I really liked that Blossom did not have me fill out endless paperwork without meeting my potential adoptee and were more focused on ensuring the fit between pet and human was ideal before moving forward. Although they are located in Grass Valley, CA, they regularly bring the animals to Santa Rosa, CA to meet with interested parties. The only reason I did not end up adopting through Blossom is because a local adoption fell through and Blossom encouraged me to check the local adoption first before making the 3 hour drive to Grass Valley. I helped out at their place for a long weekend and even over that time, it was amazing to see the progress that their new rescues made. The youngest puppy went from cowering and lashing out to fully playing with the other dogs under Ian and Amy's guidance. I could not recommend adopting from them highly enough. You can also be confident in your choice since the Spandows know their rescues so well. They will walk you through the dogs' personality, temperament, and fit with your home. I've always been an avid lover of all animals, especially dogs, so when my doctor recommended I consider looking into service pups or one I can train to my needs, I was beyond excited and nervous. I wasn't actively looking too hard when I came across a posting for Little Ziggy and said "hey, why not inquire about him?" After an initial telephone conversation with Ian where we discussed Ziggy, another beautiful shepherd River and my needs, he invited me up to their beautiful home to meet "the pack". Upon arriving, I met River and Ziggy, both absolutely beautiful smart dogs, but something just wasn't quite right. Amy then brings out the most gorgeous girl I've ever seen, then known as Sally. I felt a connection almost immediately and after spending time with her and hearing her back story, said I'd be back in a few days to hang out again. On my hour and a half drive home, I couldn't stop thinking about her. There was just something in her eyes that made me realize this was my girl. As long as Amy and Ian would allow, I wanted her to be my companion for life. I headed up Friday and the connection was still there!! We made up our minds I would come pick her up on Sunday morning and start our life together, seeing how she'd mesh with my little indoor farm of two bunnies and two kitties. She jumped right into my car on Sunday like "you're not leaving me again lady!!" As soon as we got to my house, she made herself at home and made quick friends with Grimm, my two year old tuxedo cat. I cannot wait to see how her personality unfolds day after day! I cannot thank Spandow House enough. Everywhere we went, especially in Carmel, strangers would come up to ask what kind of dog he was and remark about how adorable he was. We had to let him go yesterday at 17 and 1/2 years old. He was generally very healthy his whole life. Mary is a fantastic Havanese breeder in my book and after some time, I'll probably contact her again for my next doggie.

I'm still trying to teach him how to roll over to the left as he knows only how to roll on the right. He's brought lots of love and joy to our family and my wife loves him so much. He takes away all our worries and he loves us so much in return. He sometimes thinks he's a cat when he walks on the top edge of our couch. He's a great guard dog but he likes certain dogs and barks at the ones he doesn't like through our security door whenever they walk by our home. He doesn't have that nasty dog smell and is so clean smelling and hypoallergenic.

We sent our 1 year old lab "Beau" to hightest for their 6 weeks obedience training program. We had…read morea neighbor who highly recommended them to us (their dog was in their hunting program). We were easily able to coordinate Beau's pick up and drop off date with Teal over email and phone calls. We live about 3 hours away, but all the drives to see his training were worth it. In the 6 week program there are a list of basic commands that they will train, but I loved that the trainers took the time to listen/note the specific concerns we had for Beau. Our main concerns were jumping when greeting people, staying on place, and off leash recall. Beau's first week at Hightest was an adjustment for him. Our usually highly food motivated Beau began to refuse to eat. Hightest immediately notified us, and explained how this typically happens after a dogs owner leaves, but that they were giving him different food to encourage him to eat again. He continued to go on a hunger strike, but hightest continually keep in touch, gave him weight gainer, and weighed him consistently to make sure he didn't drop any lbs. Though our first training session was two weeks away, they invited and encouraged us to come visit him after the first week. We got to see what he was working on, and he began to eat again! The training sessions included in the 6 week program were amazing. Jenna was our trainer for two of the sessions and she is AMAZING! She was very knowledgeable about dog training and knew all of Beau's quirks. She is also great at explaining their training techniques and teaching owners how to properly handle their dog. You can tell each person who works there knows each dog well, and loves what they do! After our first training session I was confident that Beau was in great care with the trainers and staff! Great things about hightest: everyone who works there is super friendly, it is extremely clean, climate controlled for the dogs, you can text or call at anytime for updates, private property so parking is no issue. Beau has now been home for about 2 weeks and it has made a world of a difference. He can walk in heel and doesn't pull on walks (he was a crazy puller), no longer jumps to great people, assumed sit and down, place for long periods of time, and can be recalled off leash. We can now eat dinner and watch tv with him by our side. Though he is now well trained, he still has his silly, goofy , lovable personality. We will definitely come back if we ever go out of town or want to do an extra training refresh!! Overall, I can't recommend hightest enough! If you have been thinking about sending your dog to training -do it! It's the best investment we have made for him.
