I originally thought I'd go with one particular midwife, but she was booked when I needed my first appointment, so they put me with Jane Bradley instead for that first meeting. We ended up liking her so much that we never reverted! She has been great and listening and recommending care for our (more difficult than expected) pregnancy. The office had one snafu where they scheduled me for an appointment and then - without notifying me - cancelled the appointment (I guess one of the midwives needed unexpected knee surgery?), but I was really impressed at how the office rallied to get me the care I needed within 24 hours. Definitely glad I found this practice!

I scheduled an appt with a new gyno months ago & patiently waited 9 weeks- almost 2 months for my appt. It was with Dr. Gassner. The MORNING OF- 2 HOURS before my appt I get a call from the receptionist saying the Doctor is on vacation and she won't know when she'll be back. After I waited 9 weeks for my appt??? Then she said- we can get you in in about 10 days but it won't be with Dr. Gassner it will be with someone else- Dr. Gassner isn't taking new patients. Why wasn't I told this 9 weeks ago when I made the appt? Doctors are supposed to be compassionate & caring & this doctor obviously doesn't care about anything but going on vacation and ignoring her patients after waiting 9 weeks to be seen. Unfortunately that's not the service I received…read more The reason I searched for a gynecologist, was because I had two serious UTIs and had two rounds of antibiotics a month apart. A developed what I thought was a yeast infection, my symptoms were a very sore rash, like a diaper rash on my vulva, and swollen painful lymph nodes in my groin. I took 3 day monistat and while the swelling in my lymph nodes went down, the rash persisted. I had no smell and no discharge. Just the rash. I tried plain yogurt on a tampon. Probiotics. Cut sugar grains and alcohol from my diet. Zinc oxide. Saltwater sitz baths. Nothing worked beyond temporary relief. I started developing unsightly varicose veins on my vulva as well as Angiokeratoma of Fordyce, which are flat black spots of pigmentation on the vulva. Obviously this was very concerning. I also developed "lightening crotch" which is when the pelvic floor randomly spasms and it feels like a sharp stabbing pain in the vagina/anus area. The staff when I scheduled an appointment were very nice and sympathetic. And the receptionist didn't bat an eye when I said I was a trans man. They were also lovely when I showed up for the appointment. However the wait times to see the Dr. were extremely long, I had scheduled the appointment with an hour and 15 minutes to get back to work. I wasn't seen for about 45 minutes past my appointment time, which made me pretty anxious, and worried about getting back to work. The Dr. Seemed to be in a mad rush. The exam was over so fast my head was spinning. He just said something about me looking "good" and prescribed me a single pill dose of antifungal medication as well as a topical steroid cream Clotrimazole and Betamethasone Dipropionate. I completely forgot all my questions I was going to ask about the new bulgy viens, black spots and pelvic floor spasms. As well as my concerns about the swollen lymph nodes because of how fast he was going and how worried I was about being late getting back to work. It's been a couple weeks. I never heard back with the results of the tests. And my rash is as bad as ever. I think the cream is making it even worse. I'm so raw it hurts to sit and I'm not sure what to do. It's been over a month that I've had this. I can't have sex. I'm very upset as anyone would be and feeling very dejected if even the gynecologist can't give me answers. To top it off, he seemed pretty ignorant about trans people and asked me unnecessary questions in my opinion about my transition. I just brushed it off, but like, you're a Doctor. I can't be the first trans patient he's ever had. Let's focus on the reason why I'm in office, not my trans status.

My experience delivering a baby was really wonderful…read more I was admitted to triage because my amniotic fluid was leaking at 35 weeks, and I will say the emergency room side of things was a little slow going (we wondered if they'd forgotten us in the room). But once I was admitted upstairs and received care from the midwifery team of Care New England, I felt very seen and cared for. I was in the hospital from Jan 2 - Jan 7, laboring for 42 hours (induced), and every team member I worked with was kind and attentive. Special shoutout to nurses Karen, Rachel and Alyssa, and midwives Jane, Emily and Maggie. They were the ones to see me through some really pivotal moments, although I felt like every nurse I had played a role in my final journey! I also had a team from the NICU at my delivery, and I can't say enough good things about the NICU. They are 100% the best, and I'm so grateful for all they've done for our baby. This is my first birthing experience, so I have no comparison, but given my situation, I would do it all the same way if given the choice.

Waited in the general waiting room for 44 minutes before I went up to receptionist to ask if I would be seen soon. She made a phone call and I was taken to an exam room by Narlis within minutes. Narlis took my vital signs and reviewed my relevant medical history. I then changed into the Johnny and sat on the paper exam table for another 30 minutes, until Narlis and the Dr (Omaka) came in. My exam was quick and painless and the doc was exceptional. Doc communicated with me and answered all my questions. Overall, good people but the wait times are excessive.

He's honest and straight to the point - which I can see why some people may not appreciate that but I think there's a level of over sensitivity that is not something any doctor can control. I've had a history of very traumatic experiences both with OBs and personal life experiences and he went above and beyond to let me know that everything that happens is up to me at my pace - I had an issue (near miss) with gestational diabetes and I appreciated the frank, straightforward dialogue - I was eating terribly (too much candy and indulgence) and it was the wake up call I needed. I also was wrong about my appointment time once, by an hour and he still took the time to see me. My husband had reservations about me having a male OB but after my discussions with Dr. Fersan and meeting him, he agreed that he's a great doctor. I have a cesarean scheduled for Monday because I had a very bad experience with my firstborn and he's been very helpful and attentive to any of my questions. It seems like women expect a female OB pretty consistently but in my experience if you go in with an open mind you're better off. I also see people complaining about the staff - they all seem lovely and I wait no longer than 5 minutes in the waiting room. Idk maybe people are reviewing a different office?

They missed my daughter's diagnosis. I was a patient here since in my teens, I am now in my 30s…read more This was my first pregnancy. I didn't miss an ultrasound and was diligent about getting all the testing done. 20 week ultrasound was reviewed at my following appointment, which put me at 22 weeks. They stated they wanted a level 2 ultrasound because they wanted more images of her brain, which at that time they said was routine. I took the first available date which put me at 25 weeks, not knowing at this point any signs of there being something wrong. At that appointment my daughter was diagnosed with a severe case of Spina Bifida and Chiari 2 malformation. This missed diagnosis and the inability to escalate the level 2 ultrasound to be immediate took away my daughters chances at in utero surgery. We would have met the qualifications if they had just seen the note in the first ultrasound that said they saw signs of ventriculomegaly, fluid in her brain. I was asked by several MFMs why I was so far along and why they're just finding this now. When the offices talked amongst each other to figure out why, I was told it was a clerical error. My options were a late term termination in Washington DC, or a second opinion in Boston. The MFM office here essentially wrote her off stating she would have no quality of life. I wanted more information so I chose Boston, and received much different news. I transferred the remainder of my pregnancy to Brigham and my daughter is now looked after by Boston Children's. She's beautiful, and she deserved options to give her the best quality of life.
