I requested recycling to be added to my trash service and they brought me an extra tran can that I did not request and charged me for it. Contacting any kind of support is a joke. I finally got my recycling can and I left it on the curb for 2 weeks and has never been picked up but my bill went from $24 a month to $150. Terrible service. If they damage your cans, you have to put you cans in the street, not on the curb or driveway, for up to days. They will not tell you what day they are coming. Also, the cans have to be empty. Causing me problems with the neighbors and the HOA, as well as being unsightly and causing problems with every to store the garbage while the empty cans are out. I live one block north of the Tucson city limits, in Pima county. And I have been a Waste Management customer for three years. Every four or five months we have service interruptions. When I use their app or website to report a missed pickup, I get a confirmation number, but have yet to have a missed pickup actually picked up before the next scheduled date. And they are getting worse. They no longer have a customer service phone number on their website. Yesterday I spent 30 minutes waiting for a person to CHAT with on their website. Then that person told me that I had not set out my bin (it is always set out after dinner, the day before pickup. ALWAYS, for three years). The first time I knocked the dents out of it myself so I could continue to use it. last week it was dented so much i could hardly move it. Why didn't I do more research into these guys? Brand recognition doesn't mean good service, and that's true with WM. Been a customer now for 6 weeks and NOT ONCE have they picked up my trash on my assigned day. 15 minute hold time to talk to anyone and they make web chat extremely hard to find. Trash pickup was missed Tuesday - December 26 - 2023. Since Christmas Day was on the 25th, pickup was scheduled for the next day, the 26. Recyle bins were emptied. The trash pickup truck drove quickly around the Hartman Vistas TJ Bednar neighborhood but didn't pickup the trash. Today is Friday, December 29 and trash has still not been picked up. It's basically impossible to talk to a live agent at WM. I've tried multiple times. This time I was on hold for over two hours!! Their Chat doesn't work any more either; They deleted the page (they said they did this "sustainably" LOL!!) After 2 hrs and 15 minutes (I just left the phone on hold and did grocery shopping!) an agent finally answered. Of course they assured me that pick up was scheduled for today (12/29/23 ) by 5:30 pm. They said this was what they call a "Code Red" and should have priority for pickup ASAP. When our HOA manager called WM he didn't speak to a "live" person, but saw on the pick-up schedule that there was a scheduled pick up today by 5:30. Of course they didn't come by 5:30 pm 12/29 as promised - again. Unfortunately, it's their usual MO. Now we'll see if they schedule to pick up Tuesday, Jan. 2nd, miss that, and then only pick up on the following Monday - January 8th! Ina Road WM facility in Tucson and corporate WM apparently do not communicate. I was please with my services until WM decided to raise their prices by 18% which they admitted was the highest they have ever done and then when I called to cancel at the end of my period told me I had to pay another $75 for can pick up because I was canceling due to their service rate hike. So now if you finish your contract but don't accept the rate hike they charge you to cancel basically trying to force you into accepting a large rate hike. Our HOA chose Waste Management for our garbage and recycling. They are courteous and reliable - picking up our garbage and recycling consistenty and on time. However, I question recycling glass as I've found broken glass on our streets much too often. When recycling we're not able to put the glass in a garbage bag to prevent broken glass going all over, and so I'm not sure exactly WHY the glass is all over the streets, but it's a health and safety hazard. I'm out there sweeping up broken glass on my street way to often, in order to 1) keep it from spreading, 2) getting into our shoes and tires and ending up in our homes and most importantly 3) to prevent injury to our children and pets. WHAT IS THE SOLUTION? I've called and complained. The only solution I see is to stop recycling glass. Any other suggestions? read more

I have emailed, spoken to a representative in another state who also emailed customer service and a supervisor, on hold for two hours at a time, attempted the chat option and no response back. The more I pay the worse the service. Each week for the past couple of months, there's been a missed pickup. Their service has gone way down, their trucks are gas guzzling, belching messes & the drivers pee outside the truck at the end of the road. UNACCEPTABLE! Never do business with this company if you have an alternate!! I cancelled my service on June 18, and the tote was retrieved by them within a week. On July 6, they withdrew from my account the service fee for July-September! I complained to them about it at which time their agent told me I would be given credit for that fee on my final bill. On July 15 I contacted them again when I received my final bill, without any credit for the service I paid for but had no way to use. The agent told me she could do nothing about the July payment that had been taken but helped me revoke WM's authority to withdraw any more money from my bank account. I verified on my portal it was turned off. The 2 payments were similar with the balance in WM's favor so they would have been fully paid for the money they were owed. On August 6 I received verification that the July 15 payment had been withdrawn from my bank account as well, AFTER I revoked authority for them to do so. If you have to do business with this company, never, ever, give them access to your bank account. They will still take out any money they want, even after you tell them to stop! Pay them only by check or the Bill Pay service of your bank. read more

I really shouldn't be surprised that WM has one star as I sit on hold AGAIN for over 1.5 hours to try and get my bin dumped AFTER they claim it was picked up as scheduled for two weeks in a row. Try to call as soon as they miss and sit on hold for hours before the line goes blank. This is honestly pretty ridiculous... There should be something that could be done. Maybe if they lost tons of residents and businesses they would have time for ACTUAL customer service for the ones that are left. Realistically they know we are in a spot and can't really stop service due to contracts and the fact that trash accumulates. It's a garbage garbage service and if you ACTUALLY want to get your trash picked up REGULARLY, I would NOT use Waste Management. We took photo of their placement and diligently placed bins in exact position. I left them because I moved somewhere that had trash service. Cancelled service prior to next invoice and was told there was a charge for picking up the bins that was super unreasonable. I offered instead to drop the bins off personally but they wouldn't allow that. Next, even though I cancelled before next service date I still got some late fees and threats for collections. Watch out. There is no way to contact these people. Neither the Tucson number nor the Phoenix number work. My bill in Oro Valley went from$105.00 quarterly to $315.00 quarterly. My neighbors billing remained $105.00 quarterly or $35.00 a month. We had the same service. Pick up twice a week and 2 cans, with recycling one of the 2 days. When we called to complain about the outrageous jump in price, Hillary, at waste management said she would hate to see us go (I bet) and would put the price back down to $105.00 quarterly (BECAUSE THEY WERE FOUND OUT FOR PRICE GOUDGING) she never mentioned reimbursing us the over payment. We cancelled and are now going with Republic once a week and 2 cans for $35.00 a month. I will be taking on Waste Management, to get my reimbursement back, if I have to take them to small claims court. I am in the Oro Valley Country Club area. read more
