I took Dexter an expensive (to me) blade that's edge had been completely destroyed by someone that attempted to sharpen it that didn't know what they were doing. Dexter loves a challenge, so he took on my damaged blade. What I got back was a blade that had been corrected and re-profiled that was even better than new! Dexter is very good at what he does! He responded quickly and politely to my request on Yelp, with a quote and time estimate. I use my knife everyday, and really appreciate the quick turnaround. He sharpened a small chef's knife and a pair of scissors for me in under 5 minutes-$5 each. My knife now cuts through tomatoes again, better than it was even when brand new! read more

Cannot go wrong with sending a blade to Dexter! He does an outstanding job on even difficult blade shapes and super repairs of broken tips or dings. Very quick turnaround and reasonable rates! Highly recommended! read more

Specialties

I can sharpen most cutting tools found in the home and garage, including but not limited to kitchen knives, pocket knives, lawnmower blades, pruning tools, scissors, serrated knives, papercutters, food processor blades, and so on. I have experience sharpening high performance stainless steels used with high end tactical and hunting knives: 154CM, S30V, S35VN, CPM154, BG-42, as well as all mid and low grade steels used with such knives. All sharpening work is done by me, I do not have any employees. Please contact me ahead of time to book an appointment to drop your items off and at that time I will furnish my address. I am located a few mins from US 421 in Winston-Salem, close to Lewisville and Clemmons communities.

History

Established in 2014.

I started this in Spring of 2014 and this little turnkey operation has grown steadily since. Primarily serving the Piedmont Triad metro area and all its communities in between with professional sharpening services. I have established since day one, personalized customer service. Each sharpening order is handled in the same manner as if I were working on my own tools. I guarantee my work. If you are not happy with the work I have done for any reason, please bring to my attention and I will gladly fix at no extra cost. My love of knives combined with my love of sharpening has allowed me to serve this community in which I live.

Meet the Business Owner: Dexter E.

You will not find any other sharpening service that has the experience with knives as I do. Consistently published in print and online for close to 30 years working part time in the knife industry as a freelance writer. Currently serving as one of BLADE Magazine’s Field Editors and the only knife editorial contributor for Shoot On, I have used and tested every variety of knife blade steel as well as having experience in sharpening and maintaining knives in general. Why trust your knives and tools to anyone else? I am currently a vendor with Clemmons Farmers Market, providing onsite sharpening of knives and scissors only during the regular market season.

11/6 edit: yes when i initially saw the damage i was asked over the phone to bring it back, i told…read morethem i would AFTER speaking to a manager first. I still had another garment with them and when i went to pick it up i just didn't have the damaged garment with me. I never refused, he's lying. I said i needed to understand the process and what they would do (I'm nervous about it getting further damage) but he kept repeating that i refused to bring it back which never was the case. When i spoke to him he referred to using other chemicals to determine the cause of the issue and I'm not necessarily keen on them doing stuff i don't understand at this point. He wanted to overtalk me and not listen. Thats why i don't feel comfortable anymore. Why wouldn't i bring it back if that's how i get made whole? He's not making sense. I feel completely let down by these guys after using them exclusively for at least 4 years. They didn't call me back for 2 weeks after damaging a very expensive garment, insinuated that I'm making it up, and accused me of refusing to bring it back. I would've had no problem doing so had i understood the process/remedy but i don't really want them messing up my stuff even more. When talking to Brett about my apprehensions , he was very dismissive and unprofessional. He even stopped listening and it turned into a confrontation bc he would laugh at me while I'm talking as if my situation is funny. I don't feel comfortable working with him/them anymore. Since he said he doesn't care about my review, here it is.

We bought a house that likely never had the dryer vent cleared out and our clothes were just not…read moregetting dry, even after 3 runs in the dryer. I got bids from several companies through Yelp and ABS was the most readable quote. I got them scheduled and they showed up when they were supposed to do the job, they assessed the situation and got up in the attic to clean out the vent pipe leading to the roof. After around 30 minutes or less, the guys were done. Since then I have had ZERO issues with the dryer and should have gotten this done when I bought the house. Good service, I would use them again.

Have been a Pest X customer for a couple of years. So impressed with their level of service and…read moreprofessionalism that I had them replace all the vents around my home. Unfortunately, the vents and/or install were not up to standard for my home as the vents continuously fell out leaving my home exposed to pest/animals, etc. After an attempt by a Pest X technician to rectify the problem to no avail, I contacted the regional manager Chuck regarding my ongoing problem. Upon contact with Chuck, I immediately felt heard and confident that he would ensure that my problem was rectified. So much so that he (Chuck) made a personal visit to my home to assess the problem. Not only did Chuck send out technicians to rectify my problem with my vents, he sent out a team to reassess and address any pest issues that I may have incurred due to the problem with my vents. Based on my security feed, these tasks took several hours to complete. I remain convinced that Pest X is the "BEST" when it comes to professionalism, timeliness, and most importantly, the "SAFETY" and "WELL-BEING" of their customer and their property.
