PSA for those of you wanting to check out different gyms.... Here is a recommendation for a place…read moreto AVOID. We absolutely loved Burn Boot Camp until recently. When called out the owner for deceptive business practices, not only did she blocked us on all social media, she also cancelled our memberships immediately and banned us from the gym. Guilty much? Here is a breakdown of events: The owner marketed a Weight Loss challenge the Commit Challenge from 1/13-2/22. This was marketed as a New Year weight loss challenge for everyone and was really hyped up. Everyone got a container of protein and a shirt and entered the competition for $100 ea. There was no criteria sent out prior to signing up other than that it was a weight loss challenge. Here is the timeline of events: 12/27 - First email sent out about Commit Challenge. No mention of winners criteria besides "cash Prizes for Top 3 Biggest Losers" "Schedule Focus Meeting and set your goal by 1/12, says challenge dates are 1/13-2/22." Entry free was $100 per person, we believe about 120 people joined this challenge?. 1/08 email with receipt for charge of entry fee into challenge - The date we were charged for the challenge 1/11 commit challenge info sent out , still does not state criteria used to decide winners, provides link to submit challenge info and states inbody scan must be from prior to 1/13/2025 (has no date range...so theoretically someone could use a scan from last July as there are no written rules stating It must be a recent scan in email) Just says body fat in pounds must be entered on the form. 1/18 week one check in email has no mention of criteria 1/24 week 2 pulse check no mention of winner criteria 2/6 week 3 - Halfway check-in /top losers FIRST MENTION OF CRITERIA FOR CALCULATING HOW IT WOULD BE SCORED. Still Vague. Everyone was to send in their final weigh-ins via google forms by 2/22 6pm. Winners were not announced via email, no one was notified with the exception of a single Instagram post. This is where it gets very confusing. The top winners were VERY thin and who are conveniently close friends with the owner. They could not have possibly lost 20% + body fat without completely starving themselves in an unhealthy way. Larger people who were winning halfway through the challenge suddenly were not even top 10, even after doubling their midway point. People who were larger did not have a chance and it also feels like this was a cash grab as you cannot see any of this information on their public FB pages, or IG other than who won. Even their "VIP" group on Facebook was not notified of anything regarding who won. This entire competition, which we thought would be fun and competitive, was a sham to begin with as anyone could starve themselves or fudge the numbers and win. Those who did the weekly check ins, did the 4 camps a week, and followed protein goals did not have a fighting chance. If we had known that the sole statistic used to determine prize winners was % of body fat percentage lost, without anything else in place, we would not have paid to do this challenge. It was unethical to have a paid challenge for cash prizes without clearly defined criteria, released prior to sign up, on what it would take to win, so participants could make an educated decision on whether it would make sense for them to sign up. There were clearly errors made in the calculations on the midway check in, I believe that those errors carried over to the final results, as the percentage of body fat lost claimed by the top 10, especially the top 5, are questionable (losing 22.5% of your body fat in 6 weeks is an insane amount no matter your size and extremely unlikely/unhealthy.) It is my belief that this challenge was hyped up and promoted in an intentionally vague manner in order to get more people to sign up for it as a cash grab, which it was clearly very successful at doing based on the amount of participants we saw in the beginning. Utilizing a single criterion that has an extremely lower difficulty level for people who are already small isn't a good look, and I would be willing to bet that a lot of others would have not signed up if they knew that it was a one-sided competition that favored people who were already fit. When owner was talked to about it, she doubled down on her being a fitness professional and implied (not in these exact words) that we were just sore losers. We never cared about winning but wanted a fair chance, which we didn't get. We spent $320 a month to attend Burn, bought merch and supplements, and participated in challenges like the Level Up games, but since her takeover, we have never felt wanted as we are not skinny and fit like others. Day one with Burn it felt that we were there to get in shape and meet or exceed goals when now, since the change in owners, it feels as if there has been a shift priorities. It feels less inclusive.

He did an assessment and helped me gradually ramp up. He specifically tailored my training regimen to account for a few old and major injuries I had (right shoulder surgery for 3rd degree A/C separation and femoral rod placement in my left leg, and a mesh placement for an abdominal hernia), my age and fitness level at that time. I was a big cardio guy so his practice of warming up with cardio before moving to strength training suited me well. I worked my way up to doing cardio 6 days a week (3 days of stationary bike and 3 days running) and weight training 3 days a week, making sure to rest one day a week. I am happy to announce that I just finished my first 10k race in 4 years, and I have to give Travis and Fitness MD a lot of credit for helping me get ready for that without injuring myself! I finished 32nd overall in the race and 4th in the 50-59 age group. I logged my best time in a long time, so overall I'm extremely happy with the results! They'll tell you that I was the one that did the work, but I feel I wouldn't have gotten here without their planning and guidance! I'm extremely grateful to both Travis and Fitness MD! Highly recommend!

One thing that impressed me immediately was her professionalism, so I was thrilled to focus on fitness and leave politics and religion at the door. Another thing is her amazing ability to reading clients' limits and abilities -- she was always challenging me, but was adaptable about it so I never felt like I was getting killed at the gym. I've never had an injury under her direction, and I trusted her completely when she pushed me. When you work with Audra, you're working with an expert on the science of fitness and nutrition. Over the years in SF, I'd work with trainers when I got bored with my routine and didn't meet my goals, but Audra was by far the most knowledgeable trainer I'd ever worked with. This was the first time I'd ever worked online with a trainer, but she has a way of keeping you really accountable with an amazing app and gentle email reminders about checking in for a workout. It has videos that teach the specific exercises she designs for you. Outside the app, she gave me feedback on my diet after telling her about my doctor's concerns such as anemia. I highly recommend Audra -- you too will be impressed by how passionate she is about training her clients and by how she cares about helping them meet their goals!

I really wanted to gain confidence in a gym setting so I reached out to David. I called and we set up a meeting to discuss goals and expectations at his facility. When I arrived I was so nervous! He was so nice and patient with my axiety and everything went well. I started the sessions and I quickly gained confidence being in a gym environment. Every person that walks through the doors are so nice, supportive and respectful of each other. It is a group setting, but everyone has their own goals. He writes personalized exercises on a whiteboard and works with each person individually. No one is doing the same exercises as anyone else nor do you do the same exercise each visit. David demonstrates the exercise and ensures proper form. He explains what the target areas are and what you should be feeling. He also rotates from person to person to give you time to do your thing but keeps checking on you to make sure everything is going okay. He does include tension releasing techniques/exercise's which is a huge plus if you have tension or pain in any areas. Bonus: He provided two meal plans. All in all, great experience!

I toured…read morethree different locations and settled on Roseville even though it was further away from my home, because the childcare space was bright, clean and the staff are so friendly. There are always plenty of staff in the childcare for both big kids and babies. I immediately took advantage of the free personal training session on my first visit. I worked with Liz. I clicked with her right away because she specifically cared about MY goals for my fitness. I wanted to turn my health around so that I could increase my healthy lifespan with my two kids. I just had a baby at 40 and was very overweight and incapable of many physical functions that I consider important. In my first month working out with Liz, I gained 6 pounds of muscle and lost 8 pounds of fat. I felt physically strong and capable, but also mentally strong because I was confronting something embarrassing for myself but pushing through. After some months I switched to other trainers because Liz is actually the training boss lol. I had been spoiled... but I was very happy with Eric and Alex who taught me new exercises and were just as knowledgeable and caring as Liz. I stuck with Alex for the rest of my time at In-Shape Roseville. He always estimated my ability just right. He would never give me more than I could do, but also not less. I pushed it every single session and got stronger and stronger. Every session was packed with activity and I felt like my time (and money) was being fully valued. From the moment I would walk into the gym until I left, I was making a huge impact on my health and future. Over six or seven months, I spent between two and six hours at the gym every week. I know for certain that putting in that time gained me years with my kids down the road. Unfortunately I moved out of county and have switched to a new local gym, but I now have a knowledge and skill set to continue on my own. It's no overstatement to say In Shape Roseville changed or even saved my life. Every staff member helped me. Also, every member is nice. There's no awkwardness or feeling fat there. Everyone is super nice and down to earth, all ages and all body types. Special thanks to Carmen, James, Nayel, Eric, the beautiful lady trainer that moved to Nevada and Raymund. Especially for Liz and Alex, I know that I will achieve my fitness goals and live a long healthy life with my family from what you taught me and what you enabled me to prove to myself.

We came on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty quiet. There's been a bit of improvements/changes including adding that new weights pulling rug area, and the removable of the 2 walls that used to be there. I did a bunch of lifting with free weights and worked out with my wife, and the kids rode spin bikes. We all had a good time. This is a pretty good location, especially when it's quiet and we almost have the whole place to ourselves. One star knocked off for the water that was lukewarm and even cold at times while I was showering. Not sure why it was inconsistent and not hot.
