Adam and the Wizard Transmission team are, well, wizards. After traveling up to CO from TX, and picking up a 15k 5th wheel for a 3.5-week adventure, the transmission in my 2012 F-250 6.7 started overheating (270*) just an hour in. We retreated back down I-70, stayed in Denver, and made frantic calls the next morning. Adam was extremely accommodating and asked me to come in right away. Upon arrival, he instantly knew the transmission model # without even checking the VIN. We spoke about the modifications I had (37s, tune, not re-geared) and I took an Uber back to my hotel. He called that afternoon to say that it might be a couple things but wanted to crack the pan to see if I did any damage by overheating (mind you, it went to 270* for less than a minute before shutting it down). Later that day, he reported it was clean (no metal shavings), but the fluid was a bit stinky. They replaced the fluid and filter and it should be ready in the morning, but to wait for his call. This sounded right but we were both still a little suspect that somewhat used fluid would cause it to overheat. I heard from him the next morning. He said he had a thought on the way home the night before, so he did some digging. He realized the transmission had a separate cooling system. It's the first thing he checked upon return the next day. It's situated as part of the standard cooling system, but has separate reservoirs. Low and behold, it was empty. The shop who did my transmission service in Texas drained the radiator AND the tranny coolant systems. They only refilled the radiator system. Adam said it took a full 2.5-gallons in the tranny cooler. His tech took it for some hard runs on the highway and couldn't get it much over 200* (normal). I was thrilled. All in, 36 hours of delay. He moved many vehicles out of the way for me. He was sympathetic to the fact that I was taking my wife, dog, and 2 young kids on a massive adventure. Throughout our journey, I couldn't get the transmission over 207* (5+ minute mountain pass pulls with 15k pounds on the back). To top it off, 1 week later, I get a call on Saturday night. It's Adam. He's returned from his trip and came across my invoice. He remembered my son's socks and daughter's toys in the backseat and wanted to make sure my trip was going great (it was). This personal touch is exceptionally touching and typically lost in this day in age of quick transactions. I am incredibly grateful for Adam and the Wizard Transmission Team. I have a 92 jeep cherokee with over 200,000 mile I took it in because of a hard shift at 45mph thought it was from my old transmission. Wizard's said my transmission was fine and the problem was not the transmission. It had an engine code for input speed sensor at high speed not calibrating causing my engine to stall. Pulled sensor cleaned it off and reinstalled no more problem. What I appreciate the most was there honesty, being that 200,000 miles they didn't bait me into a service I didn't need like a rebuild or a new transmission. I spoke with Adam on the phone about bringing my 2015 Nissan Juke in for a transmission diagnostic and fluid/filter change. He gave me a price, we joked about the pitfalls of CVT transmissions and he even told me what day and time to show up. Monday morning at 7am. I showed up promptly on time, not in a rush. I sat around for 30 minutes waiting on him to come talk to me. No big deal. As soon as we had a 1 minute conversation while I was there, his demeanor changed from his personable phone persona to being rude and shortly exclaimed "didn't I tell you on the phone that I don't work on CVTs?" Then proceeded to say he'd "get it looked at" and walked out the door. I sat there for another 20 minutes waiting for him to come back so we could finish the conversation and I could give him the keys. I was confused. He knew what I drove. Told me when to come in. Had given me an estimate on a fluid and filter change over the phone and now he doesn't work on CVTs? I don't know if it's because I'm a woman? A heavily tattooed and pierced woman? He was having a bad day? Either way you slice it, I felt mistreated and miseld. I wasted time going down to his shop just to be treated like garbage. I would never refer anyone to this shop. Now I'm short on sleep and headed to work in my car that still needs service. read more

Adam at Wizard transmission is just a super guy! He primarily cares about customer satisfaction. His idea is to get transmissions working and staying strong for his customers. I think that is why he offers free transmission fluid refills at one-year intervals for the first three years, along with a three-year warranty on his transmission services. Where else can you find that? Unfortunately, I had a problem with the gasket on my transmission rebuild. Adam ordered a complete new set up for my transmission and installed it. No questions asked. Wow. I got lucky. I took my car to my trusted shop after my transmission decided to take a big fart on me. Nothing like having to drive to Denver from Keystone with only two gears... Talk about pucker factor. Anyhow, my shop gave a decent quote but they didn't do transmissions themselves and becuase of that, thought I'd shop around. Adam at Wizard transmission gave me a ballpark on the phone that was a great rate. I didn't find much on the web with them but they have an A with the BBB so I crossed my fingers and prayed. First - they were very polite. They offer a 3yr/36,000 mile warrenty on their work that is included in their quote (remember the low one right?). OK, now I figured I was in a pretty good spot. I took it in, they ripped it apart a bit and called with a final quote. It was a couple of hundred bucks higher than the first but he offered a range and said he'd try to come in low but that the price wouldn't exceed the max. Thats good too I'm a thinkin'. So here is where the rubber met the road. They fixed it. I picked it up and on the way home, it wasn't working rioght. I turned around and dropped it off again. They ripped it apart TWICE, replaced multiple parts, spend tons of labor until they got it fixed and then DROPPED IT OFF AT MY HOUSE without me asking to save me the drive since I went to pick up a broken car - I didn't even ask. And the real gold? They didn't even try to charge me more. They were increadibly apologetic it took so long and that it didn't work the first time. Im sure this could have cost me another $1,000. I don't know what else to say - I'm blown away by how it played out. Best single difficult business I've experienced in quite some time. The only thing I would say is that he wasn't terribly proactive about status calls but I can live with that given all else. Thank you guys!!! read more

When the clutch on my Subaru slipped, I panicked, because I know nothing about cars, and knew if I closed my eyes and picked a place to take it, I would probably get ripped off big time. GAH. Luckily, a friend of mine who builds cars recommended Wizard Transmissions, and guaranteed that I would not be ripped off. I was not disappointed! Adam, the owner, is easily the most honest and reliable mechanic I have ever taken my car too. He split the cost of the tow with me (!!!!!!!), he gave me a very fair rate on the clutch, and even rushed the repair when I told him I needed it by the weekend. Before I knew it, I had a brand new clutch, and it was perfect. The warranty covers the clutch for two years, and Adam offered to do a free check up on it after a few hundred miles. They even dropped me off at my house after I left my car with them, and offered to pick me up to get it when it was ready. Amazing. Not two months into owning my used Passat did the check engine light come on and a failure occur with the torque converter. As a short search on Google showed this was a common issue and known to be a pricey repair. I wasn't about to put the money into this and leave it to an amateur. This led me to an online search and Wizard Transmission. I wasn't sure who I could trust to not inflate the cost of the work needed while making a quality, honest repair. The reviews on here didn't lie, this place (Adam) is a class act. From the initial call I had with him, to the ride home Wayne gave me after dropping it off, and finally the day I picked up my car, he displayed a level of professionalism and knowledge I was thrilled to find. The service at Wizard Transmission is great! So great that I wanted to add a review on Yelp as well as Google +. I copied and pasted due to laziness but don't worry I am a real customer! I just moved to Denver and had no idea where to go when a diagnostic test showed that my transmission needed to be checked. After reading reviews I chose Wizard Transmissions and am so glad I did. Not only did they ferry me from the shop to my place and back again but they checked out my car a few days later when I heard a bump, just for good measure. The problem ended up being minor but I have found my go-to for transmissions from now on. Everyone at Wizard is extremely friendly and helpful and most importantly trustworthy/honest. Took my 2003 Toyota Corolla S (5 Speed) to Adam to get it looked at. It was on its original clutch (156800k miles). The transmission was making a noise while pressing on the gas, but the noise would go away when I pressed in the clutch or released my foot off the gas. Adam put it on the lift and you could hear the transmission making a noise probably 25 feet away. Adam stated it needed a bearing. His quote was less then everyone else and his warranty was by far superior to other shops and dealers. I Have always lived by the rule, "DON'T GO WITH THE HIGHEST OR LOWEST PRICE, GO WITH WHO YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH" I took my car to Adam and he fixed it quickly. Great local family shop. Honest, fast and upfront. When the transmission in my Jetta went out the dealership said $5,500 + and smaller shops don't have the right equipment to look at VWs. Wizard had it apart and fixed in two days, for $1200. Kept me informed throughout the process and even helped me get my car home. Adam rebuilt the the transmission in my '96 Jeep Cherokee a few months back. There were some problems with the repair but Adam stuck to his guarantee and stood behind his work. He could have very easily gotten frustrated with our vehicle and us, but he was always courteous and legitimately wanted to take care of us, both on a personal and professional level. He went above and beyond, which included a rental car and a trip to Grand Junction to retrieve our vehicle. I would HIGHLY recommend him and his transmission service. I just can't express how great this company is! Adam was fantastic and his techs are the best in the business. My 2009 GMC sierra z71 was having transmission issues so I called around to quite a few shops and even took it to the dealer to figure out the problem. The dealer charged me $100 diagnosis fee and told me it's most likely the turbine speed sensor but they never hooked up any equipment to test it so who knows. I called Adam a few times to talk about the issues I was having and he offered to double check it for free. He was able to get my truck in fast and look at it which is great because it's my only vehicle and when it goes down so does my business. Adam called later that day just like he said he would and told me that it was in fact the turbine speed sensor but also that there was alot if clutch material in the fluid (I pull a big trailer 70% of the time). We talked about what I use the truck for and he recommended a rebuild to suit my application. I told Adam let's go ahead and build a transmission that will last longer than the truck and he told me it would take 4 days well on day three Adam called me to tell me my truck was done and he was sending his driver to come get me ( I live 30 miles away) when I got in my truck I could notice the difference in how firm it shifted and just a general improvement in the feel of the transmission. I am beyond pleased with the work they did and will take every vehicle I ever own back to him. The customer service was beyond exceptional the quality was of the highest standard and the price was great for what I got. I never leave reviews for anything ever but I felt compelled to leave this review because of the great job they did. If you need transmission work done take it to Adam you won't be sorry. Wizard Transmission is GREAT. They worked on my 1980 Ford pickup repairing the shifter. The parts they were able to get were hard to find and some parts they had to rebuild. I can't stress enough to shop around! They will gouge you on prices. Not only is this the case but they would not honor their warranty after there was major malfunction related to the work they did. The warranty on my receipt did not match the 3 year 36k warranty they told me prior to completing the work, had to repeatedly call to get that corrected, too bad they still would not honor it when their work failed! Claimed "it was not associated with transmission rebuild they did". It would be one thing if the prices were related to the results but unfortunately that is not the case. read more

Woo Hoo is right! I am in the midst of restoring a 1980 Porsche 924, and while pulling her out of the garage last week, the shifter went all "floppy" and I realized that I was stuck in first gear. After having already spent quite a bit of cash under the hood, I dreaded how much more some transmission work would cost. After some diligent research on Yelp, I found Wizard Transmission - and I am so very glad I did. I had AAA tow my car over (no charge - I have a membership) and by the next day, I received a call that the car was being repaired. Ok, at this point, panic set in as I had not heard a quote...When I asked Adam how much it would be, he said it was only the linkage (which had fallen off) and the repair would be around $85! After I awoke from passing out (joke) - I asked him how that could possibly be??? $85? I anticipated way, way more. He laughed and explained that they are fair and honest. Guess what...the final cost was actually a bit less! Holy smokes! Fair, honest and great work too. I picked her up and my Porsche drives like a champ. I have a '98 Honda Civic that has been making a lot of noise for a while. I had bought the car like that and thought it was completely normal until one day the car made whirring noises in every gear and was getting more and more difficult to shift into gears. (5 speed manual transmission). I took my car to Adam for the free diagnostics and he said that I'll need to rebuild the transmission with new bearings, synchros, seals, etc. I decided to take my car back about a month later until the noise was unbearable and he had me all fixed up in two days. I dropped it off on Tuesday and was ready by Thursday morning! I paid MUCH less than what the dealer wanted. I also provided a new clutch kit and flywheel and asked him to change my rear main seal while the transmission is out. No problem at all! And he replaced them at no charge! I just had to pay for the parts! How much better can this get? The car is all back together now and it drives like an absolute dream. The warranty is awesome and I will be back every year for the free transmission service. It may be an old car, but it's MY old car. read more

Adam is awesome. Seeing as a transmission rebuild is a pretty big investment, I called around and talked to several shops to make sure that I was getting not only a good price, but also the best quality of rebuild that I could. Adam talked me through my options and made recommendations based on my driving habits, his level of knowledge and enthusiasm regarding transmissions was incredible, and (even though I would have used him at any cost at this point) his price was very competitive. Each year when I bring my truck in for it's (free!) transmission checkup Adam looks over everything, has made small repairs when needed, and lets me know if there's anything I should keep an eye on. I send all my friends to Adam to diagnose or fix their transmission issues, and they have all had excellent experiences as well.
