In an odd sort of way, it turned out my first choice wasn't my best choice!…read more I came across the listing and thought "OK - it's a little corny name, 'Those Tech Guys'" but honestly, if you hang around tech guys at all, you get it. I am far from a professional when it comes to IT installations, but I know enough to be dangerous. And after getting quotes to install ethernet in my 1980s circa home, one never wired for ethernet, one that just went through a significant renovation where I, in my supreme wisdom said "WiFi is great, now! Who need hardwires anymore?" was now faced with retrofitting several rooms and office with ethernet and said, this guy over here, the independent with a normal sounding company name, yeah - lets go with him! Mistake!! After schedule, and reschedule, and delays, and reschedule, we got nowhere with contractor number one. Meanwhile, Roberto and Peter at Those Tech Guys had patiently followed up several times, continued to be pleasant and professional, and AFTER I said no thank you I am going to go with someone else! So I made the dreaded call back - "So remember when I said if things change . . . " Peter was quick to jump on the phone, and walk me through things at every step. Gave me a highly competitive bid, and an install time of only a few days from when I called. They cam onsite, were clean courteous, and efficient. They played with my dog (I mean who doesn't love a bowling ball Staffy Bull Terrier mix?) and made light work of the install, and the final cost (with tip!) was even below the initial quote. This was made possible as Peter walked my home and together we found opportunities to do things more quickly, and save a few dollars along the way. Apparently, they also do a lot of home theater installations in King County so consider them also for home theater installations if you're also speaking with the usual home theater companies in King County. I can recommend Reference Media from two perspectives: 1. They can put together a good sounding system: Believe it or not. stores that carry expensive audio equipment aren't always good at creating systems that sound good. I listened to the Acoustic Signature turntable in their main listening room and it sounded more veiled than I would have expected. The owner knew right away that it was the Pro-ject phono amp that was causing that veiling. To his credit, switching to a digital source through the same system showed that was the case as the same system immediately started sounding pretty epic. 2. They carry a lot of less common audio brands. What initially motivated me to visit Reference Media was that they were a Nottingham Analogue turntable dealer. I've been researching options to upgrade my turntable which has a power supply that is probably overdue to fail. In addition, they also carry Gold Note & Boulder. Though these are more esoteric brands, I would encourage you to visit them even if you have a more reasonable budget. They also carry more mainstream audio brands such as Rega, Marantz, and NAD. I believe a good proportion of their clientele comes from Western Washington University and I am confident that they can put together a great sounding system at more reasonable price points.

We had these guys out for a fairly straightforward job by their standards--we needed to hide some…read morewires, tuck away a couple components, and set up the TV sound to come through some additional speakers for added volume. They showed up right on time and got right to work. They did everything quickly and pleasantly and exactly as asked; they even figured out stuff that I wouldn't have been able to explain--even though all the equipment was already here, it wasn't stuff they sold. Today Prices…read moresent a technician who corrected the problem by locating the transformer on a more secure circuit. The tech did a great job and had the problem corrected within 30 minutes. Thanks! Previous review. We have been dealing with Prices Alarms since 1997. Our house had a Prices system when we purchased it. Since then we have had two upgrades. The most recent in 2011. Installs went smoothly. In 2011 we also subscribed to monitoring. And this too was pretty good, however the first system was not installed correctly and subsequent systems have had a serious problem in that first the installers just left the wires to the sensors on the crawlspace floor. During the upgrade this was corrected, however the installers told my wife there were problems with the electrical hook up. The system was connected to a ground fault circuit breaker that will trip occassionally when water gets on the outside electrical plugs or an older appliance is unplugged from a bathroom electrical outlet. When this happens the circuit breaker trips and without any indication the security system back up battery runs dead. This has killed two batteries. The dead battery loss of power alerts the security monitors and they call to ask what happened. I contacted Prices to have them come re-wire the system to another circuit breaker, however they told me I had to pay for this. I don't think I should have to pay for a bad installation. So far we have determined to subscribe to another security provider because this is really unacceptable that Prices does not do a proper install then wants the customer to pay for their mistake. Sorry but we will find someone else.
