Amazing breakfast and fellowship. The dogs are loving and not overpowering unless you all are in the pool...They love the pool too!

The the owner Tim then went further to accuse us of leaving our room in shambles with lube and other paraphernalia all over. I was genuinely shocked at these accusations given we always leave with the bed stripped down, the towels in a single pile with the bedding and wipe down the sink for stray toothpaste or shave cream. Tim's behavior was unconsciousable and we will never attempt to book with this establishment again. If we want to deal with rude there are numerous establishments in the area that can accommodate that. I cannot in good conscious recommend the Sunburst Inn and will be telling those we have recommended in the past about the shawty treatment we received.

Arizona Sunburst Inn - The pool and hammock. A windy day so leaves hit the pool, otherwise the pool has been clear of debris. Perfectly refreshing!

The entryways automatic door opened into a lobby that was well lit, clean and calming. There was a welcoming area for dog treats and a water bowl for your four legged friends, and nearby fresh orange spa water for us humans. The rooms were spacious and had a lot of drawer storage for guests and long stays. My 12 year old squealed with delight when she saw the complimentary teddy bear on the bed. It gave her bunny doll she brought a friend. I loved the shower pressure and temperature so much I didn't want to get out! Hahaha. I appreciate the great lighting and vanity mirror and counter space for those of us who want to put makeup on. The gym has a great variety of two treadmills, an elliptical, recumbent bike (my favorite) and other equipment such as hand weights and balls. The pool area was large and had a nice jacuzzi. Plenty of complimentary pool towels by the pool. The breakfast menu read better than the reality. I would have liked to see a few more healthier options (i.e. hard boiled eggs, Greek yogurt ) but it's what will get you by for a few days stay. There is a nearby supermarket (Sprouts) where you can get options to prep food in your hotel suite kitchen if needed. There is also a complimentary happy hour that has some indulgent snacks like chips and salsa (very yum), freshly made potato chips (super yum) with choice of spinach artichoke dip (not good, too cream cheese goopy) or French onion dip (yum). It's these small touches that make a hotel special and make guests feel cared for (teddy bear too). The rooms were quiet and I loved how well the black out curtains worked. The floor carpet to our room (as another reviewer mentioned) could use a deeper cleaning or makeover but nothing bothersome enough to bring my review rating down. It's a hotel so with all the turnover I imagine things like this get soiled quickly. I would highly recommend this place for any personal, business or family stay.

Oatmeal and the usual waffles. Coffee cups are ridiculously small. Other than a basic pool I can't really see a basis for a resort fee.

The amenities are great. The gym is well equipped, there are tennis courts, and the pools are beautiful with a nice balance between adult and family-friendly areas. The restaurants are solid as well, which makes it easy to stay on property and unwind. Overall, a really great experience. We would definitely come back again for our next spring training trip.

I invited four girlfriends to join me, and each of them booked their own rooms. Unfortunately, after spending four days at the property, I can confidently say this was one of the most disappointing luxury hotel experiences I've ever had. The problems started at check-in. The front desk associate barely engaged with me, offered no overview of the property, amenities, or resort experience, and didn't ask whether it was my first visit. When I mentioned I was celebrating my birthday, there wasn't even a simple "Happy Birthday." I was handed a key and what turned out to be a property map, with no explanation whatsoever. My next stop was the concierge desk to inquire about pool cabanas. I was simply told they were sold out. No alternatives were offered, no waitlist was mentioned, and no effort was made to assist. Instead, I was told to look at an outside website myself. At a luxury resort, isn't the concierge's role to help guests find solutions and make arrangements? When I later asked if the resort did anything special for birthday guests, the concierge emailed me a list of items I could purchase. That response perfectly summarized the level of hospitality we experienced. The room itself was another disappointment. It felt outdated and in need of renovation, hardly what one would expect from a luxury property. Ironically, when I later visited the pool and asked an attendant about cabanas, she immediately offered to place me on a waitlist in case of cancellations--an option the concierge never bothered to mention. The following morning, I spoke with a manager, Alley, about my experience. She apologized and offered a $100 food and beverage credit, which I appreciated. However, when I returned to my room, I discovered something far more concerning: one of the pillows had visible mold on it. Since I don't sleep with pillows, I hadn't noticed it the first night. As I looked closer, I found stains on the bedding, pillows, lampshade, and even areas of the room that clearly had not been properly cleaned. Housekeeping came and changed the sheets and pillowcases, but shockingly left behind the actual moldy pillow. At that point, this had moved far beyond a service issue and into a cleanliness and health concern. I reported everything again to management. The additional response was a $50 credit. At this point, the property had failed in virtually every area that defines a luxury hotel: guest service, concierge support, cleanliness, attention to detail, and problem resolution. My friends who booked rooms experienced similar frustrations with both customer service and housekeeping. We ultimately spent much of our time dining at restaurants off property and even rented a cabana at another resort because our experience at The Phoenician was so disappointing. For a stay that cost me over $2,000, offering a total of $150 in credits felt completely out of touch with the severity of the issues. The amount wasn't the problem, it was the lack of accountability and genuine concern. I rarely leave negative reviews, but travelers should know that this property did not deliver anything close to the luxury experience it advertises. Between the poor service, moldy pillow, cleanliness concerns, and overall lack of hospitality, I cannot recommend The Phoenician. I will also be filing a complaint through Marriott Bonvoy regarding my experience. Luxury hotels are defined by service, attention to detail, and how they handle problems when they arise. Unfortunately, The Phoenician failed on all three.
