The burger basket with a soda was $14, which is around the same price as a large Big Mac meal (except with much better ingredients). The hand cut fries were perfect, not to many restaurants still make their fries this way. It was nice knowing that the potatoes used were grown in the area. The place was pretty packed when we got there, so we chose to eat at the bar. It took forever to get a waitress to bring us any drink or take our order. Then it took forever again to get our food. We had waitresses not make eye contact, it was weird. Hubby had the haddock in garlic butter which was good, but not much garlic flavor. I had the cheese curds and calamari. Nothing special to either of them other than they could have gone a little lighter on the breading. We've been here over all hour already and now can't get our check. A solid spot whether you live in the area or passing through. They offer lots of choices. Over the past few days we tried a few different items from The Rusty Crab. The pizza was good. The burgers were yummy with a choice of griddling or chargrilling. I of course ordered mine with a side of poutine! The chicken salad was not that exciting. The waitstaff were friendly but were busy with the amount of people frequenting there. They have a bright, open dining space that fills up quickly in a town with few dining options. As a 49 year old that has traveled to 44 states and 22 countries, the whole clams with mashed potatoes from the Rusty Crab was probably the best meal I've ever had. There are chives in the potatoes and the clams were absolutely perfect. Our server Alyssa was also top notch. If I didn't live in Florida, I would easily eat here weekly. I. Am. Impressed. Okay, so I'm not usually a lobster roll person. I usually order a whole lobster 1.5 pound soft shell; personally I feel putting good lobster on a roll is just as weird as putting prime rib on a bun. But since moving further north, I haven't found a place that makes a lobster dinner, only lobster rolls. So, I've ordered a lot. I don't eat the bun, order it made with butter (as opposed to mayo) and served warm. This is the BEST lobster roll I've had in the County. The lobster tasted freshly cooked and picked. The server (a young teenage boy, super nice and thorough--I've never seen a car hop follow up on an order and customers before) asked how I wanted the roll made. And I got to have it EXACTLY the way I like it. It's also the first appropriately priced roll I've seen in a long time! I know how market pricing works, and most places significantly over charge just because they can. Being as good and reasonably as it is, I'll definitely be back and probably have to control myself to not go weekly. My husband had the cheeseburger, and he was pleased too. Don't blink or you'll miss this roadside gem. These rolls are full of claw lobster and dressed perfectly on a crispy toast. Fairly plain but real lobster rolls, they could've used some fresh lemon and I would have given them 5/5. I got the fisherman's platter to go got two meals out it excellent food. Also grabbed a pizza for the next day was also very good.

Place is clean but the good stops there. We stopped for lunch on a Friday. Ordered crab cakes which had very little crab, cake fell apart and they were cold. My friend asked for roumalade or aioli and the server responded... what's that? I ordered BBQ chicken for 13.50 and was served 2 small pre-made chicken fingers in a bowl of BBQ sauce. 2 in our party did get ok food, however, we waited over an hour for lunch. Wouldn't be quite so bad if we hadn't watched 5 other parties get seated on, waited, served and checked out while we continued to wait. Nobody was particularly rude but we were certainly ignored. We are 2 elderly, easy going couples. We never got an update, never got refills and never got an apology. I know times are tough but this was awful. If I could give this place negative stars, I would. We walked in on Thursday at 6. Told we could pick one of 3 tables by the bar. We sat for 20 minutes watching a meandering young man who worked there wander through the dining room back to the kitchen, then repeat. We watched the waitress talk up patrons, except us. No greeting, no I know you're here. We grabbed meandering boy, to ask about service and he said he could bring us drinks. Finally waitress shows us to take our order. As part of my order, I asked for hush puppies to start. Meandering boy shows up about 15 minutes after we place our order to tell us there were no hush puppies. Excuse me? It takes 15 minutes to notice that A) I ordered them, and B) you don't have them? About 7:00, the waitress comes with scoops of cottage cheese and cole slaw for sides. This is about half an hour after we placed our order, and the first time we have food on the table. We finally got entrées, which were room temp. I asked for crab legs, and had to ask twice for a nut cracker to eat them. My melted butter for my crab legs and seared scallops was room temp sludge. Oh, I replaced my starter with fried mushrooms. My husband and I went to the Rusty Crab's new location for the first time today. We were really looking forward to it, we heard such good reviews about the old roadside location. We arrived around 1pm on a Sunday and very hungry! I ordered a cheeseburger, fries and coleslaw, my husband ordered deep fried shrimp with fries, no apps. It took well over an hour to get our food. Our waitress never came back to our table after serving our drinks and a coleslaw. We had to flag her down to ask if she could check on our meal. She said she was 3 weeks new to the job as she apologized for the service and blamed the wait on the kitchen. I do understand short staffing issues, but if the wait time after being seated is going to be that long it should be mentioned before being seated. I also saw other customers that arrived after us served meals before we were. The food was nothing to make us go back again in the future. It took two hours total, in and out, for subpar "fast" food. Came up to Mars Hill, ME from Boston area and everyone I asked about getting a lobster roll said this place could not be beat! So I decided to take the short ride down the street to try it out and drove right by it the first time, the place is tiny (but you always know the tiny places usually have the best food) , so it is run out of a trailer type thing with an area built around if so when your ordering in the cold winter your nice and warm! The food it self was really great, I myself got the Haddock nuggets dinner with came with 1/2 pound of fish nuggets, fresh fries, cole slaw, and a roll with butter for around $9, plenty of food!! Now the fish was fresh fell right away while eating it, the fries are probably as fresh as you can get them, grown in town and cut and cooked when you order them! Not too much of a selection of drink inside but there was a Pepsi vending machine outside of the shack! Service was awesome the guy serving us was nice and talkative and I am looking forward to eating here again if I'm back in this area! read more
