The Winter Park Farmers Market has been a local staple for many years. I haven't been since they…read morerelocated it to the field in Central Park (instead of the Farmers Market venue itself). I'm guessing it just outgrew that area/space. There are a ton of food vendors, plants, and farms selling fresh produce. The veggie selection looked really good today, especially from Frog Song Organics which is where I picked up some mushrooms, peppers, and tomatoes. I also got some amazing jalapeño ranch pickles from the pickle vendor there. I forgot the name but it had "Dill" in it. So good! Also loved the tent sampling all the dips -- they give you pretzel sticks to try as many as you want. They were very tasty. We brought the whole family out today and it was SO HOT. The only bummer is that there's like zero shade coverage and the sun was brutal. We couldn't stay very long because my toddler was getting overheated. We'll likely go back once the weather starts to cool down.

Ok- so caveat is that I used to love the WP Farmer's Market when it was in and around the old train station venue in Winter Park. Knowing how charming and special it was in that space influences my review because now it is in an open field area, still in the heart of Winter Park, but lacking the charm (and more importantly, shade) of the old location. With that said, the market is robust and has a ton of offerings including coffee, produce, eggs, prepared food, seafood, a knife sharpener, etc. I know several friends who go every so often for the knife sharpening alone. The fact that it's in downtown Winter Park means there's plenty of parking around and the walk to and from the market is absolutely beautiful. Just be sure to wear sunscreen and bring water!

However, they have truly embraced the times and stepped up to coordinate one of the most seamless order pick ups with far more options than they can normally house in their store location in collaboration with their local farm suppliers. It was a really great way to get access to local food in a time when innovation is most appreciated as is the ability to access fresh food when the normal grocery stores are overwhelmed with visitors. I will definitely continue to support this great local business that has made things easier in a time when many things are harder. Edit: apparently the store front has closed (unrelatedly- they announced this coming change on January 8th due to a failed lease renewal) but the business is still running through their pick up at 8505 Silver Star Rd and online ordering. The system was actually designed prior to these times and just happened to line up perfectly). This family run business is passionate about improving access to locally grown and more organic foods, and they have done an amazing job.

The drinks were okay overall and refreshing, but coming from the San Francisco Bay Area, where there are so many strong boba options, I found the quality a bit underwhelming. The flavors were decent, but neither drink stood out as particularly memorable. The taro lacked some of the richness and depth I usually look for, and the mango drink felt a little too sweet for my taste. The boba itself was acceptable, though the texture wasn't as chewy and fresh as what I'm used to at many Bay Area boba shops. Service was friendly, and the drinks were prepared quickly. The vibe is casual and welcoming, making it a convenient stop if you're in the area and craving a sweet drink. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but having tried many boba shops in the Bay Area, I felt the drinks didn't quite compare in terms of flavor and quality. It satisfied the craving, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to return.

On two separate Monday evenings, while seated as a Stardust customer in an area apart from the market, I was verbally confronted by market staffers with no provocation. The first incident involved a male staffer who accused me of obstructing their load-out process -- after the load-out had already been completed without any obstruction from me. When I politely offered to move my table anyway, he escalated, raised his voice, stood over me, and demanded that I "sit in the corner" every time I come to the cafe because he's "been doing this market for fifteen years." His tenure does not give him authority over cafe customers. The second incident was more serious. While spending time with a friend after wrapping up a service I offer with full knowledge and support of the cafe, I returned from the restroom to find an anonymous, defamatory note on my table. Shortly after, a female staffer (Gabby) approached me in front of a full seating area and launched into a loud, disruptive rant, shouting accusations and declaring that I was no longer permitted to be at the cafe on Monday evenings. She has no such authority. When I calmly pointed this out and asked her to leave, she continued shouting until I firmly repeated my request. Multiple people present were visibly unsettled by her behavior. Both staffers invoked "knowing the owner" and "fifteen years" as justification for ordering around a private citizen on property they do not control. At no point did I raise my voice, use profanity, or act in any way that was inappropriate. Stardust Cafe itself is wonderful and their staff has been nothing but welcoming. The Audubon Community Market, however, is run by people who have a deeply disordered sense of their own authority and apparently feel entitled to harass members of the public. Two incidents, two different staffers, same pattern. Give this market a pass.
