in both flavor and presentation, and it did not meet expectations. I ordered a Caesar salad, and when it arrived it looked hastily thrown together, with little attention to presentation or taste. When the server offered to replace it with the ceviche, that dish was equally disappointing unevenly cut shrimp and vegetables, with shrimp that appeared torn rather than properly prepared. The dish lacked flavor and tasted like water as opposed to a flavorful lime. Given the cost of the room, I was also disappointed with the accommodations. At a minimum, I expected luxury bedding and pillows, which were lacking. Overall, it's clear the property draws people for the views and drinks, but for a first-time stay, the experience fell short of expectations. read more

Partially kidding-friendly but not as we hoped. Kids club is amazing and allows 3yos, villas are massive, and the property and views are pretty. The food situation on property is not convenient - expect to wait. The breakfast buffet doesn't start until 9am (what toddlers can wait until 9 to eat?) and even when we arrived right at 9 there was a 30min wait... with half the tables empty. They said they didn't have enough waiters. This is a buffet. Then again for lunch, Catalina and Bashi don't start til 12pm - if toddlers are hungry at 11:30, too bad. And Nelsons had an hour wait. Did not feel easy and relaxing. We were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and picked Terranea because it had a kids club + spa and we wanted to get a couples massage. I booked 6wks in advance. Then when I showed up they said they forgot to actually put the booking in. They were able to scramble and get us separate massages at a different time but not relaxing and not the experience you expect for a $300 (x2) massage. I was hoping this would be our go-to spot near LA but I would not recommend it. I hope they take this feedback and we can try again some day. read more

Gorgeous property. We were upgraded to a premier ocean view room upon check in. The view was perfection and we enjoyed the sunset from our balcony. The room was well appointed, and everything was in working order. The bed was comfortable and they accommodated my pillow request. The expansive property offers numerous restaurants, several pools, a spa and abundant places to enjoy the views or have a quiet moment. After walking oceanside trails, we enjoyed swimming in the spa pool. We celebrated our anniversary here and look forward to visiting again. read more

This is arguably one of the best LA hotels. The best views and it feels really private. Yes it is a bit far from LA but it has one of the best Ocean views. I love that they can drive you around in their golf cart. It just feels like you're at home whenever I'm here. Although we have a house here in LA, we love putting our guest here while our home is being remodeled. read more

Based on all of the high end resorts I've been to, this one isn't as impressive. Honestly the kicker for me is the mediocre hotel lobby breakfast buffet for $30pp ($40 with gratuity and tax). On Sundays they have a brunch buffett at the Catalina restaurant which is .... Here goes... a whopping $95/pp. The best thing is the view and the fact that there is a great hiking trail. read more

Just returned from a stay at Terranea, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. This is truly a resort, not just a hotel--the property is absolutely stunning, with sweeping ocean views, beautifully maintained grounds, and a peaceful, expansive layout that instantly puts you at ease. I had some concerns about the food going in, based on a few negative reviews I'd read, but I'm thrilled to report that every meal I had was excellent. I dined across the property--from Nelson's to the adult pool and Bashi--and was consistently impressed. At Nelson's, I had a burger and fries that totally hit the spot, and even though it was busy, the service was solid and friendly. But the standout was Bashi--next level in both food and service. Everything from the flavors to the presentation to the attentiveness of the staff was absolutely top-notch. A must if you're staying on property. Service overall was very good, with just a small hiccup--our room wasn't made up one day until we asked--but it was handled quickly and professionally while we were at dinner. Every other request was met with prompt, courteous service. The accommodations were spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the whole environment at Terranea is ideal for relaxing and unplugging. This is a place to unwind, enjoy the scenery, and feel well taken care of. Loved it--already looking forward to coming back. I was here for a conference that my husband was attending. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous. Every piece of the grounds is meticulously cared for and it's beautiful to walk around. We stayed in one of the buildings outside of the main hotel. It had a nice little table outside and a seating area outside the room in the common area. The beds were super comfortable and the housekeeping staff did a wonderful job. The walking trail is amazing and definitely worth spending some time on during your stay. They have a splash pad for the little one and a waterslide for my older daughter. We had dinner at Catalina's kitchen . The ribeye was incredible, ahi tuna appetizer was divine, and the lava cake was to die for. Review #1012 - So here is the most high / low and reluctant 5-star review you'll ever read. I love Terranea. The property is gorgeous. The location is great and far from the LA grind. The place has everything (mostly) from tons of food options, a lovely hotel, conference space, wedding grounds, multiple pools, a spa, stuff for kids, and hiking trails, and 9 holes of challenging par-3 golf. It feels like the south of France here. Birds. Ocean. The breeze. The villas. How can this be a reluctant 5-stars you ask? Well 5-stars for the Golf course, the golf staff, and just how much of a gem that little hard par 3 actually is. If you can hit greens and make putts here...you have a good short game anywhere. I'm a golf club member and it's totally worth it for the free rounds and unlimited practice sessions and discounts. Terranea Golf is my therapy time. 5-stars for the property and the landscaping, and the views. Gorgeous. 5-stars usually for the coffee shop and for Nelson's and for the lobby bar (outside patio is amazing). Where Terranea lacks is the service staff. Well since covid I guess the training has gone down. The service has dropped and the food by the pool and customer care in and around the pools (especially spa pool) has been rough. Hours to order and get pretty basic and not great food. Hours. Hours to get a table bussed or a lounge area cleaned. It's kinda a shame. Because the spa is great. The amenities are great almost throughout the entire property. But the only place that I can trust i'm going to get great service is the golf. Maybe more later. But 5 reluctant stars for now. I kinda consider Terranea home. I'm here when I'm in LA. I expect top service. That isn't asking too much. read more

Valet car service was great, friendly and timely. Dinner at Marsel was lovely. Rooms are average quality but worn and carpet dirty. We won't be back. read more

Luxury hotel in RPV with golf, several restaurants, and ocean views. Had a short staycation here with my family in December. We ate at Catalina Kitchen and Nelson's as well. The best part of the hotel was being able to walk and enjoy the beautiful ocean views. It was very idyllic even though a lot of events like a holiday party and a wedding were taking place there. Valet parking is $67 for overnight parking and is required if you're staying on the property. Otherwise the daily rate is $27. We had a couple of small issues with the stay but nothing too big. Note that there is a Keurig machine with pods underneath the bathroom sink so don't make the same mistake we did and order room service just for the coffee. It took 30 minutes for room service as the dining staff was busy on a weekend morning. The checkout process was a bit confusing as we had left our luggage across from the front desk, but when we went to pick it up, we were told to go to the valet counter. We did so, and then the girl told us to drive to the executive building (near the handicap parking). The third person we spoke to (the valet attendant) eventually told us that he could get our bags for us and so we waited for a couple of minutes while he grabbed them with our car. Overall, it was still a good stay, but some details could be ironed out. read more

We made dinner reservations at Bashi before the game and ordered a few appetizers. Everything was really good. Our server was great, and although I don't remember his name, he was happy to introduce us to Adrian, who was running the Super Bowl party. To make a long story short, I asked Adrian if our party of seven could sit together, and he accommodated us right away with no fuss at all. He was fantastic and truly made our experience seamless and enjoyable. There was plenty of staff and food available throughout the night. The screen showing the game was top notch as well. For such a big screen, the picture quality was excellent. There were probably 200 to 250 people by the pool, and the crowd was a nice mix of locals with some visitors mixed in. The food was great, the drinks were great at the non hosted bar, and overall it was a really solid experience. Adrian was a big part of what made the day so enjoyable. We will definitely be back next year even though its on Valentines day. read more

It's truly a gem and one of my favorite places to relax and recharge. I also want to give a special mention to Nichelle, who we had the pleasure of meeting on one of our family trips. She radiates kindness and has such a warm, welcoming energy. She went out of her way to talk with us, made us feel so comfortable, and her hospitality really stood out. It's not every day you visit a resort and meet someone who makes the experience feel even more special, but that's exactly what she does. Terranea is already a magical place, but people like Nichelle elevate it even more. Terranea Resort was the perfect relaxing getaway for my girl and I. If you play your cards right you can really get a lot of experience for your hard earned money. Firstly, and this can not be understated.. The VIEWS, and scenery were magnificent, I was truly surprised sights like these are within this country. I really enjoyed taking in the views walking around the property. The beach cove was very cool, although a Public beach, was still not quite busy. The water was cool and the rocks slippery and wet. Bring river shoes if you plan on exploring close to the shore.. the pool was nicely sized, very cool, unfortunately we came on such a foggy day, which I believe to be the norm in Rancho Palos Verdes. Room experience We got the more adorable room, on the bottom floor (dog section) luckily little complains wirh the room as it was overall nice, smaller bathroom and shared porch space.. and just very far.. we had to basically traverse a maze to find it. Why my review only has three stars. 3/5 I would have loved to review this beautiful resort four stars. However I did have an experience where guest services was knocking when I was bathing and opened the door when I didn't answer. Luckily I had the deadbolt on. I also didn't like the fact that last checkout is 150$ for two hours extra. Lastly.. what beautiful place and lasting experience .. would come again.. I'll try to wake up earlier. read more

Reservation agent called me to book Reservation for resort view but promised me oveanview upgrade if I booked then. But left no record and I ended up staying at resort view. Called guest service to explain but was not honored what I was promised. Terrible start to my stay. read more

Terranea Resort - Resorts Near Me - Rancho Palos Verdes, California

Our recent stay at Terranea Resort landed on a rainy weekend, so there wasn't a ton to do indoors, but the Lexus Experience where you can take out a car for a few hours ended up being a fun perk. The resort itself has incredible ocean views and a beautiful coastal trail, which really do make it a great spot for whale watching or a quick local staycation. I can't speak to the bungalows or casitas, but the main resort rooms and suites felt a bit dated and definitely smaller than I expected for the price.​ The staff was the best part of our stay: everyone we interacted with was genuinely helpful and the concierge team went out of their way to acknowledge and celebrate a milestone with us, which was such a thoughtful touch on an otherwise mixed visit. I could absolutely see us coming back for a day trip to walk the trails and enjoy the views over a meal, but I don't know that I'd splurge on another full stay. read more

It's not really a luxury resort, but a resort with a luxury price tag. We arrived and were not really directed what to do in terms of parking or valet, so we just found a random spot in the inner circle and got our bags out-- we were given a luggage cart, so loaded things on there, but had no further direction. Partner went in to check in and I stayed outside to watch our bags because our stuff was left outside, unattended for a good 20 minutes after the bellhop/valet brought it over to their entrance area. I even went through our stuff a few times and was not stopped-- to show how lax the security is. Loaded luggage carts should be brought inside or behind a counter/always attended. After checking in we went to our room and had to wait another 20 minutes for our stuff to come up-- would have been faster if we had just brought it ourselves, with or without the luggage cart (which, we did not have one upon check out, so had to lug everything down ourselves anyways). We were complimentary upgraded to an ocean view room, which was appreciated! The room and bathrooms did feel quite dated though, and the bathroom glass doors slammed shut really loudly automatically, as well as the lights shut off automatically -- not helpful while showering/bathing. Went to the Spa and were not really given a proper tour or explanation of things, very rushed/mumbled, so as it was our first time here/at a spa, felt quite lost and overwhelmed. A giant bee also got stuck in my hair-- which, I mean, that's nature, but maybe suggest bug repellent in the spa areas. The Spa needed more indoor seating and an indoor co-ed lounge, as well as one of the showers was broken (without a sign), and the robes were all mismatched (didn't get a towel spa robe, but a plush room robe instead, which was very heavy and not conducive to the spa. Got massages (we were complementary upgraded to the Ocean Suite, but it was quite noisy outside the window during the session.) Had Dinner at Catalina Kitchen, which had a long line, despite reservations, and the food and service were terrible. After, we tried to walk around the resort at night but it's extremely dark, unsafe, and creepy - there are no/minimal lights on the paths, only one path around the hotel that is right up on a cliff, and no one around. The pools all close at 8PM as well, which is very early! Would've been nice to have at least 1-2 of the 4 pools open later and more lighting and music around outdoors, to actually enjoy the weather and ambience-- otherwise your day ends pretty much at dinner time! Bed was hard as a rock and pillow extremely thin and saggy -- horrible sleep and woke up in pain from that + after effects of the massage. In the morning, did a proper walk around of the resort -- it's nice, but definitely not as nice as resorts in Mexico for the same tropical/beach feel (The beach is rocky cliffs anyways), and the inside of the building is not that fancy/luxurious feeling or modern. Overall felt pretty dated from all the aesthetics and the complimentary toiletries as well all being an obscure brand and smelled badly (Fig supposedly). Stayed at chain hotels nicer than this for less-- had a nicer staycation at the VEA in Newport Beach. read more
