We stayed here for two days during a storm induced power outage. Best of all, it was all during Thanksgiving. The hotel itself is very simple. Bedding is old school, but comfortable and warm. It has seen its better days, but again it's what you would expect at a simple hotel. Towels are plenty, and they are very efficient and making sure you have all you need. Our fridge was not working during our stay, and they promptly brought another one right away. We had a pet also. They were again friendly and understanding during the whole stay. Breakfast had a variety of foods including potatoes, biscuits and gravy, pastries, bagels, mini muffins and toast. There was also yogurt and fruit. The cable TV is well...horrible, because cable is just terrible anyways. But they have Wi-fi, therefore you can bring your own entertainment. If you stay here, I would also consider making sure that you leave everything as nice as you've found because they have a small, but very respectful staff that works as a team and does everything and anything to keep the hotel running smoothly. So by leaving things nicely you will help them out too.

There is a snowmobile trail that used to be a road but not any longer. There is a sign for snowmobiling route however, it's back off the path and usually behind a snowbank. When we got stuck there, the tow truck driver said that he got a text from the snowmobile grommet that he was sending business his way. It was $125 to pull us all of 35 feet. We saw 3 other vehicles do the same thing. If you don't want to get stuck, use the driveway in front of Taco Bell. The hotel also doesn't enforce the trucks that are pulling trailers for snowmobiles, be parked in the trailer parking lot and those trailers take up 5-6 parking spaces.

They even followed up with a text message to make sure we were enjoying our stay. The restaurant on site was quite pricy. I did not try the coffee shop that brewed their own local coffee. Our room was recently renovated. It was perfect for us since we parked right outside the door. It was tastefully decorated with scenes of Michigan's natural beauty. Our room preference (high floor/ end room) was granted - much to my husband's dismay... as he was carrying the tour back to the furthest possible point from check- eek. (We did move the bike to the other end for check-out & he was in a much better mood after that shorter trek.) The rooms were noted as renovated a few years ago. Had I not known going in, I'd have guessed 80s (as the hubby did when I asked him to date the last update). The ceiling is concrete & painted mauve, making for (much appreciated) serious noise reduction & perhaps a bit of a hospital or prison feel, if you will. The walls are a light gray, as is the furniture. The artwork (3 pictures) was oddly small (8x10) & hung oddly. They furnishings were, perhaps, excessive. To open up the space & reduce the crammed in strangely look, I'd suggest removing a couple of things. There was a wall shelf/ TV holder. Under that was a desk, literally pushed under, as was dresser. It looked as if the furniture was pushed back for cleaning, stacking it up. There was also a wardrobe, chair & table that slides over the chair (think tv tray). The room was exceprionally clean & in excellent condition. It was 3/4 bath with a large shower - no tub. The bed was comfortable & temperature control worked well. The pool & sauna are not to be missed! The location is great for accessing assorted things to do. All in all a very good stay. We simply have a different taste than the decorator did, apparently. We are platinum with IHG & booked directly, without using points.
