I'm extremelly frustrated with the service from WM, literally I'm the only customer in my block that is not getting his recycled and garden trash collected...and this has happened way too many time that I'm getting to the point that I want to cancel de service and find another way to disposse to the trash myself. Its completelly unfair to waste my time bagging on paper bags that are not free all my garden trash just to see again and again how they dont take it!! No one on my block has that problem but me...and I would love to know why??? They dont even leave a note to explain why they dont take my trash. This is the worst experience of my life dealing with a company like this. The web page is useless if your trying to make a complaint...its impossible to speak with a person. Tried to call the Louisville Waste Management phone line since I couldn't find what I needed on the website. Was never able to talk to a person. The automated AI voice pings you around and then asks you to wait for person - waited 15 minutes. Also tried the chat feature. The first time the chat asked me four times in a row for my first and last name...which I provided each time. Finally I disconnected and tried again. I was finally able to communicate with a human through chat but it would literally take a couple of minutes to respond to each chat prompt - incredibly slow and inefficient. Then the person had me wait 5 minutes while he scheduled a pick up. Horrible customer service. read more

Waste Management is, without question, the worst service company I have ever dealt with. Missed service is not occasional -- it is expected. Trash routinely isn't collected on the scheduled day. Recycling is missed so often that most people in our neighborhood don't even know which week it's supposed to come anymore. This has been going on for years. This week was my breaking point. My recycling bin was not picked up. WM claimed it was "blocked." That was false. The bin was placed between my driveway and mailbox. My son's truck was in the driveway. I have photos and video showing: The bin was visible and accessible My neighbor's bin right next to mine was picked up My bin was never emptied I sent WM that evidence. The first person I spoke with admitted the bin was not blocked and said someone would be sent out. When I asked how I could verify that was actually happening, it became clear she had no intention of doing anything. She tried to push me off the call and told me to wait until the next recycling pickup -- two weeks away, while my bin was already full and trash was blowing out of it. When I pressed her, she suddenly said dispatch would need to create a ticket and asked if I "wanted her to do that," as if this was optional. Obviously yes. I was given a ticket number. Nothing happened. I spoke with two more representatives the same day. One told me that if a bin is truly missed, WM sends someone out -- but then said my issue had already been "resolved," so no further action would be taken. It had not been resolved. The bin was still full. Then WM changed their story again and claimed they had video of my bin being emptied. That is flat-out false. I told them I could send video from my own home showing it was never picked up. They refused to listen and argued with me as if I was trying to get a free second pickup after service had already occurred -- which it had not. Eventually, I was told a driver would come. I received two confirmation emails stating the bin would be picked up by end of day Tuesday. Tuesday came and went. No pickup. No call. No email. No explanation. When I logged into my account, I discovered the pickup had been voided. On Wednesday, I spoke with a supervisor. The excuses continued: First she claimed the driver thought my recycling bin was trash because it didn't have a green lid -- despite it being the same recycling bin WM issued me over three years ago, with a recycling sticker on it, and never having been an issue before. Then she said the bin was too close to the mailbox or vehicle. I measured it while on the phone -- it was over three feet from the mailbox and over four feet from the truck, meeting WM's own requirements. When those excuses fell apart, she told me I would need to pay $105 to have the bin picked up due to "driver discretion." So to be clear: WM missed the pickup, gave multiple contradictory explanations, ignored my evidence, voided a confirmed service request, and then tried to charge me for their own failure. The most infuriating part is that we are trapped. Other trash companies have told us they will not service our subdivision because of the HOA's contract with WM. WM knows this and treats customers accordingly -- with zero accountability, zero urgency, and zero concern. The only reason this company functioned at all was our former driver Gary, who was professional, dependable, and great with the neighborhood kids. Since he left, service has been an absolute joke. Waste Management avoids service, blames customers, and then tries to charge them when called out. If you have a choice, do not use this company. If you don't have a choice, document everything -- because WM will lie, deflect, and hope you give up. read more

Ordered new service (looks like I have made a huge mistake). Service is scheduled to start next week. Have reached out to WM 3 times, 2 times they said my garbage can would be delivered Monday (to late), one said it would be delivered today. All 3 Customer Service Representatives have tried to rush me off the phone and dismissed my concerns. Looks like I am on the path to cancel the service after a month. read more

I left a review on 11/20 in which Waste Management responded to. I sent a copy of the review to the email as requested and spoke with Sheena (not sure on spelling) at the corporate office that same afternoon. Since it was so late in the day, she couldn't say for sure that my container would be retrieved same day. However, she all but guaranteed that it would be picked up by the end of the week (11/25 - I'll be gracious and include Saturday, even though I was told Friday). Here it is - 11/27 and my container has yet to be picked up. At this point, I have absolutely no faith that it will be picked up before the end of the year. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for trash services. Trying to get my container picked up has been an absolutely nightmare and the customer service is a joke. All they will do is "escalate" the issue but won't help with any resolution. read more

Moved to Louisville in November and like another reviewer has said they have missed several trash and recycling pickups since we started paying them. I believe since December our recycling was picked up 1 time. First of all it took them well over a week to even deliver us a recycling can. They canceled pickup in January due to inclement weather and instead of picking up another day they just waited until the next week, for recycling that meant that we had to wait another 2 weeks. You can NEVER get ahold of customer service. I called during their listed office hours to cancel our service and they told me the office was closed and the automation literally hung up on me. I have never paid for such a terrible service or dealt with any business as terrible as Waste Management. Do not make the mistake we did, especially in Louisville where there are other great options. I just bought a house and moved in around mid October. I started service mid-November. Waste Management has already missed two pick-ups, one for the weather, which they did not reschedule (they just said they'd pick it up this week), and once this week due to "inclement weather", even though everyone has been back to work for a week and they're an essential service. They missed the second pick up in two weeks and didn't even give notice. Also, they weren't even going to pick up the missed recycling they're overcharging me for. I tried to call but they close before 5, and every time I tried to use their chat service it would drop me before I could speak to anyone. None of this stopped them from billing me the full amount. I plan to cancel their service as soon as they pick this garbage up, so it might be awhile. read more

Way too expensive for the service they provide. They want to charge $248 for 3 months and They won't pick up a few boxes on the ground. If they don't pick your trash up that day then good luck, you will just have to wait until next pickup day. Drivers sit in the truck and send pictures of your trash can saying it was too full when all they have to do is push a button to pick up your can. They're constantly raising rates, and threatening fees. Most recently they delayed our service due to weather (understandable) and said that it would be delayed a day. Three days later, after no pick up, we call to find out what was going on and they let us know that they just decided to skip us this week without any notice. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I was with them for 9 years and initially they were attentive, understanding, and put the customers first. However, over the last year they have went down hill quick! They have added so many rules and regulations and half the time did not service my trash. They used to send out a second pick up if they missed your stop or couldn't service you. But now they do not and will make you wait until the next service date. If your trash is full because they missed the week before they will not take all the trash and it's a repeating cycle. Customer service offers no solution to this issue other then you putting the trash in your own car and taking it to a disposal site even though that's what you pay them for. read more

I have had them service my trash, recycling, and yard waste for about 3 months. They have missed my pickups more often than not and getting in contact with someone is impossible. Their website tells you to report missed pickups through their app but there is not an option to do so. Terrible billing practices! To pay a bill over the phone with an actual person they charge you $8.00! To pay over the phone with the computer they charge $5.00. What a pathetic excuse for customer service. At home, we quit their service, then they sent a bill for $185 for services that we never received. We tried to contact them to dispute and of course, couldn't get to anyone. (Remember......customer service is a joke here). They sent to collections and we paid the darn thing just to make them go away. At work, they LOVE to charge for "Overage charges" On the dumpster. They are EXPENSIVE my bill goes up every 3 months. They are a rip off. I use to pay for yard waste and recycling. Trucks will combine these items even though you pay separately with a hefty surcharge. They missed my yard waste today after stopping in front of my house. Look elsewhere for a dumpster rental. One rep can offer different pricing than another. They aren't responsive when you try and book a rental through their email when the rep requested that I respond back via email. They are $300 more than Rumpke and not as friendly. So one is paying about 40% more to not be helped. read more

I drug my cans to the end of the driveway Sunday night in the pouring rain as my pick up is on Monday morning's. Monday at 4.30 I called wanting to know why it wasn't picked up Tuesday I called to see why it still hadn't been picked up and was assured both days it would be picked up by end of business day. Here it is Wednesday New year's day and my trash is still where i put it Sunday night. I don't get a new bill until Feb and I have a credit on that bill as I paid way up in advance. I've only I read these warnings of reviews before becoming a customer would have saved me tons of stress and disappointment. We recently moved into our home and decided to go with WM. Ordered our services on July 30th. Every week since then I have been on the phone with them trying to get a container. I've spoke to every employee. Every manager. Their excuse? "We are delayed in containers in your area" after a month and going back and forth. My trash piled up and I gave up hope to continue my services. Finally after a month we decided to cancel our services. Well that week they decided to bring out a container. Now, almost two months later we're practically pleading with them to take their container back. Was told to leave it on the curb. It's been sitting there for 2 weeks. This company is an on going nightmare. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the stress. We ended up going with Republic Services, they've been great so far. Received our containers immediately and they have been so prompted with pick ups and communication. Waste Management needs to do everything a favor and just shut down. read more

I've been a customer of Waste Management at my current residence since 2008. Recently I've been really looking at how expensive my quarterly statement is and because of that I called around to other Hometown solutions. I found waste removal for less annually than I've historically paid per quarter so I called Waste Management to cancel my service. I have two months of service that has already been paid and I was promptly notified that I would forfeit that money and they were going to charge me a $75 fee to pickup their 96 gallon container. After far too much debate and two calls the CSR was able to waive the pickup fee, but the supervisor I spoke to offered nothing in the form of a prorated refund. This company is not an ethical company and gouges its most loyal customers with fees, surcharges, and they act like they have a monopoly on their respective space. I would recommend anyone considering this company to call around and get competitive pricing. You will find far better customer service and far better pricing. read more

During this passed winter they didn't make any runs on certain days because they claim the roads were bad (even though no ice was on the ground in my neighborhood at the time) so they came on a day that I dont usually put my trash out. I was fed up with their shitty services and sent an email in stating I wanted to cancel my services 1/27/18. Waste management wanted me to reply to their email and do a survey on why I didn't want their services of course I gave them bad scores all down the survey and replied multiple times that I didn't want their shitty services anymore. Today 4/16/18 I get bill for 132.50 for services from 5/1/18-7/31/18 even though I canceled back on 1/27/18 how does that work? Absolute worst service ever. Everything was so bad I had to cancel my service. Unfriendly and a waste of money and time. They will miss pickups and even take your trash can. If you ever have a problem it will take them weeks to give you an answer and if you leave a message they just won't reply. Not to mention the cost! Total rip off artists. Was a customer for 8 plus years, stupid me! Had to call constantly because our bill would mysteriously start rising each cycle. They bank on the customer not paying attention. So at one point I realized our latest bill was 40%higher from when we started with them. Called and they immediately lowered our bill back down to the rate we had been quoted in the first place. Why was it even raised to begin with? Fast forward 6 months, our Bill started rising again. This time I called and cancelled service. Started up Rumpke the same day and they are awesome. A few weeks after I cancelled, I got a bill from waste management for October service. We cancelled in September, why am I getting this bill? Called and they insanely insist I owe this bill. Asked to speak to a supervisor and was told one was not available. However 2 days after calling I received a collection notice in the mail! Unbelievable! I will be reporting this to every place I can think of. It is ridiculous!! read more
