I've been eating here since high school (10+ years)! It's my go to sushi place! They have the best fried rice in town hands down!

All went well. The service was good, the good and the ambiance was good as well. It was quiet enough to hold conversation.

We love sakekawa! The food is always great, the service is awesome, and the vibes are just perfect. Their happy hour is worth checking out.

I got horrible food poisoning from this location and have been sick for 2 days straight. I called to let them know and they did not care, no offer to speak to a manager or anything. All I got was a "hope you feel better" and then hung up on. If I could give 0 stars I would, horrible experience and I fear sushi has been ruined for probably forever. 0/10 do not recommend. read more

I know it's pandemic times, and local businesses need community support... But, it's a shame when lack of quality isn't worth it to the customer. I ordered delivery from here, and small details were overlooked. I asked for extra wasabi & ginger, but instead got NONE at all. The sushi rice was cold & stale. The fish was dry & did not taste fresh. And ingredients in the ramen soup (the noodles, egg, and the pork) were extremely overcooked and had awful textures. Our intended restaurant was closed and this was nearby, so we rolled in to give it a shot. The menu was diverse and included udon, ramen, sushi and sashimi. We have been long-time customers here. We've enjoyed the food, and we've enjoyed the service - especially from Marco who's great. For the first time last night we were hit with a credit card surcharge and an automatic 18% gratuity on the bill. Crazy. I was actually going to tip more than that, but I cannot abide either of these two. Additionally, the portion size for our favorite dish has dwindled to laughable. Worst experience. Ordered food for pickup through DD. Picked it up. Receipt showed all items were included. On getting home realized one was not. Spoke to the manager, Dominic. He immediately indicated they were out of one of the ingredients and proceeded to blame DD. He had every opportunity to inform us that they were out when we picked it up. First time here and wasn't impressed. Ordered the happy hour sushi and on all three roles, the sushi rice was literally gooey and soggy. All 3 times, the cooks (not chefs) failed to add wasabi and ginger to each plate. Really? HELLO! (Y'all need to go back to Sushi school 101.) I'm surprised the waiter didn't notice it, all 3 times. My zucchini was about an inch thick. Salad was soggy. Soup was the smallest I've had. The other hibachi places nearby are all better. We got there 5 min before lunch ended but the manager refused to give us the lunch price. She's the unhappy grey haired hostess that has attitude for everyone. Are we the only ones who didn't know about hidden gem? We live right down the street but didn't notice until I researched the location and came in to place a to go order for my husbands 40th birthday. The happy hour specials were intriguing, and the food we saw on the patio looked delicious. So for the first time since the pandemic (8 months) we actually sat down inside a restaurant. The plan was to order a couple of items off the happy hour menu and our son could select for a to-go order. But the place was clean, only had a couple of customers inside, and the food was fabulous and too fresh to eat from a to-go box. I had to go home and pick up my husband for the proper experience. I just received my food and immediately noticed how small and different it looked. I order the same thing every.single.time so I am familiar with what it looks like. I called the restaurant and told them it was extremely small with hardly any fish and loaded with rice. The manager told me, rudely, that she wasn't going to refund my money. I told her I didn't want a refund I wanted it remade. She said no and told me it was a different sushi person making it. I told her that should not matter when it comes to quality. She still didn't do anything. She wad extremely rude. I paid over 50 for something the size of a California roll. I ordered the tiger roll. If you go look at the menu you'll see it's supposed to be loaded with all different types of fish, this was not. We do not plan to return to this location. Sushi was good, service was terrible in spite of an over staffed crew with lots of empty tables. Sake was ordered when we arrived and delivered to our table 15 minutes later. Appetizer was delivered much later and after we received our sushi. Sushi was delivered without soy sauce, wasabi, ginger and serving plates. Our waiter acted liked we were making lots of special requests. No apologies all evening. I have been coming to Sakekawa for years! This location used to be pretty hit or miss but in recent months they have really stepped up their game! Their presentation, fish and rolls are all on point! My last visit I had japanese snapper, surf clam and tuna nigiri. They all tasted so fresh! My friend and I split the summer roll number 1, we opted to have the mayo on the side. The last time I ordered they were a little heavy handed, it was so much better this time. I love what they are doing with their presentation! All of their plates have tiny little lights! Go elsewhere for hibachi. My daughter ordered steak hibachi. To her surprise steak hibachi is mostly mushrooms with some steak. After she dug out the mushrooms and tried the steak, it was extremely tough. When we told our waiter, he said all hibachi's come with mushrooms (not true) and refused to accommodate my daughter. I asked for the manager and she insisted the steak hibachi always came with mushrooms. I asked her how should customers know this if it's their first visit and the menu doesn't state mushrooms are part of the dish. The manager responded we'll know this on our next visit. Never again will we visit this restaurant- horrible customer service and a menu which doesn't accurately describe the main ingredients in the dish. We have been coming to Sakekawa for 14 years. Started in the Indian Spring location, and when opening up, the Research Forest Location. Ken and his wife always managed the place perfect. The food was always great, and the house wines were really good. We used to eat there at least once a week. I am not sure what happened in the last couple of years since Ken left, but it is not the same. We gave it another shot after months of not eating there. The service was fine (that's why 3 stars). We ordered a bento box, some rolls and nigiris. The nigiris were very (very) small, almost laughable for the happy hour price of $2,50 a piece. The rolls were mediocre, my husbands bento box arrived after I finished my sushi. The house sauvignon blanc was undrinkable, sent it back, ordered something else, but they still charged us for the undrinkable wine. Come on guys, you can do better! read more

I came in for lunch on a Tuesday. At 11:30 the place was completely empty. Looks really nice and clean. I had one of the sushi lunch specials. 4 piece sushi, and a roll. They had 6-8 to choose from. I got a rainbow roll. It was, shall we say, a lunch portion. It also could have been wrapped a little tighter. The reason for the 4 stars is because, for $14.95, I expect more food than I got. We decided to try a new place that was outside our typical eating patterns and picked this place because it is near our house and has been around quite a while, even when others in the same strip mall have closed down and opened up next door. I also will preface this by saying that none of my family enjoy sushi or sashimi....but we figured they must have something else and boy were we right. We were there for lunch on Sunday after church and there was no wait for a table. The interior was dim, tasteful and fit well with the cuisine of the restaurant. Were were surprised to see they had several hibachi grills but no one was sitting at them. Our server was prompt, friendly and very efficient through out the meal. We all decided to order off the lunch menu. We started off with some Tempura Vegetables as an appetizer and found them to be as expected. They were a little greasy but not overly and we were satisfied. There were three of us and two of us ordered the Bento boxes (Teriyaki Salmon and Chicken Katsu) and one ordered the Hibachi Shrimp. All of us enjoyed our meals. Since this was our first time at this restaurant, we did not know what came in the Bento box so we were quite surprised to see a fried eggroll and cream cheese wonton, 4 pcs of California roll, fried rice ($1 upgrade from white rice), stir fried bean sprouts/carrots, etc. along with the entree. Quite a bargain and made us with we had not ordered the appetizer as we could not finish it all. My only negative is that the Bento box could have been better explained on the menu or by the server but I guess we are novices at Japanese restaurants and most people must know. This is definitely a place we will come back to so we can try other dishes from the menu that looked inviting. So, even if you only want cooked food, you should give this place a try. read more

Chicken was a bit odd in texture and I noticed that they had served me undercooked chicken (still rubbery and pink on the inside). Waiter spoke to the manager and she only took 15% off the meal (not even off the bill itself)....once I said "you're joking right?" to the waiter, then she removed the meal entirely off the bill. Why I came here? I saw they had tempura shrimp accompany my favorite soup, Nabeyaki. I'm serious. That was the reason, the CATCH. Time frame: I went at lunch. Was over cooked, too much sauce so i could barely taste anything else. The miso soup is hard to mess up right??? Wrong! I had one piece of mushroom and 2 tofu and some seaweed. It was also salty. YET. The server, a nice sweet girl, was very sweet. Did i say sweet already? Yeah, she was. Tho..... She forgot our food orders, gingers, silverware, beer, etc. Here's the story: Beer took a while to come out, she forgot. When the "bento box" came out, I looked at it and said "I thought its supposed to be in a box?". She did ask us earlier if we need ginger for our half California roll included in our bento box, but she never brought the ginger, and now she brought out the wrong thing, a teriyaki plate or something.
