Ben was fantastic on the acoustic guitar, excellent voice and sense of humor. It was a small group when we went but he still worked the crowd. The boat was clean and I appreciated that they had binoculars available in each bench seat so you could take advantage of seeing the sights. Ben also does some of the scenic tours so he threw in a few nuggets of info about the area in between songs but overall the focus was on the music and enjoying the views. Sunset was perfect! Jim was our captain and he was excellent at navigating the choppy water and giving us a smooth, dry ride. It was so much fun exploring Plum Island! We loved it. I wouldn't recommend the Death's Door Cruise if you get seasick, though, because Lake Michigan gets pretty choppy and changes rapidly. Stick to an inland cruise instead, if you are prone to getting seasick. Our daughter was able to drive the boat for a while and she loved it. She was the only kid on the tour and still enjoyed every minute of it!

This place made renting a wave runner easy and painless. We came on the weekend and we only had to…read morewait 1 hour for a wave runner without a reservation. I wasn't upset since it was the day after the 4th. All I had to do was complete a short common sense test and I had a temporary boating license in WI. The cost was $90 for an hour of wave running, plus another 10 for the test. The runner itself was in very good condition and we were able to get up to about 35-40 MPH.

Bring snacks and beverages. 3.) Plan to spend some time in Gills rock, there are little shops, restaurants, and an ice cream place. Our captain was Robbo and the crew for the day was Bunny. Kids 12 and under were half price (bonus), and as my 12 year old said, "it.was.awesome!". They had a great knowledge of Door County and local shipwrecks. The captain was also a diver so was able to tell us about what the shipwrecks looked like from the bottom of the water. The took us to Plum Island to give a very thorough history of Deaths Door Passage, the ships that travel through it, and the lighthouses. We also drove around Pilot Island, to learn about its past and current state (which was bizarre). You could tell they really cared about the area and wanted to pass their knowledge on to us. Before leaving it was a nice warm day in door county, by the time we got out on the water we found ourselves putting on all our layers, so pack accordingly. The crew encouraged food and beverages, which we regretted not bringing. Tips are appreciated!

If you are out of shape and don't exercise on a consistent basis... RUN! This is not for beginners! Most of the people with us looked to be in decent shape and we're dying to get to the caves and we're dead on the way back. Hold on to your horses, and be ready to give up your arms to the endless paddling. The best comparison is being on a rowing machine for 2.5 hours non stop. Stop paddling and you get left behind to wine with all the others that can't paddle. For the majority of the group, this was an interesting attempt at turning a workout into a so called adventure. Save yourself the $65 per person, rent the kayak for $15/hr and paddle until your arms give out, or better yet, drive cave point and jump a few times for free! Btw.... There's only one small cave.
