Long wait time, tasty food. Earth to Oven, located in Toledo, OH, makes all of their food from scratch using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The delicious artisan bread that the sandwiches are served on comes from Zingermans bakehouse in Ann Arbor, MI. We won't talk about what else is in Ann Arbor. These are no ordinary sandwiches. They're packed with flavor and ingredients I wouldn't have thought to put on a sandwich. For example, house-made pimento cheese spread on the chicken salad sandwich, house-made honey mustard on the thanksgiving sandwich or tomato on the grilled cheese. Tasty! : -The Prescott - chicken salad -Quatre Formage - grilled cheese (havarti, Swiss, Colby, cheddar) -The Honey Bird - everyday is Thanksgiving ---- Follow @ohiofoodlover on Instagram for more Ohio eats #ohiofoodlover ----

    Thanksgiving on a sandwich
    Valerie C.

Delicious food, long wait Sandwiches seem like they should be fast, but not so. If you have the time for a leisurely visit, the food is great and worth the wait. Thanksgiving on a sandwich is yummy. We got our kid the fanciest grilled cheese you've ever seen (hold the tomato for her). I've never had chicken salad and pimento cheese together, but I like them both separately so why not? It was delicious.

This place was a perfect morning escape Small place that was surprisingly quiet and peaceful for a Saturday morning (nice people too!). I really enjoyed the outdoor seating and the coffee was solid.

I don't know how I've lived in Sylvania this long and never been to this gem but it's now my favorite. My daughter and I enjoyed a delicious lunch, betty's salad, McNulty (Turkey BLT) and the four cheese grilled cheese. Absolutely delicious. Sorry I ate part of my sandwich before I took my picture but they offer pick two so you can try some different options. I'll be back...maybe tomorrow

So, the Italian sub is served hot, which isn't always my preference (I think most of their subs are served hot). I like the freshness of the cold cuts served cold. I will say that to their benefit, they don't microwave their sandwiches. They have a steamer they place the meats and cheeses into and then blast them with steam. It is a nice touch, much better than nuking things. Anyway, the bread they used didn't have much "personality" going for it. I love really crusty sub rolls with soft, pillowy insides. This was kind of a softer roll that didn't have any character. Kind of disappointing. The sandwich itself was dressed with mayo (my favorite condiment), but it really needed an acid note to balance the unctuous, fatty quality of the meat, cheese and mayo (hello vinegar...). The veggies just got lost and really didn't add a thing. I did request jalapenos on the sandwich, and unfortunately, they didn't add much (too mild). They do have one of those drink machines that offer what seems to be an endless choice of beverages (love those). There appears to be a cleanliness issue too. I got there around 12:30 and the floors were really dirty. The walls and vents could use some attention, etc. It just had the appearance of not being well kept. In summation, the place wasn't bad, but I can't say I'd go back anytime soon.

I realized however that I didn't realize the challenges that elderly/disabled people face when dining out. I had taken my mom to her cardiologist and he suggested that I take my mom out for a late lunch- which I enthusiastically embraced. Upon arriving at My Way Bistro, we were able to park in a handicapped parking spot with a slope to the sidewalk, which was helpful to my mom, who relies upon a walker for mobility. Upon arriving inside the restaurant, we were given our choice of booths or tables. I never realized before that the tables and booths are very high for someone with limited ability to lift their arms. There were no other options that we saw and my mom did her best to settle into a booth that I found comfortable but the table was clearly too high for my mom. She was a great sport however and made do with the high tabled booth. My mom ordered a lamb gyro with fries and I ordered my usual Georgia Reuben with fries. My mom was very pleased with her gyro. It had lots of vegetables and meat, and she said the tszazicki (sp?) sauce was delicious. She also enjoyed the fries. I loved my Georgia Reuben because the cole slaw has a kick of black pepper and other ingredients that make it taste amazing. The homemade Thousand Island dressing was soooo delicious! I was a little disappointed in the fries because they were fried more than I prefer but were still good. Best of all, we both took home leftovers! Seriously, the plates couldn't adequately support the generous portions of food with heaping amounts of fries- and I say that as a good thing! The ambiance is that of an upscale sports bar, but was pretty quiet when we were there, even though screens were turned on. Our server was very responsive and efficient. Overall a great experience and I definitely recommend checking out My Way Bistro for amazing sandwiches (also offer salads that I haven't yet tried) that are levels up from typical bar food.

Found a parking spot not too far from the entry as the wind chill was in the single digits. MyWay was crowded, but we were seated right away. Needless to say, the noise volume was elevated. There was a large group of people on our side of the restaurant that seemed to know one another. They were rather boisterous and seemed to have consumed a fair amount of alcohol. Even witnessed a middle aged woman who could hardly walk out on her own. Prior to her bumper-pool walking style on the way out, as she was seated, she hoisted up her leg and placed her heel on the man's shoulder she was with. Mercy! Alcohol can cause strange events to happen. We both ordered the Blackened Salmon Quinoa Salad with the Walnut Raspberry Vinaigrette dressing. Salad cost $18. To me, the salmon portion was a bit smaller than anticipated, but had a good blacked spiced mix and done very nicely.

Item 2: Regardless of what you call it, I love this place, and have since the 1970s. This place is a little neighborhood hole-in-the-wall, and I don't think the decor has changed since the 1970s (literally). Who says that's a bad thing? GYROs: Bottom line is that this is some of the BEST tasting gyro meat I've ever eaten. Period. It's flavored to perfection, and cooked to juicy yet crisp perfection, also. I have no idea what spices they add to the lamb/beef mixture (nutmeg? cumin? cinnamon?) but it has a unique and delicious flavor. This is the first place where, as a little kid, I ever ate a gyro, and they still make one of the best. (Not that my ethnic background matters, but I am Greek, and I've eaten a lot of gyros in a lot of cities and countries). If this is not the best, it's damned close to it. The chicken kabobs are excellent too. When I feel like eating something with more protein and less fat, this is my go to. These are fantastically seasoned and grilled perfectly every time. They come with rice or fries, and some veggies. The Greek salads are next level. They are large, well presented, well put together, and come with a BIG ASS SLAB of feta cheese. The homemade Greek dressing is not the best I have ever had, but it is more than serviceable. Pizza? Oh yeah, the pizza.... J & G,s thin crust pizza is also excellent. The flavor of the sauce is more traditional than what you will find at Amie's or Gino's, and therefore, may appeal to a wider range of tastes. I'd stick with the more basic toppings. To drink, they have milk and pop for the kids, and beer and wine for the adults. In case you haven't guessed, their wine list includes retsina and mavrodaphne. Obviously, as the place is also Upside Brewing, they have a pretty nice selection of beer. Upside has a few taps, and multiple taps from other local and regional brew houses are available. They do get busy, but we've never had unacceptably slow or rude service.
