I just love a fun, free, public event in San Francisco. Winter Walk was a festive, well-organized, and well-curated holiday event that I'd recommend to anyone and everyone visiting Union Square during this time of the year.

Winter Walk (December 13-24) is located in Union Square on Stockton St. between Post & O'Farrell St. I wouldn't recommend driving here as traffic was terrible with cars honking everywhere. Luckily, our hotel was close by and we walked over. There are food trucks and live performances. Santa can also be found here as well as Mario. The event isn't big, but it's free.

I attended the Winter Walk on 12/13/25. It was a great time, well attended with really good energy. It's been a while since I've seen the city so alive and operating in it's normal capacity. Big shoutout to all who played a part in making this event happen. On behalf of The Bay we appreciate you all.

Small fair near union square with some food trucks, craft shops and other things. They have a Santa clause and everything is on a couple of closed off streets.

Even on a rainy day, we enjoyed checking out the Winter Walk in Union Square. The holiday marketplace was set up indoors, so we were able to stay dry as we explored various vendor booths. I loved the vintage goods we found, and we also got ourselves some german chocolate henny parfaits from Nadine's Sweet Treats. We wiped down the tables when the rain stopped to enjoy mulled wine from one of the drink tents and some grub from Dominic's Food Truck (the filet mignon sliders and crab and shrimp sandwich were delicious), though there were several other appetizing Off the Grid food options available as well. We were there in the mid afternoon when live music was on hold due to the 49ers game (according to their website's listed schedule), but we did enjoy a bit a magic and goofy kid-friendly entertainment from Boswick the clown/juggler. Parking was pricey, but plenty of garages are available in Union Square, and at least the event was free. Overall we had a good time.

If you find yourself in or very near Union Square this holiday season, check out the Winter Walk in the heart of Union Square. In fact, if you're in Union Square, you can't miss it. The pedestrian-only walkway, stretches from Neiman Marcus/Louis Vuitton (on Geary Street), down to Market Street. At the Winter Walk, you'll find a couple of food trucks, along with various pop-ups, like Candytopia (no photo ops here, just their stall selling candy), a macaroon pop-up, and a BBQ food truck. I've visited here both during the afternoons, and in the evening. It's way more lively and fun in the evening, when all the pop-ups and food trucks are in full operation. I certainly wouldn't make a special trip to Winter Walk, as it's just a mere couple of blocks or so long. We were finished in about 15 minutes, but if you're nearby, it's still worth wandering through to get you into the holiday spirit in downtown San Francisco!

It's the most WONDERFUL time of the year! San Francisco is beautiful during the winter time, especially near Union Square. One can easily find the Holiday Tree, the Ice Rink, and the Winter Walk, all within the same area. The Winter Walk offers something for the whole family; food trucks, children activities, Cabin Bar, Photobooths, and Candytopia. Off the Grid partners with Winter Walk to bring 4-5 delicious food trucks. This time, there was Capelo's Barbeque, Senor Sisig, and Jack Rabbit Kitchen and Bakery. It's a huge green open area for young kids to play and have a great time, and several areas to sit and eat. Conveniently located near the Powell Station. In my opinion, not much to see other than the food trucks, but if you're around the area you should check them out!

Winter Walk is the best street event in Union Square during the holidays. I really enjoy it each year.

Ever since then, I've wanted to hike this peak, today I have achieved my wish. Early June with mild coastal temp, 50s-60s. Started up Matt Davis Trail in the foggy forest, to Pantoll Campground, to West Point Inn where we can look down to the top of the fog layer, to the Fire Lookout building at the Peak. Then we came down reverse but split off to Steep Ravine and Dip Sea trail after the campground. I've also always wanted to climb that ladder. This hike provided views of the Pacific ocean on the West as well as views of Richmond-San Rafael Bridge on the East side. I thoroughly enjoyed the cool lush forest, but actually my favorite section was the single track along the slope of the open area after the Mt Tam State Park sign.

My sister and I arrived before 8am at the Watershed parking lot and barely found a space. We did the trail that took us to the West Point Inn for the pancake breakfast and round trip was close to 5 miles so it was a great workout. There's gorgeous views and well! On the way back to the 101 however it's a mess. The road on the way down is crowded with parked cars, which makes driving through challenging. That's the only thing about this park, other than that I'd love to come back in spring when everything is green and vibrant!

Then I kept going! When I got to the conservatory of flowers, I turned around and went all the way back and down past rainbow falls, Lloyd lake, past Hellman hollow to Spreckle's lake, said hello to the Bison and took a left and exited just past chain of lakes. What an adventure! I saw red tail hawks, blue jays, blue herons, all kinds of ducks, two turtles and of course the Bison. There are some beautiful views, art exhibitions, interactive displays and tons of photo worthy spaces. There are these beautiful pianos set up throughout the park for the public to play which I enjoyed practicing on. So many of the local plants are blooming so the flowers and trees sing with life. I stuck to the pedestrian trails but there are so many options off the beaten path for both hike vibes and bike rides. With the unique variety of San Francisco weather, it can go from overcast to sunny in a matter of moments, so it's always nice to have layers.

The Dutch Windmill is located here and is a magnificent piece of equipment that was restored in the 1980s. There is a sign on the windmill that explains the history and it was originally built in the early 1900s and used to pump water. It was crowded mid-day on Sunday with many people taking pictures with the tulips and picnicking with blankets. It is important to drive slowly while in the park since many people walk in the street. Finding a place to park can be difficult depending on the day and the event. There are so many things to do here as this is a huge park. The Japanese tea garden, museum, and tulip garden are just a few of the places I've visited here.

The park is beautifully maintained, with clean walking paths, manicured gardens, and enough benches and seating spaces. You can easily find a little corner to make your own for a bit. There is a rather large and modern kids playground and even more large grassy areas, both for those who want to lounge and for the dogs that want to run around. The layout is more challenging and perfect for little explorers who love to climb, balance, and stay active. My 3-year-old always finds something new to do, and it keeps them engaged for a long time. I also appreciate that babies aren't left out--there are designated areas where younger kids can safely play too. The restroom is conveniently located and clean, which is a big plus for families. That said, some of the rocky edges can be a bit risky for adventurous kids, so it's definitely a place where you'll want to keep a close eye on them at all times. The only downside is parking--it can be pretty tough to find a spot, especially during busy times. Overall, it's a fun and exciting playground that's great for kids of different ages, as long as you're prepared for a bit of supervision and a parking hunt!
