This place is a toledo staple with the friendliest people. It is cute and has been around forever. The place is very cozy on the inside with a large bakery case. I do wish they had some seating if you wanted to enjoy your pastry or baked good in there, but they do have picnic tables outside which is nice when the sun is shining. They have a lot to offer and it is grab and go. They mainly have cookies and small pastries rather then bread or other stuff like that but still good. I definitely think it is more grab and go and a historical place to see in Toledo. read more

Cute neighborhood bakery that's been around since 1930. Open daily from 6am to 5 pm. A big variety of cookies and cakes. We came late in the day (3:00) and there wasn't much bread left. The bakery was bright and welcoming and the staff was friendly. I got the strawberry chocolate cannoli. It was a chocolate cover cannoli shell with a strawberry cream filling that was more frosting-like. I would have preferred it to be more cannoli cheese like filling. The cookies are a bit pricey at $2-4 each. read more

I've visited a few times - they have good danishes and donuts. Also have a fun case with dips. They never seem to be open when I want to go in - but they do a good, homestyle filled donut and you can tell it's quality. Not the place for a handmade croissant. FYI: better as a grab and go versus sit and hang out. read more

Wixey Bakery has been a neighborhood establishment for a long, long time. There is a reason for the longevity - quality products at fair prices. Their raised glazed donut is one of my faves! You have to arrive early for the best selections as they tend to sell out rather quickly of popular items. No matter what you pick from the donut cases, everything I have purchased has been a flat rate of $1.50 each. Maybe this is another reason Wixey Bakery has remained in business, so long. I drive approx 25 minutes when I get a craving for donuts - it's worth it! read more

Oh how I love this place! This will now be a regular stop every time I go through Toledo. Left with so many loaves of bread: raisin walnut, Asiago, garlic, rye... put them in the freezer to enjoy all month. My very favorite cookie is here too : Strawberry cream! Oh another one of our favorite bakeries we love Wixie's bakery. It's just a joy to go there. My son-in-law was telling me yesterday that he had just gone there and then brought them home. Wixey's is one of Toledo's long time, high quality bakeries and there's only a few of those left. I have my favorites and over the years I've never been disappointed with the donut's and pastries. Friendly and courageous service with all that old time neighborhood fell. read more

If you like sugar, you will absolutely love Wixey Bakery! And if like me, you grew up in the neighborhood, it's amazing you're still alive. Because the opportunity to have donuts from Wixey's in the morning as you walk to school, and some ice cream from Lickity Split, or candy from Christie's across the street, it's enough sugar to kill anyone. This block is a child's dream come true. read more

I've been going to Wixey's since I was a baby, & they've done many special events for me especially my wedding! Today is my 41st birthday & I came in on a whim to grab a chocolate on chocolate cake & they took the time to get a small one ready for me. We sat and enjoyed the best doughnuts in town & when it came time to leave they let us know the cake was for free!! Giving their food five stars and their business practices one. This bakery has been around ever since I moved to Toledo. Love all their bake goods, especially the glazed donuts. My big complaint with their business practice is a four percent surcharge. I gave Wixies a large sheetpan order for a reception I'm in charge of. Costco could have provided the cakes for less, but we really like Wixey and I like to support a local company. They charge a four percent surcharge on credit and debit cards. Visa's terms of service state there has to be clear signage on the door and register and it is mentioned nowhere. They also can't charge more than what the provider is charging them (and I know of no provider that charges four percent) and they can't charge it on a debit card even if being ran for a credit card. I picked up the cake order which was three figures, and paid for it with my debit card so I'd have a receipt for reimbursement. I was shocked when I saw a four percent surcharge added. There was no signage anyplace and I wasn't told there was a four percent surcharge. I would have paid cash or written a check and it should have been disclosed on the phone. When the order was phoned in we asked if they took credit cards and they should have disclosed the fee then. read more

One of Toledo's last great bakeries. Wixey's has been operating since 1930. For fresh bread, doughnuts, or cookies you'll be hard pressed to find better in the area. Old-fashioned in the best way. The only way I imagine you could possibly disappointed is if you are looking for slick over decorated cakes and cookies. Their are no gimmicks here just great ingredients made with care. Their simple non-fussy treats are downright delicious. Be sure to check out their decorated holiday cakes and cupcakes. They will become a family tradition. For the best birthday cake ever order the chocolate cake with chocolate Grenache frosting filled with a layer of vanilla buttercream. Heaven! One of Toledo's best! read more

Wixey has always been a family favorite, however I am sad to say we will not be returning. I purchased a chocolate cake on 1/20/24. When I looked at the cake I thought the decorations looked like something I could do, but hoping the taste would outweigh the decor, I took the cake home for my husband's bday. To my dismay, the cake was dry and flavorless. I called Wixey's on Tuesday, which is the first day they would be open from the weekend. I explained to the person on the other end of the phone about my concern. She told me that she would have someone call me. I was hoping to find out if this was their new recipe or something happened. Unfortunately I have yet to receive a call. read more

Reall, Wixey Bakery is ok, a 3 star rating but I didn't like the service and the prices are outrageous! It is your usual bakery, yes they have a great selection of cakes, cookies, donuts, muffins, pies, but everything that looked good was about $5, I did splurge and get a $5 eclaire but didn't even like it. Dry and bland, only thing going for it was it was huge but what good does that do if its not good? I got cupcakes and cookies, they were pretty good, the cookies above average and the cupcakes very fresh but plain. The sticky and pecan buns kind of old and dry, nothing special. The girls working were so not into it, not helpful, that mixed with the prices, I wouldn't go back to Wixey's. read more

Love love love Wixey!! When I was younger the best part of my birthday was getting a cake from my local bakery in my hometown. When this bakery stopped selling cakes my birthday was slightly dimmed. Fast forward several years and I stumble upon Wixey. Their frosting and vanilla cake remind me so much of my much loved birthdays from my childhood. When i got married in June I only knew that Wixey was going to provide my cake and cupcakes. They were super easy to work with and flexible when I needed to change cupcake numbers a few weeks before the wedding. They also called before my wedding to suggest that dark purple frosting may not be the way to go as it will stain people's teeth which would be photo friendly. Their suggestion was much appreciated. I also was thankful to use their cupcake stand for only a deposit fee that was returned to me upon safe return of the stand. I had leftover cupcakes from the wedding that froze incredibly well that I enjoyed for weeks after my festivities. Run....don't walk to Wixey to try one of their amazing cupcakes. read more

What can be said about Wixey Bakery that hasn't already been said? This place was a staple of my childhood. Despite coming from a family of avid and fantastic bakers, every so often we would indulge in a cake or a treat from Wixey Bakery. So on my most recent trip back to Toledo to see my family for Thanksgiving, and in honor of what would have been my Grandmother's 88th birthday, I couldn't resist stopping in for some cake. I called ahead to make sure they had some cakes available (not something special ordered) and they did. They put aside a simple white on white cake for me and I came by to pick it up. While I was there, I also got a simple sugar cookie with icing to enjoy right away. Their desserts and various bakery items are simple but done to perfection. The cake is moist and although simple, their frosting is addictive. read more

I'm sure most people would like this bakery, but I prefer flavor over sweetness. For me, if it's too sweet it takes away from the goodies. This is a pretty standard American- style bakery. If you like that kind of sweets, you should give it a try. read more

Called in for a birthday cake. (1) Was on hold for 17 minutes. So, my husband proceeds to call in to the bakery (while I was on hold on my phone). Someone answered his call and they proceeded to take the Order from him. After he hung up, I was STILL on hold. After another five minutes, I finally hung up (which is now going on 25 minute on hold). (2) The cake that we requested was "GOLF" theme birthday cake. Requested lots of green and a GOLF them. What we received $50.00 later was an uninspired, lopsided, standard cake with pink flowers. Nothing about the cake we received was GOLF themed at all. There is absolutely ZERO creativity in Wixey's cakes. read more

I ordered a cookie cake for my son's 4th Birthday and the lady I spoke with on the phone was very nice and accommodating - I needed it the next day and it was no problem! They frosted the entire cookie and added beautiful frosting balloons with words in colors that I got to choose. So much more personal than picking one up at the grocery store! The frosting was super sweet (which I love - it is frosting after all...) and the cookie was perfectly soft and chocolate-y. When I went in to pick it up the next day I also bought some chocolate cannoli. They were delicious, but the filling was a little bit on the sweet side and they didn't seem to have any ricotta in them. Maybe we will try regular cannoli next time. Overall, I will definitely go back and would recommend highly!! read more

It started off like any other Tuesday. And then...UPS delivered me the most delicious taste of hometown: 2 dozen Pazcki from Wixey Bakery. (insert moans of deliciousness here.) Ever since I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area over 9 years ago, I have missed these wonderful little Polish pastries that kick off Mardi Gras. I've asked so many locals about where to buy Pazcki and heard over and over,"What?!?" I've called around. I've Googled. I've pined for the pastries. And this year, my amazing brother changed my Fat Tuesday fate, shipping me two dozen assorted Pazcki. And I received them a week later, bubbled wrapped and shrink wrapped, and packed with shipping peanuts. And they were still delicious. So, I ask you: Where else can you get donuts that are still scrumptious after a week? That can travel cross country and still elicit "oohs" and "aahs" and proclamations of unconditional love? I live right across the trail from Wixeys but I do not go to often. I don't like almond extract and it seems they put it in everything. The icing on coffee cake to the the VANILLA custard in a donut. All tastes like maraschino cherry. If you like almond extract you will love Wixeys. I do not. The staff is friendly and they have a variety of baked goods. They are not open on Sundays. I would think Sunday would be a big money day for a bakery but I guess they have been around long enough it must not be hurting them. The location is right next to a school and I suspect by the hords of children In there before and after school that they will never go out of business as long as the school stays open. read more

Wixey's is a MUST stop in Toledo. Cakes, doughnuts, pastries, frosted sugar cookies. All amazing. Some of my favorites are the apple fritters, anything with chocolate frosting (their chocolate frosting is unique and addictive), pecan rolls, and vanilla cake with raspberry filling. They have amazing customer service, and anything you're unhappy with, they will 100% make it right. They have made wedding cakes for my family for generations. Their recipes haven't changed. Wixey's is the first bakery my family knew in the US - my dad remembers getting pastries there when he was 6 yrs old and new to the country from Cuba. Wixey's will customize anything and often can pull together something for you on short notice. Everyone there is very friendly and you'll often run into someone from the area who knows your family. Wixey's is a gem, and the earlier you go the better selection and fresher everything will be! I've never had a negative experience. read more

Highly disappointed with the outcome of this cake. It was very expensive which I don't mind paying a lot for a good product but a child could have designed this cake. We made cupcakes at home which luckily helped offset how bad it looked since they even looked better than the professionally designed cake. When tried to talk to Wixey about our disappointment they were rude and dismissive. Also the cake was dry. Would not recommend for big/ important events. A cake can't make or break your special day but at their prices I would hope it would at least look nice. read more

This place is becoming one of my favorite bakeries. I have yet to find something I haven't liked. My kids love the cookies, which are super sweet, and not hard as well as frosting that isn't as messy. Their cake is moist, prices are reasonable, and i would recommend this place to my friends and family. :) read more

In regard to the donuts, they are some solid donuts and have lots of options from yeast to classic cake ones and specialty ones like fritters. For me the donuts were a bit dry across the board, especially the fritter. I tend to like a more crispy, airy fritter and this was more cake like so if that is your cup of tea then you will definitely like this fritter. There also were no apple pieces in mine which was a bit of a bummer, but good flavor. The other donuts were pretty basic, the frosting is SUPER sweet, too sweet for me and it was a bit overpowering especially for the apple filled. The maple persian was VERY GOOD! It was a cinnamon bun donut with the maple Persian icing, super yummy and I would recommend it as that specific donut was airy and light. the cake donuts were good, a bit dry but good flavor. I wish the sour cream donut was crispier but I just do not think that is their style here so it is whatever you like! Regardless, a cute place for sure and I love supporting local bakeries and shops like this whenever I can.
