Ok , I find this funny that in their company history, this company says it has "the mission of putting the customer back into customer service." I received VERY POOR customer service from the Salem store when I went in to buy some memory for my computer. The stick of memory in question was used. I asked what the warranty on it was and the response was "Warranty ?? There is no warranty on used memory, there is no way of testing it." I found that attitude dismissive as well as inaccurate. He offered a much more expensive alternative that was new but, A- I needed memory then and there and B- The new stuff was much more expensive and only was warrantied through the manufacturer, in other words I would have to take up any coverage issues through the manufacturer and not WCC. This guy also made me feel very uncomfortable. I wanted to browse a bit but I was getting the distinct feeling he was wanting me out of the store. I managed a computer shop in Peabody for over 5 years. I ran the front AND the back. I know it can be difficult if you're needing to return to PC on the bench, but if I had a browsing customer I would find other things to do out front while they browsed. As far as his statement of there being no way to test memory, that is total BS. We tested memory by putting a computer through several tasks (defrag, virus scan, running several concurrent apps, etc) and observing for abnormal behavior and I know that Macena Systems had a machine that apparently tested memory for problems. (I don't know exactly how this worked) We also put used (recovered from dead systems) memory into refurbished systems that we sold. Most of the time, if the memory was bad, it would show up when we loaded the operating system, Windows. I will never darken their doorstep again. Had a bad experience with Staples' Easy Tech team, after running a diagnostic, they tried to sell me hardware I didn't need, while ignoring a potentially hazardous malfunction. After following some better advice from a friend I found Witch City Computers. My only regret is not having known about them sooner, it would have saved me $70. Witch City effectively diagnosed the problem, offered a competent solution with a reasonable cost estimate and fixed my computer within hours of dropping it off. I bought a computer here with a life time warranty offered by Witch City Computer two years ago. I had an issue this week of the computer shutting off and not turning back on . You have to have an appointment to drop it off, they have no walk-in service even though the website boasts walk-in service. The tech was not very helpful and did not listen to my problems. When I told him we had the lifetime warranty he said we don't offer them anymore and it's probably software which is not under warranty but our prices are reasonable. After two days( which they said two hours) the tech said the computer had no issue but for a fee he could remove Windows and re install. Which City does not want to honor their warranty and the tech was not very helpful Don't go there!!! read more

I got my laptop repaired from here 2 years ago by Aaron. He was awesome. Then a year later the same issue occurred, Aaron had then left. My laptop took MANY weeks to be fixed. Then when it was FINALLY fixed it was much more then expected. Over 260.00. My laptop now has no lights under the keys and the webcam didnt work.. he did fix the webcam for me no cost. ... and then it BROKE AGAIN not even 2 weeks later. After much of a demand it was finally fixed, (it took over a week to be fixedi missed many class assignments ) and cost me ANOTHER 65.00. I WILL not go here again. What i paid to have the SAME problem be fixed multiple times, i could of purchased a new laptop. read more

If customer service is important to you. If you believe that the companies you do business with should perform the service on the day they say they are going to; call their customers when they say they will, return customers calls, and stand behind their products and services, than Witch City Computer is definitely not a company you want to do business with. My wife's computer had an intermittent problem: occasionally it would fail to start. (In all fairness I realize that intermittent problems are particularly difficult to work with because you can't predict when the problem will occur. You can't replicate the problem on demand.) I decided to bring it to Witch City Computers. The technician took my information, including my cell phone number and told me that he would look at it in the morning and give me a call with what he finds. That call never happened. After waiting several days I called to check on my computer. My call was picked up by an answering machine. I left my name number and description of my computer and asked that my call be returned. That never happened either. After three days I decided to go back to the store to check on my computer. There was a sign in the door "Sorry, we will be closed Thursday. We will reopen during regular business hours on Friday." Only problem is that it was Friday afternoon and the store was not open. That was the beginning of my long frustrating relationship with Witch City Computers in which they promised to perform a service "tomorrow" four times and never did they make good on that offer. Each time (except perhaps the final time) the only time any work was done on my computer was when I was physically present in the shop. The computer was returned to me as repaired, the repair was paid for yet within 48 hours the computer refused to start up. I returned the computer to the store and was told that he would "look at tomorrow" and he would call me. After waiting four days for a call that would never come I returned to the store. The intern who was working the counter told me that my computer was ready, but when I asked him to boot it up, it failed to run. All in all, I took 11 trips to the store (including two days that the store was closed even though it was regular business hours as posted,) before being told that the mother board needed to be replaced. That was after paying for the incorrect diagnosis that it was a software problem, an internal setting that "fixed" the problem, and paying for wiping the hard drive reloading the OS to eliminate viruses that had no apparent symptoms and were undetectable by my antivirus software. When I demanded a refund, the technician yelled at me "When that computer left this store it was fixed. I tested it for hours before I let it go home. I have no way of knowing what you did with it when you got it home!" That was not at all true. I was standing there when he did the original 3 minute fix. He did not test the computer. I was standing there when the OS finished loading and he reloaded my data. He handed the computer to me as soon as it was done loading. Even if he had tested the computer and the problem didn't show up; isn't that what the term intermittent problem means? If you want service, not excuses, find a different computer repair service.
