Our 1986 cooktop and downdraft were starting to poop out, so we bought a slick combo unit from Home Depot. But before making the purchase, I checked out Yelp and called Alex at Wizard. We paid him $80 to come over and check all the product specs to make sure this slightly larger all in one unit would fit. He gave us the thumbs up, we ordered and scheduled him to install. He had to cut the tiles as expected, replaced the gas line, installed a new valve and cut the cabinet, etc. He credited us 1/2 of the first visit towards the installation. I found Alex to be completely unprofessional and inept as a dishwasher installer. He also did nothing but complain from the minute he arrived and started adding to his price. He told me to read the use instructions as he didn't know the machine that well and could only show how to turn on and off. He also left me in a mess (See Pics). I contacted Alex and he came over the next day to go over my project and give me an estimate. I wanted to replace our cook top and built in oven. The hurdle I had was that my kitchen cabinetry was old and the equipment currently installed was of standard sizes that are no longer available. The new cook tops and built in ovens are now manufactured with bigger standard sizes. Alex told me we can install the new, larger appliances but we would need to modify the existing cabinetry and granite counter top. Alex was very generous with his time. I called Alex with technical questions and for advice, as my wife and I shopped for our replacement cook top and built in oven, on at least 3 different occasions and even once on a weekend. And texted him a few times as well. He answered my calls and texts each time. When our appliances arrived at our home, I let Alex know and he came out 2 days later to do our project. Alex had to cut out the cabinetry openings, had to lower the floor on the cabinet that housed the oven. He relocated the gas line, he relocated the electrical junction box for the oven, and he cut the granite countertop opening bigger for the cooktop to fit. All of this was professionally done and came out beautiful. It looks like this new equipment was always there. Alex was very careful to not damage anything and cleaned up very well after himself. He was polite, professional, and thorough. He explained very carefully what he was going to do, and when he was done he showed me everything that he did. I needed a range/oven and range hood installation. However, the range hood chimney cover needed to be cut, because my ceiling is too low to accommodate it. Alex quoted me a discounted price for both installations. He said he could cut the chimney cover, but recommended it to be done by someone with special stainless steel cutting tool, which he did not have. I had a broken above-range microwave I needed to replace. I bought a used one that didn't have the mounting bracket. To make matters worse, my cabinet is a little tight and the microwave didn't fit. Alex did a great job. He found a bracket in the shop and even drilled into the tile back splash since the new microwave went down further than the old one. He was able to stop by the week before to give me an estimate for uninstalling a refrigerator, dishwasher, and trash compactor, very flexible as we went back and forth about uninstalling the refrigerator, and then once I wanted to set up a time for the uninstall, he was able to fit us in within a few days. On the day of, he arrived on time, was able to uninstall all of the appliances as requested, and did a great job of actually getting the appliances out of the house (narrow doorways). Upon installing it, Alex told me the valve broke and I should call a plumber (at my cost) , and he needed 8 towels to clean up all the water everywhere, and then said he had to turn off all the water in the house, which he did. Everything went well until he drilled an unnecessary 2-3 inch hole under my kitchen sink cabinet on the wrong wall (facing my backyard), then had to still drill the second correct hole for the dishwasher plumbing.
