Michael, the proprietor, seemed okay when he was paid $75 to drive five minutes to my parent's house to finish the process of hooking up their new dish box to the tv. Well, he screwed it up and the tv was playing from the dvd "source" and the dvd was no longer playing. This was operational before. As the mediary in the this process I told him the problem and he headed back up to the house. His communication to me was: well somthing happened here, I don't know what. No one in the household touched anything since his inital "repair" so I'm repeating over and over that he did something wrong, not us. He's still telling me he doesn't understand and our system didn't make sense to him. Uhh...he left the house upon the initial visit as if everything was fine. Anyhow, he's not taking responsibility and I'm not allowing him to charge my elderly parents another $75 (outrageous for $5 minutes of work) so I get mad and repeat myself again. He's accusing me of making him out to be a swindler. Ummm, no... I'm looking for some accountability. He finally, and in a huff of anger says he's taking responsibility for it and won't charge them extra. Without even raising my voice he was very angry with me. Here is all I wanted: "Maam, I'll be sure to take care of this as part of the initial service seeing that you didn't touch the work I've already done." Done. That's all it takes. But he kept telling me how things weren't set up right and there's no way the dvd player ever worked before because the tv only has one output...lalalalala. And mad customers don't get yelled at. And if you knew me, you'd know I NEVER get upset and I'm the friendliest person. That's just how irritating this man's communication was and his insistance on being right about the system not working, when it was working just fine. Ugh.

I've been searching online and the boring box stores for some good inexpensive quality speakers for…read moremy personal laptop setup. Fortunately, I decided to venture down a search into the more local small businesses and came upon this cool old school & quirky shop. I think the gentleman's name was Jim. Older dude that could pass as your nerdy techy friend who's probably collected every tech gadget since the original Tron came out. Told him what I was looking for but I gradually got discouraged as all he was showing me were the bigger style bigger sound units that are common for home systems. But, alas! With a little patience we revealed a new treasure: smaller desk top speakers! Minor speaker mesh stains on the front but super decent with a little TLC. He was super friendly and chill, even making an effort to find parts that could potentially be missing from this set (like compatible power cord). It also came with an amp box that I've got sitting below my desk table, which was a nice surprise (I keep it plugged in for the deeper sounds or just unplugged for more "regular(?)" crispy audio). All that for a really awesome deal; I think it was something like $15-30 or something crazy like that. Good shit, dude! Thank you. If you're looking for small speakers, I probably snagged the last set but I definitely recommend this place for any help with acheiving 2 things at once: reusing/upcycling any sort of old working electronics and supporting a damn good local friendly small business.

If Jim doesn't have what I need, he sees to it that I know where else to try. He is a fount of…read moreknowledge and cheerful assistance.

Happily, this gave us the opportunity to finally upgrade our 10+-year-old surround sound wiring with a more modern, sleeker setup. We reached out to Intellihome, they heard our ideas, added a few additional quality-of-life features that we hadn't even thought of, and got to work. Im not sure what I was expecting, but the end result exceeds even those vague expectations. The new wiring is a big future-proofing upgrade, wires are tucked neatly into the wall, and as you can see in my photo, there are zero cables hanging from the TV -- a crucial feature when you have four curious, chaotic cats. Intellihome was extremely easy to work with, exceedingly professional, and they do great work. When we eventually opt for further surround sound upgrades, we'll be calling Intellihome.

Quick response and quote for the work I needed done. 2. Easy to set up a time. 3. Zeb was on time and called ahead when he was on his way. 4. Zeb not only installed the wall mount but also put it together! 5. I appreciated the customer ed on how to reposition TV without unplugging it by accident (it had a short cord). I'll be hiring them if I need help with more stuff!
