My grandmother tried to take me out for supper here about a week ago, and we were greeted by the most rude and off putting group of staff I have ever encountered. A few of the girls I recognized from high school, just as rude and mean as ever. To start off, we had a reservation for 5:30, traffic was really bad and I knew we were going to be a few minutes late. I called around 5:15 to give them a heads up we were going to be 5-10 minutes late in which I got an extremely sassy reply from the girl on the phone telling me she "guesses that's okay." We only ended up being 5 minutes late, when we arrived the girl with the piercing on her cheek told us in a very snarky way that because we were late that we would have one hour to eat and then we would have to leave so they could give the table to someone else. Mind you there were only two tables occupied inside and 3 occupied outside. A family member from the states had prepaid for our dinner in American dollars, which was mentioned on the phone when the reservation was made. When my grandmother brought this up, she also simply asked how the restaurants exchange rate worked and if she didn't spend the full amount that was paid toward the dinner if she would get that money or if it would be kept for the next time. The girl tending to us didn't know and went over to the rest of the girls to ask them. They stood and huddled and talked for like 5 minutes before the girl came back and said she didn't know and that's out of her pay grade. My grandmother was confused and asked her question again to which miss Tori looked over and shouted across the restaurant that they don't accept American cash. We then re-explained that our dinner was prepaid and my grandmother just has a simple question about how the exchange rate worked with the payment method. Another girl then said that they didn't do that sort of thing there and that she didn't know what we were taking about. Another one then scoffed "fucking Americans." First of all, we are not even American, and that was just unnecessary. I also stated when I walked in that I am a type 1 diabetic and that my sugars were low. I asked if I could please have a glass of orange juice and stressed that it was urgent to which they replied they couldn't do that until we were sat and had ordered. They said they couldn't help us and that maybe we should go somewhere else. So we did just that. Shoutout to the STMR for amazing portions of food for the price and great service (they gave me orange juice immediately) Apparently my dad and his buddies went here a few months back and got food poisoning from shit tasting clams. It's really a shame because it's a beautiful restaurant and the menu genuinely sounds amazing. I was really looking forward to it, but sadly do not recommend!

The food is so good and there's something for everyone. They also have weekly lunch specials that are always a hit. Their ingredients are fresh and local and everything is of high quality, without getting too pricey. They also have a gluten free menu that is specifically cooked separately to avoid cross-contamination - a very important factor for some highly-coeliac family members. I almost ordered some seafood, but I wanted a nice piece of fish, and I got four of them, perfectly cooked, and not at all greasy -- you could eat it with your hands once it cools. Crunchy on the outside, flaky and moist on the inside. Wonderful. Best I've had in a while. Some of the fries were a little soggy, but it was nothing a little pepper and vinegar (white, not malt; is that a regional thing?) couldn't fix. Also, their tartar sauce comes in plastic cups, and annoyingly small ones at that. They could whip up their own in five minutes or less, and save us the trouble of trying to tear off those little foil lids. Despite some minor issues, this was the best fish and chips I've had in a long time. I don't know when (or if) I'll return to Canada, so if not, I'll dream about that fish.
