My only gripe is they insist on giving you a silk robe - which would be fine and dandy and add to the 'luxurious' experience - except they're all 'one size fits all' and it's incredibly awkward, unpleasant, and downright embarrassing to drag around a robe that does not close because it is too small. Buy some bigger sizes. It's already murder for some of us to stare into giant floor length mirrors the whole time, but it's 10xs when you have to stare at the robe that won't close and the belt that's dragging on the ground - cut us fat girls some slack.

Zero texture to the cut and looks absolutely nothing like what I asked for. Now to see if I have to shave it or if I can go elsewhere to try to salvage it. So glad I paid for services that weren't provided correctly and now I get to pay to try and fix it I don't even want to show up to work on Monday with my hair looking like this. I'm so disappointed. I am generally pretty low maintenance (aka cheap) when it comes to my hair. I needed a boost for fall though, so I scheduled my appointment. I was paired up with Sidney, a new stylist at the salon. I came into the appointment a hot mess - I had literally just gotten dumped via a phone call - so upon meeting me I was a crying, snotty mess. I explained what was going on, and she gave me a moment to pull myself together. She was very patient and kind, and agreed to not do anything too drastic to my hair (aka bangs or shave my head). She took her time to make sure I got what I wanted for my hair - and it turned out beautifully! And over the years, I have followed her from salon to salon, and I am elated now that she has opened her own little shop! You might wonder why I would be willing to follow a stylist from Cass Corridor to the burbs to Corktown and now to Grosse Pointe. And my explanation would be this: Avis is an incredible stylist. She's worth the drive. Granted, I've always had bobs or medium length hair, but I've seen her give awesome short cuts and fades, and beautiful long cuts too. She does it all. I trust her implicitly. I trusted her to give me baby bangs- even if you have no idea what that means, know that means I trust her a lot. Although I've never personally had Avis color my hair (I've never had anyone color my hair), I know that she's incredible. Check out her social media- I've been tempted to take the plunge more than once. Avis really cares about the products she uses and sells in her salon, and has taken a lot of effort to do her research. As someone who also cares about what I put on my hair and skin (and has a few allergies), I really appreciate how much thought she's put into her products. I also appreciate the convenient online appointment scheduling. Once you select the services you want (and you can add several)- it shows you her availability based on the amount of time your services require. You get a confirmation, and it's super easy to reschedule if necessary. I'm proud of Avis for taking the plunge to open her own shop.

I had a good experience with her straightening my hair before so I went back. I thought she was a good person who just messed up until instead of owning her mistake, she tried to lie, cheat and gaslight her way out of it. Instead of doing a good job on my hair she edited a photo to make it look like she did as an excuse not to refund me any money. If she would have told me I can't do what you want but I can give you regular highlights, I would have said no thank you and left. I NEVER expected her to fabricate a photo to skirt culpability. She sold her integrity for $365 and revealed herself to be an untrustworthy person with weak character and morals. The owner is going to comment about how the lighting in the salon made my hair look like that but Irene, you need to stop gaslighting me. I was in your salon under the same lighting that the (edited) photo was taken in and my hair looked nothing like it. Otherwise I would have left happy and been upset later. And that's not what happened is it? Stop gaslighting me. But if you're sticking to that then who wants to go to a salon that makes their hair look COMPLETELY different from what you went there for as soon as you walk outside? This all could have been solved so easily if Melissa said I'm so sorry, I misunderstood what you wanted and did something completely different--instead of doubling down on her lies and getting the owner to co-sign them. A little accountability from two adult women is not too much to ask for. Edit: Irene, you did not offer to fix my hair for free, you offered to re-tone it. Toner will not make my hair lighter and you know that. Also, Irene, you took the photo of my hair outside. How are you going to say it's just the lighting? I contacted Irene and said I would take my reviews down--all she has to do is retake the photo in the salon lighting and show me that I'm wrong. That the photo isn't edited. Instead of taking two seconds to do that, she blocked me. Looks like accountability is not in the cards for her.
