After a long search for a stable, reliable water store that provides alkaline water, I finally found one.

But once I reviewed the pricing afterward, I realized I had paid far more than what's typical in the market. The pricing for the RO systems in particular doesn't add up. The standard 5-stage RO system is available at $349, while the 6-stage "alkaline" version is $899 -- a $550 increase. The only difference appears to be a single alkaline filter sold separately on their website for $175. That kind of markup for one component simply doesn't make sense, and it's hard not to feel that customers who want "alkaline water" are being charged a premium without understanding the actual cost breakdown. I also noticed a discrepancy in what is advertised versus what was installed when I got replacement filters. The website promotes a Biocera NSF-certified alkaline filter, but the replacement I received was a house-brand filter that does not appear to be NSF certified. Additionally, while the RO system uses NSF-listed parts, the complete system itself is not NSF certified, which raises concern considering the availability of fully certified systems at lower prices. The shower filter I purchased was another issue. I was told it would remove chlorine from LA's water, but LA primarily uses chloramines, which this type of filter doesn't address. In addition, the filter was priced at roughly five times its typical market value. Then came the replacement filters: I was charged $515, which is more than the cost of many brand-new, fully NSF-certified RO systems. I also noticed that the pricing I paid didn't fully match the company's own website -- I ended up paying about $100 more than what was listed for the same items. Overall, while the installation was clean and the owner was pleasant to work with, the pricing structure and lack of full system certification left me disappointed. I regret not researching the market more beforehand and hope this helps other customers make a more informed decision.

Now I am finding out for myself that it is just as any other market where in this economy, it benefits for me to research online for sales and weekly ads. One of things I realized is that I was sleeping on their coffee bar! This Whole Foods is surrounded by many restaurants, trending eateries and coffee shops that it is easy to overlook what Whole Foods can offer. The staff working at the coffee and juice bar are amazing! My current favorite is the berry chantilly iced latte. The honey latte and the brown sugar cookie latte are both very good but the berry chantilly is my current favorite. It is strong, not-too-sweet and well made for $5 and that is for a large. You can also have alternative milk like almond or oat at no extra charge! The deli and bakery are also great but I have been getting their pizza slices for an inexpensive lunch. Where nearby pizza spots are selling their slices for $7-$8 a slice (which I get why it is priced that way), Whole Foods has them at the self serve area for one slice at $4.50 or 2 for $8. I work near the area and though I love that I am in foodie heaven, sometimes I just need something a bit more simple and reasonably priced. Whole Foods pizza can be artisanal just as any other pizzerias. This week, they had elote pizza and it reminds me of the viral elote pizza that was invented by Rose City Pizza. It is pretty good and definitely closer to me than Covina.
