I have been using Gilley's for quite a few years and I have tried other small engine repair places in the county and none compare to Gilley's service. Gilley is pretty much a one man show, though occasionally he'll have a couple guys that help him out. His pricing is average or possibly just a notch higher but his work is superb. He is as honest as they come and usually gives you a price before doing the job. He has never upped a price on me but if he runs into an unforeseen issue that will increase the fee, he will call before moving forward. Plus he puts a 6-month warranty on all his work. I have Gilley do all my routine maintenance on all my equipment and any other work needed. He has even replaced an entire engine for my riding mower that had a manufactured defect and the manufacturer paid him. He took it upon himself to deal with them so I wouldn't have to. Recently, I took something to him for him to fix and he told me it would cost more to fix than to buy a new one. He turned it away instead of being paid, that's genuine honesty. He also prefers to have things fixed the same day so I suggest getting your equipment to him early. He also has items for sale, new and used, so if your looking for something with a small engine but don't have a big budget, I'd go see him first. If you give Gilley's a try, I'm sure he'll become your go to as well. Ps. He has a Pepsi vendor sitting outside his business where the 20oz bottle is only $1.00. I recently had a Husqvarna riding mower lose power so I called Gilley's as they'd previous done simple old gas in carburetor repairs for me that turned out ok and I thought this also might be the case. Gilley missed our appointment date to pick the mower up but was there the next day and immediately noted that one cylinder wasn't firing. He took it back to his shop and then called to say my Kawasaki engine was blown. I was immediately doubtful of this as other than a loss of power there were no catastrophic noises coming from the engine. Ultimately Gilley offered to sell me another riding mower for $650 or replace my Kawasaki engine with a used Briggs and Stratton for $1,200. I decided to see the damage in person and Gilley correctly pointed out a cylinder head overheating issue that caused the valve guide to slip in the cylinder which obstructed the rocker arm movement resulting in bent pushrods. Gilley indicated the piston and cylinder wall was damaged beyond economical repair but yet didn't perform a borescope to confirm this. At this point I knew something wasn't right as this was basic mechanics 101 to check this. I had him deliver the mower back to my house and about two hours later I had the cylinder head off and found no piston or cylinder wall damage. I ordered original Kawasaki parts and for around $330 had the mower running again like new. Friendly and helpful but he either completely missed the troubleshooting mark or was just trying to sell his used equipment to unsuspecting people. Based on this experience I won't be returning and I wouldn't recommend Gilley's. read more

Gilley's has had our chain saw that needs an oil gasket repair for four months. Totally unresponsive. Repairs costs unknown. Date of completion also unknow. At this point, it would have been cheaper to replace the chainsaw. Find someone else for your small engine repair. read more
