Seriously - every member of the team that has ever waited on me is a superstar! What a compliment to the team for sure - all of the them - those in the front and back of the house. But Dear Management - never get the big head - keep up the culture, esprit de corps and out of this world customer service that you and your team create every visit. Hats off for hot food that is hot! Cold food that is cold! Tasty treats that are so very tasty! And doing it all with a smile and safely as you dart around the parking lot and drive up areas. Thanks a bunch! This place is kitschy and cool and always clean!

Since the small chain was sold a few years ago the bricks and mortar and service has remained relatively the same but the quality of food has declined to less than average. The hamburgers are no longer sparking the palate. The fish sandwich from today was disgusting in flavor and looked like ground up fish waste when examined under the fried crust. Every person I talk to about Swensons from age 10 to 80 who have known the place for a long time feel the same about the decline in unique burgers etc. We will all miss this jewel of the past.

Lived in the area for a while and have heard all of the great things about Bob's Hamburger…read more Finally had the opportunity to stop in for a Double Mushroom Swiss burger, fries, homemade pickle and vinegar based coleslaw - it was out of this world! The best we've had! Then topped it off with a perfect chocolate shake. Our hostess/waitress was phenomenal, brought our pickle out sliced into 4's so we could share it without needing to ask. This 95 year old business brings you back to a time when food was great and made 4 feet in front of you while still affordable. You won't need a jacket for this place, just enjoy the history of this throwback 'lil diner, their food and we'll see you there!

In the past several years, ownership has changed hands 3-4 times and they've gotten further from what made them so good each time. I visited today and it will be my last attempt. There are several things you can do to ruin a great burger and they seem intent on checking all of the boxes. Weird, grainy and overly sweet "house made" ketchup: Check Oversized bun that is dense and almost stale? Check Horrible locally made pickles? Check Hopping on board with the weird trend of putting some of the condiments on the top bun and some on the bottom bun? Check I could go on, but nothing about the food at this place resembles anything they served during the glory days that allowed them to stay in business for multiple decades. Some people don't understand the concept of "If it ain't broke..". Too many Food Network style ideas with very poor execution. As soon as I saw the word "confit" in the description of today's special burger, I should have turned around and left.

Servers that were there moved on to other employment opportunities. People grow older, for some retirement is in their sights, sadly for some retirement is not by their own choosing by whatever circumstances. Some small establishments are passed to family member that will with all heart keep that business going and thriving. Some Proprietors have no one to pass their legacy to, and others pass it along with hopes and expectations that do not come to fuision. When someone takes over a small business their goal is sometimes not to make changes too quickly then to the detriment of the business some want to quickly make changes. Some changes chase people away. Hodges Cafe had a glorious heyday. Hodge was always a friendly face ready for nice conversation or life advise. The Hodge Burger was award winning in this area; people still crave them. Friday nights were great for a Hodge Burger then walk it off with a walk to the theatre for a movie (now closed) then walk back to Hodges for beers. Sad that most of the neighborhood establishments are gone now. Barberton had quite a few neighborhood places that could be safely walked to from home. It seems to now be a rarity that people can pass along anything and expect the recipient to love it with as much heart as the giver. Your public misses you Hodge.

The hamburger bun is dry and cold...the fries are too thin and greasy....but the cheeseburger itself is the best I've eaten in a dive bar.
