We visited Wizard's World of Pinball while in town for the holiday, taking a break from family activities to check out this space. My partner loves pinball and we've previously visited the huge Pinball Hall of Fame in Vegas. Wizard's World is not as large as the Vegas location and somehow ended up in a small Huntertown strip mall, but still has a very impressive amount of pinball machines from different eras. I especially liked seeing the colorful artwork/design from the classic 60s and 70s machines. The amount per play differed per machine, typically $0.50 for older machines and up to a dollar ($1) for more modern versions. It's humorous to see the different tv/music/etc. that inspired pinball machine designs back in the day (i.e. a Ted Nugent machine? Okay). Wizard's World looks to host local and national pinball tourneys, and is welcoming to lady pinballers. There are clean restrooms and a few packaged drinks/snacks available if you need a refreshment break. We were able to bring in our outside drinks without issue, and most machines are outfitted with drink holders. Even if someone was not a pinball fanatic, I think they'd enjoy visiting Wizard's World and taking in the sights and sounds; it's a unique experience that it isn't easy to find locally, especially when considering that Wizard's World has one of the largest number of machines in the US. My only recommendation would be to implement a flat entry fee option that allows unlimited play for a set amount of time, an option we've enjoyed at other pinball halls/museums. I'm not the best pinball player and my quarters quickly disappeared.

Combat Ops is amazing! I wish it was closer to Indianapolis, so we could visit more often. Alas, it…read morewill have to be our special place that we go to when we're up in Fort Wayne. My two young children had a blast. We probably could have stayed here for hours, but we only dropped by for an hour and a half. But we packed a lot in during that time. Combat Ops has a huge laser tag arena, an area to have Nerf battles, a laser maze, miniature golf, miniature bowling, outdoor axe throwing, an arcade, and an eatery area with local beer. It's basically the perfect place to bring your kids and relax while they play (or join in the fun -- whatever you want to do). I would say that most of the games and entertainment is geared toward older kids and teens (and adults). For instance, my younger child wasn't able to do the laser tag because the guns were a bit heavy for his little arms. But that was pretty much the only thing, other than axe throwing, that he couldn't do. Younger kids would love the miniature bowling, because the balls are small and can fit in a little hand. The miniature golf was also a favorite because what little kid doesn't like putt-putt golf?! My personal favorite was the Nerf arena. We booked a half hour, and they make you watch a safety video, then tell you the rules, and then have you put on safety glasses and let you pick out a Nerf weapon. There is always someone walking around to make sure everyone is playing safely. As a mom who worries about everything, I appreciated all of the extra steps Combat Ops takes to make sure everyone is safe! They aren't obtrusive about it -- just insistent, which I like. The person monitoring our session suggested some games that we could play, which made the experience even more fun. We had a great time playing capture the flag and freeze tag with our Nerf guns. Another favorite of ours was the laser maze. You step into a foggy room, and try to get from one side to the other without tripping the lasers. I think we did the laser maze at least six times! It was a lot of fun. My kids didn't want to leave this place when it was time to go, and they're already talking about how they want to come back for their birthday. Combat Ops really is a super fun place for families, and my family can't wait to go back.

By Christina Rigel:…read more "On Saturday October 20th Robert Ratliff, Sarah Ann Ratliff, Michael Leitzke and I drove an hour and a half to go to Fast Track GoKarts in Fort Wayne. We were hoping to enjoy a fun evening of indoor go karting at a place we'd never been. When we arrived we took some time to look over the price menu, decide what package we wanted and bought Groupons. While Robert was in the bathroom and Michael was sitting at a table near by, Sarah and I approached the counter to sign up and fill out whatever waivers were necessary. I showed my phone to the lady behind the counter, Stephanie, and explained we had bought Groupons and wanted to sign up and pay with them. She immediately FREAKED out. No, I'm not exaggerating... the video is proof in itself. She claimed we owed her money and we had already rode the go karts. She also said WE need to pay for a guy who was on the track at the time who hadn't paid. We repeatedly tried explaining that we were not with the other people, it was just us 4 and that we had not rode any go karts yet. She would not listen. I tried to speak to other workers. They refused to listen. She threw everything that was on the counter at us, called us horrible names repeatedly and even tried to rip Michael's wallet out of his hand! All of this was captured on their surveillance cameras by the way Time passed and the cops never showed up. I ended up calling. We spoke with the officer, told him what was going on and he then spoke with Stephanie and watched the video footage. Meantime the owner also showed up. Turns out Stephanie never called the cops and according to the officer she couldn't keep her story straight (as you can hear in the videos). Although the owner was hesitant, he did apologize. He was very confused by everything going on. I don't blame him. We are all still confused! He offered us a chance to stay and have a good time. We decided not to stay and left peacefully. I am not posting this to bash this business. I am posting this because Stephanie was harassing my friends and I and, honestly, she should feel ashamed!!" The video is on Facebook under Christina Rigel. It sounds like Stephanie is on drugs. She's out of control. And a MANAGER.
