Found this pub in Old Town Stockholm when we went to watch some weekend football matches (European not American). The pub itself had a good vibe where everyone was friendly and genuinely enjoying themselves. The decor of the pub was a lot of a lot of pub signs and usual things that you would find in a pub. It has a small but pretty cool layout when you could go down some winding stairs and find yourself in another seating area. Because of the pubs popularity and game time it was very packed in the bar area but the bar tender did a good job of attending to everyone. As for the food I enjoyed the fries we had and the vegan burger was alright. As you know my ratings go off of the expectations of how the place rates against similar places so as old school pubs go this was good, but do understand that typical old school pubs aren't well lit, don't have all balanced tables, and great seating in the entire place to enjoy the game. So if you're looking for those things you might want to check out some other places. read more

An incredibly fun place in Gamla Stan! Spread over two floors, the main one at street level has the big TVs for watching sports and the Jameson Cellar at the basement level is AMAZING! it's like a maze of sorts with a lot of nooks and little alcoves for quiet conversations. Even though the main area where the band sets up is a tight squeeze, it helped us to make friends with locals fast and had a great time. The FREE music is awesome too. I hated the fact that the bartender measured my gin when I asked for a G&T, but what the heck! this is Scandinavia right? I need to pre-game at the hotel next time before going out. read more

I've been here many times over the years and have always love this old town (Gamla Stan) pub. The venue is cosy, pub style, and food is served too, although I didn't try any (nor have I ever I don't think) so can't comment on the food but the liquids are great and varied. Nice spot to check out some live music but be warned it is extremely extremely small. The staff will serve you but it has more of a lounge feel then a bar, so dont expect over the top service. The day we came it was a blues band playing in the basement great sound but no seating. Overall good place to grab a beer and listen to some music. read more

Very friendly folks. As an american in europe you run into this bizarre situation where you have to go to the bathroom, cant find anywhere so you stop and get a beer to go to the bathroom, and then the cycle continues. This is how we ended up here. They had a lot of beers on tap, soccer(futbol) on the tv, and a nice outdoor patio to people watch and imbibe. On the outer part of the old town area, a good last stop if you are heading back to hotels in that direction. read more

Oh my, oh my -- this place has some fantastic music! The house blues band are 4 incredibly talented guys, mostly from America (living here now of course), who just absolutely kill it. The guitarist was one of the best I have ever seen and the front man has so much soul and vibe (and talent on the harmonica and sax). I really had a special night here listening to these guys, and the other talented musicians of Stockholm that they opened up the band to. It turned what I thought would be an average Tuesday night out at a pub with some background noise into a night I will tell friends about and bring friends to for quite some time! The other really cool part about this place is the catacomb like basement with lots of little rooms winding underneath the pub. You can get some pretty cozy spots but it could be a little off-putting if you want the vibe of a group of strangers hanging out at the bar. I found a couch area that was super chill and didn't feel too closed off. I think the crowd here was generally friendly too -- not a given at any Stockholm establishment. The upstairs bar is probably a better place to strike up a random conversation though. The beer prices are fine, actually I think they had a good selection on tap upstairs. I didn't try the food so I can't comment on prices or quality there -- next time. I would definitely return here I would definitely recommend you come here as well. read more

Quaint, cozy pub right in the heart of the old town, Gamla stan. The setup before you even get there is great: narrow, medieval passageways lined in cobblestone. Probably one of the most scenic parts of Stockholm. Arriving at Wirstroms, you're greeted by a classic Irish pub in red painted wood. That's already welcoming, but its inside where Wirstroms truly differentiates itself. First - and of course most importantly - the beer selection is stellar. They have St. Erik's IPA on tap, a local choice which is also one of the best IPAs I've ever had. I was equally impressed by their craft selection, most notably Brother Thelonious from North Coast Brewing Company. I've been to NCBC on the far flung, windswept California coast and let's just say it's "out there". So for a pub 5,000 miles away to have that notable beer, I was quite impressed. The upstairs bar is narrow: more cozy than confined. Downstairs through they have plenty of seating in their atmospheric basement. Wirstroms has live music most nights of the week (nice touch), and to top it all off, the staff was congenial indeed. Highly recommend if you need to get your pub-on in Stockholm. read more

That's my favorite pub in Sthlm! It is cosy and perfect for a drink with your friend(s). I would say that it is not adapt for more than 8-9 people groups. It could seem a small place, but it is like an ants' nest! There is also a wide range of tap beers and liquors. I really suggest to come here, especially during live music nights ;) read more

A great Irish pub in the heart of Old Town. I came here at the recommendation of a friend who advised to check out the basement bar. The pub itself is quite narrow but there is staircase in the back that goes to a basement with another bar and occasional live music. Though the space itself was quite interesting, the basement bar was closed for some reason during my visit. The bartender at the main bar was very friendly and knows how to pour a proper pint of Guinness. I'm sure this place is more lively and energetic on the weekends but I enjoyed the low key opportunity to enjoy the soccer game with a pint before heading back to my hotel. read more

Wirstroms looks very crowded when you first walk in but just keep going...down and down into the depths of the catacombs and you'll find a cozy place to hang out. I really enjoyed both nights that I spent at Wirstroms. Both nights they had live jazz music that was really good (the music area did get very crowded as people gathered around to hear). My only complaint is that the first night I came with a group of 5 and we were told repeatedly by the bartenders that our requests for drinks were too complicated (which I do understand if you are busy and it's a large group). There seemed to be a good mix of locals and tourists (although that being said we were directed here by a Swede married to an Irishman so that might be biased). Will definitely be back on my next visit to Old Town! read more

After walking past I noticed interesting characters sitting outside enjoying their beverages. I joined into the conversation and ended up meeting some cool locals here. We shared quite a number of drinks, and they were very fun people. The staff here is very nice and the place is well run. The bar has an excellent choice of beer as well. It gets very crowded inside, there is very little room. The downstairs is nice as well, they had a band down there who were pretty decent. read more

This place excels on a few levels: 1) It's a German (Bavarian) beer 'hall'. They serve their beers in litres. This makes Wirströms automatically awesome. 2) It serves the best (THE BEST) burger in Stockholm. In a city replete with bad frozen veal-like (read mystery meat) burgers, they have a thick, juicy, ground beef patty with all the fixins. 3) The drinking atmosphere is second-to-none and in Gamla Stan this is one of the very few places I frequent. My only complaint is that it can get crazy crowded and the downstairs can get a little claustrophobic, but chalk it up to the atmosphere, and you won't regret it. A must in Stockholm. read more

This pub is good if you're looking for something a little different while in Old Town Stockholm. Location is fantastic. Most people in there are from the UK so not ideal if you're looking for a very Swedish experience. Good drinks selection. The food was fine. Can get very crowded but they have a very cool cellar area downstairs. My advice would be to take your drink down there and listen to some good metal. read more

A lovely oasis in the enigma that is Gamla Stan. You're in Stockholm, you have to visit beautiful and charming Gamla Stan, then you start getting really annoyed and wonder how one beautiful little island can be so damn cluttered with tourists (yeah, I was one of them) and tchotchke shops. This, of course, is where Wirströms Pub comes in. The beer list is varied and the prices are reasonable for Stockholm. The atmosphere is great. There's proper football on the telly. After a few restorative pints you remember why you went on vacation and why you're visiting Gamla Stan. read more

My favorite pub in Old Town by far. The cellar is tons of fun and live music every night exempt Sunday. The beer selection is vast by Stockholm standards. Which is to say it has about 15-20 solid options. If you are reading this and nearby, grab a cold one and walk through all the rooms in the cellar. read more

I've been at Wirströms three times now and I really like it. The food is really delicious. The nachos are delicious, and I had a veggie burger with fries two times, which are really really good. The last one was extraordinary good, with a big mushroom and halloumi cheese. Yummy!! The staff is really friendly and most of them are always ready to have fun and have some jokes on their lips ;) I am already looking forward to coming back and having a nice cool Kilkenny :) read more

Wirströms Pub must be one of Stockholm's best kept secrets - a fantastic little pub in the touristy old town with friendly and welcoming staff. If you are lucky enough to drop in on a Tuesday evening you will enjoy some of the best live blues jamming in the country - and there is no entrance charges or other hidden fees other than the selection of fantastic beverages behind the bar. I recommend inquiring about the guest beer. If you are up for a pub quiz - Thursday's the night so be there early to be sure you get a seat. read more

Amazing pub...the staff is very chilled out...they have a good spread of drinks at very good prices...the ambiance is cozy and great.
