Rushing to complete a move that included needing to get rid of some items that had piled up (old…read moreelectronic accessories, old iPhone, a laptop, and a PS4), a quick Google search of local recycling e-waste brought me to Friendly Earth International. Their certificate of destruction and their residential pickup services really sold it for me. I filled their online form late Saturday night, and wasn't expecting a reply until Monday (they're closed on the weekends) but to my shock one of their reps replied on Sunday and confirmed adding me to their route for a Monday pickup. They're not able to reserve a particular time slot/frame, you can request an ideal range but know if they can't arrive you'll need to go in person or reschedule to another day. If you do need to reschedule the pickup for a day with more flex, be sure to notify them right away so they can update the driver. For me, the flat fee was $75 but this could range for others (depending on items being picked up, distance, etc.). Payment was through an online portal, with a link sent in the scheduling email. I had originally requested pickup before 12pm, as timing would have it, I was delayed and was still at my apartment when the driver did arrive about 2 hours later. Everything worked out, the driver was very nice and was able to take my items (no paperwork to fill or was provided).

There are several transfer stations in the area and Renton seemed like the right one for me. When you go to the station there are two places to go: head into the right fenced area for recyclable items. This service is free of change and self-serve; the bins are clearly labeled. If you are recycling textiles, I highly recommend either bringing another person or a stick - the hatch doors lift up to open and it's super annoying! Continue straight and stop at the building for garbage. This is fee for service, and I paid ~$30 for a sedan loaded with all the things. Drive up to the giant hole in the ground, chuck your stuff in, feel lighter that you're living space now has less stuff in it. Great help for cutting down the stuff I need to move! The only person I spoke with was at the window and he was friendly and efficient. This is really more of a self-serve thing so you can do things at your leisure.

I was really impressed with how clean and well organized the recycling area was. The staff were super friendly and helpful, they answered all my questions and made the process really smooth. Unfortunately, all the cardboard bins were full during my visit, so I was directed to the garbage area instead to use the cardboard recycling bin there. Just a heads up: It's VERY stinky in there, and I wasn't prepared for that part. I was wearing long pants, and they did get a bit wet from whatever was on the floor. It does look like the staff regularly cleans the floor area, which is probably why the floor was wet but still, not the most pleasant surprise! That's the only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. Otherwise, great experience and helpful service!

Well, now I will put a finger down as the kids say because wow, what a dump! In the best way possible. I don't even know where to begin. The simple and easy process of getting in and out, the very clean and cared for facilities, the passionate and friendly staff, the visitors center where children can learn more about trash. I cannot say enough about Skyway Self Storage, and their level of kindness and professionalism…read more Bobby, the on-site manager, is extremely caring and makes sure to see to it that favoritism is not an issue with any occupants; but rather to enforce a secure and inexpensive storage facility, that is well-maintained. If I had a choice of Skyway or commercial outfits, such as Public Storage, Skyway is indeed well-worth the drive; not to mention, locally-owned. Should I ever need further storage in future, they will be at the top of my list.

Bobby the owner was welcoming, attentive, and held boundaries for the space well. My unit was located near a door I could load in from so that was awesome. Overall my items were safe, kept dry and scent free. No security issues which is important for me. The location of this storage facility is unique as it's located on a hill near a bus stop, so loading from a wheeled cart into your car can be a challenge if you park in the hill spots. The movers had no problems though with their hand trucks, so it's not a huge deal but worth mentioning. There are a few level spots you can park in to avoid this. I would definitely store here again knowing that all is safe and and secure here and Bobby really made it a pleasant friendly experience!
