After undergoing a planned 12-hour reconstructive surgery, the level of post-operative care I…read moreexperienced raised serious concerns for me about patient safety. Recovering from a procedure of that magnitude requires attentive monitoring and compassionate care. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I was shuffled around for a room and then placed in a very small room and often felt largely left on my own during my stay. The staff was poorly equipped to handle my recovery. The lack of knowledge was infuriating. They would crush time released medications and I was told if I didn't take it then I would have to stay in pain. (My mouth was wired shut and it was like battery acid with the syringe. They didn't care.) There were long periods where I struggled to get assistance, and the level of attentiveness from staff did not reflect the seriousness of my condition. I would consider the care here unethical and inhumane. I also observed that my room was not cleaned consistently during my stay, which is alarming for a surgical patient where infection prevention should be a priority. What troubled me most was the lack of compassion and responsiveness from most members of the staff. After undergoing such a major operation, patients should feel supported and cared for. Instead, I frequently felt like an inconvenience rather than someone recovering from extensive surgery. Hospitals should be places where patients feel safe and supported during their stay. I hope the administration takes feedback like this seriously and works to improve the quality of care provided to not only surgical patients but all patients. You can tell who's there for just a paycheck.

Of course you don't get rest in a hospital but they made sure to try to make it comfortable. That room in my opinion was prehistoric. Nothing about that room gave labor and delivery. It was very small and cramped. Tv remote had to be switched out because that wasn't working the first hour. The sleep sofa was in an odd space. But once I delivered I was moved to a recovery room in the jones building. The room was much nicer, but small. The limit is four guest but to be honest that's too much. I also love the celebration menu for the new parents. Steak, lobster Mac and cheese, spinach and key lime cheese cake. A very good reward after not being on a clear liquid diet for two days.

My experience with Medical Pain Management was nothing short of malpractice…read more First, I was given incorrect information about anesthesia charges. I was told Medicare would cover anesthesia for a facet joint procedure. That is not true. Medicare does not pay for anesthesia in this case. I only learned this on the morning of the procedure, while sitting in a crowded waiting room, that I owed $136 out of pocket. There was no prior transparency or discussion. I disclosed an extreme intolerance to steroids and refused the individual cortisone injection that was recommended. Despite this, the doctor injected me not once but twice with steroids with a second recommendation of joint facet procedures. As a result, I experienced severe adverse reactions, including psychosis, persistent, untreatable yeast infections, and extreme hair loss, including my eyebrows and lashes. These symptoms lasted more than five months and significantly disrupted my life, including canceling two planned vacations. When I later requested the procedure without steroids, it did nothing to relieve my pain and instead increased my discomfort for days at the injection sites. I then underwent a wet needling procedure during which a nerve was irritated, worsening my condition and zero pain relief I ultimately had to plead the gate keepers to request pain management pharmaceutical relief from the Dr. In hindsight, seeking treatment at this practice caused significant, long-lasting harm. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this practice and would rate it zero stars if that were an option.

Double zero thumbs down rating…read more Absolutely the very worst experience in seeking to receive urgently needed medical care I have ever experienced or even heard about. The level of dissatisfaction with every aspect of this physician's practice is off the charts. Caveat Emptor! I plan to file a formal complaint with UnitedHealthcare. The online video promising same week treatment is fraudulent, based on my experience. No call backs, appointment times not kept, emails not answered, promises to schedule MRIs not upheld, extremely long phone wait times, and in most cases, the phone is not answered. Balls dropped at every turn, all the while I, as a referred patient, am in need of treatment. My experience is not unique. Just look at other reviews. Wish I had seen them before seeking treatment and wasting valuable time working toward resolution of a back injury. Any other business run this way would lose all customers. Find another provider. I will be working to ensure that this physician is removed as a preferred provider within my health plan.

But when people really need the best care, they come to Houston from everywhere in the world. I was diagnosed with lung cancer and had a robotic assisted surgery which took half of my left lung and I was alert conscious and feeling good just a few hours after the 5-hour procedure. because Dr. Kim used robots so the incisions were small, and my recovery was quick. I was sent home the next day. One day stay for major surgery! The timeliness of care was excellent. it was 2 weeks from referral to meet with the surgeon and two additional weeks to schedule the procedure, so I was essentially cured of my cancer within one month. this compares very favorably to the other cancer hospital next foor, which has a waiting list. to summarize, I had a great surgeon, a state-of-the-art operating room, competent nurses and everyone had a good attitude. really couldn't be better.
