While I'm not a person that is an expert on other workout clothing brands, I'd consider Academy's apparel based on core offerings and sales racks. They have men's , women's and youth sizing. Service was good for our return and purchase. No waiting for assistance. I also noticed buttons around the departments to press for assistance. They have an entire wall of shoes for every type of sport. This store provides a great variety - and I can't think of a sport missed. It was nice to see people enjoying their niche area, from a family with a son doing baseball and a young adult looking at golf clubs. Inside, the aisles were wide and clean, and everything was easy to find, from fishing poles to gym gear to a whole wall of Nike and Adidas shoes. What really stood out was how helpful the staff were. One guy helped me find the exact pair of trail runners I'd been eyeing online, and a manager even checked me out and thanked me personally. You don't always get that kind of service these days. They had a solid clearance section too--I saw someone rolling out with a kayak for half off. Definitely one of the better Academy stores I've been to. I've been in Quest probably a dozen times to look around but I've never spent any money there until…read morerecently. I'm currently preparing for a trip in late August so new hiking shoes and some specific pants were needed. I checked online and found the shoes I needed. I also knew they had a variety of pants to choose from so I figured I'd just browse while there. Since I need to try on at least one of those things, I decided to take a quest to Quest after work. As soon as I arrived at the shoe section, one of the workers asked me if I was looking for anything... I told her the name of the shoe and if they had a certain size. Boom! Got them. Tried them on. Done. It was the same with the pants. I've been updating a portion of my gear for this trip but I went ahead and decided to browse the store. While browsing the rest of the store, every section had an employee that asked if I was looking for anything. Super nice staff! I love that this store has a downstairs, upstairs, and middle floor. I do wish it was labeled a bit better. There are obvious sections but then there are other things just hanging out. It kind of encourages you to browse the store every time if you're looking for something specific. I guess that goes with the name... Quest. I'm only subtracting one star because of the prices. Some things I've found are cheaper in store than online while other things are more expensive than online. For that reason, Quest isn't the first thing that pops into my mind when I need new gear. Ultimately, I'm glad we have a shop like this in Louisville. It's handy to have if you need something specific for a trip and can't find the perfect item online.

Walked out with a kayak, beef jerky, and the sudden desire to grow a beard and live off the grid. This place has everything: flannel shirts that whisper "I chop wood recreationally", boots tougher than your ex, and a taxidermy collection that's probably more extensive than the Smithsonian's. The staff? Super helpful. They knew exactly which rod I needed for "panfish, but like, aggressive ones."
