If you're looking for a class that actually gives your results, then you definitely need to try a boxing class with Merissa! It is the hardest workout I've ever tried but if you're looking for a challenge then this is the place for you. I've tried other gyms/classes in the area - Solidcore, Pure Barre, Lifetime, Orange Theory - but I see the best results from Womenbox. The class is one hour. It definitely caters to all skill levels. I didn't have any boxing experience beforehand. There are some more experienced boxers that also take the class but they are super encouraging and helpful! The class is a mix between strength training and boxing so you get a full body workout. Since class sizes are not too big, it feels like you're working out with a personal trainer. Merissa (owner and trainer) has built a really incredible community of women who have eachothers backs and are amazingly fun to work out with. I was never athletic and definitely never the kind of person who likes group exercise classes but Womenbox is something else. I got immediately hooked by the kick ass attitude of the community and have never felt safer or more comfortable in a gym in my life. Since I started boxing a year ago I am at the boxing gym at least 4-5 days a week and am stronger, more fit, and more confident than ever before. I would recommend it to literally anyone who wants to learn to throw a punch (but don't worry- it's all on a heavy bag, you won't get hit!) I've been training with Merissa, owner and trainer of WOMENBOX, for a little over a year now. The classes are small, usually around 5-7 people, so you get a lot of individualized attention and instruction. Merissa is great at explaining techniques and how to perfect your form, and spends extra time with beginners in class so everyone feels comfortable and confident. She switches up combinations, drills, cardio, and strength exercises so it's fun, you're never bored, and always get an amazing workout. I've seen huge increases in my strength and endurance, and it's totally changed the way I feel about myself. The environment is body positive and everyone is always encouraging regardless of skill level, aspects that stem from Merissa. I have been working out at WOMENBOX for almost two years. Merissa, the trainer and owner, never lets us down in creating a challenging workout. I love the intensity of the workout which includes resistance training and actual boxing techniques. There are always options available for modifying a move to address any physical limitations. It's been a while since I've been able to take a class, but I will be making an assessment of how to fit in classes since the scheduling has been updated offering more a la carte options.I also love the look and feel of the website, ease of use and quick customer service when I encounter an issue which has always resulted in user error. :) read more
