Great service. Showed up on time and did the work they said they would do in one day. Prices were fair.

In 2020, I contacted UGI about installing gas service. I had previously reached out to them and…read morethe cost would have been $800. This time, the line was free as long as gas appliances were hooked up within a certain time frame. We had two huge oil tanks in the basement and the oil furnace was large; all of these were removed. The estimator was fabulous and described how all the work would be done and how long it would take. The installation went pretty well but for some reason, the crew put the meter directly in front of the our driveway water spigot. The estimator came back the day of the installation and seemed as perplexed as me so he got a pipe wrench and removed the meter and reversed its position to effectively move it about a foot. The fellas who came to the house to remove the old furnace and replace it were incredible. It happened to be one of the hottest days of the year and I was working from home and didn't like the idea of being without air conditioning while they replaced the furnace. No worries: from the time they began work, at 8am, until the new furnace was installed and the air conditioning was working, was less than two hours. I was hugely impressed that those gigantic oil tanks were removed up the interior steps and out the kitchen door. They were even larger in appearance in the driveway than they looked in the basement and I am grateful to have them gone. Anyway, things went well. The estimator came back to check on the progress throughout the day of installation and came back afterward to make a small adjustment at my request. Oddly, the condensate pump on the furnace stopped working while we were away on vacation so we came home to a sweltering house. I called UGI and within an hour, a technician came, diagnosed the problem, and replaced the pump. Switching from oil to a high-efficiency, multi-speed gas furnace has been the most-sound investment in the house. The new furnace works reliably, quietly, efficiently, and provides more comfort than the older one -- which was still in great condition -- I just wanted to switch.

A big shout out and thank you to UGI. Robert the initial tech, Andrew, Denis, Trevor, Brian and…read moreRobert the manager all worked together as a team. Thank you for taking care of business and getting our problem resolved...... thank you for not trying to sell us more than we needed.....thank you for being consistent in your communication... This company may well be reputable the majority of the time. Based on the preponderance of good…read morereviews I have to assume that this is the case. BUT they were highly DISREPUTABLE towards us. I'd give zero stars if I could. Emergency Hot water leak. They came out on a Sunday and replaced the cold water valve. Everything was fine until they gave me a quote for replacement. It was more than double the national average. When I asked for a itemized breakdown they said they couldn't provide that because of their "Task based Pricing System". I called BS. They have the numbers, they just are not willing to share them. But, because I was under duress I agreed to the price. I slept fitfully that night. Next day, I did some research and reconsidered. I called them back giving them a chance to adjust the price but they would not...nor would they divulge unit cost or labor rate. I calmly explained that they OBVIOUSLY HAVE those numbers otherwise how could they arrive at the "task based" final number to charge? Wouldn't budge. I subsequently got a quote from a local "Mom and Pop" plumber that was less than HALF! Within 4 hours of the call I had a new unit installed the old one hauled away and I saved myself $1400. It would have been even more savings, had "Handy-in-my-pocket" not GOUGED me for the little bit of work they actually did on Sunday. $275 (emergency call, understandable and agreed to) $375 (cold water valve change, 30 min tops OUTRAGEAOUS) $75 (cancellation fee, Really? Charging me because I caught you trying to take advantage? Un flipping Real. TL/DR Task Based Pricing is utter BS. It benefits THEM not YOU. Reputable companies show you their work. If they are not willing to so, they are HIDING something. It is the polar OPPOSITE of transparency. An analogy: Say you went into a restaurant you had never tried before expecting them to hand you a menu. They don't have a menu, they have "meal based pricing". Its $100 to eat here. You reasonably say to the server, "that seems really high, how much is the appetizer, the entree and the dessert and what exactly am I getting?" The response, "I can't tell you that". It seems like way too much, but you are really hungry so you agree. Your meal is fine, but you estimate that it really should have cost $50 or less. Would you ever go back? I hope these shysters enjoy the (at least) $200 they overcharged me for the work. It will be the last $$ they ever see from my family, friends, coworkers, neighbors and anyone else who will listen to me. I've read their smug answers to other complaints....don't buy it. This is a simple equation..... They tried to take advantage of my family by charging us $3000 for a $1400 job. This was even after I opted into their Handy Happy Advantage Partner Plan. (I have already backed that cost out of the above number, the real bill was to be closer to $3500) . When I Called BS, they confirmed their proclivity for GOUGING by over charging for the small job they actually did AND hitting me with a cancelation fee for backing out of a terrible, terrible deal. Shame on them for making a bad situation worse...a lot worse.
