Have been to this neighborhood place a couple times. Not sure how I feel about it - - mainly because the menu isn't the most exciting for my gluten free dairy free diet. And don't love their tequila selection. We sat at the bar and the bartender was super friendly and helpful. Shrimp cocktail was very good, we ordered 2. Fried, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts were tasty. It's street parking around there and can be tricky.

Curiosity brought us to Wonderly. Sweet spot to chill with a date ~ low lit, relaxed after dinner cocktails. Not much seating and fills up quick. Not advisable for groups. The small bites were tasty and presented well. Cocktails need a little work ~ too much ice for the price. Service was straight faced poised, prompt with the order. Ahem ~ auto 20% gratuity :/

Had a great meal in a great chill place. The bartender and servers are super friendly and know how to craft a terrific drink. The food is yummy comfort food. The fried cheese curds are to die for. Burgers and the chicken sandwich are refined and way above fast food options.

I love this bar. On a warm day, you can have a boozy slushie in the parklet. On a cold, rainy day, you can nurse an old fashioned in the warm, indoor bar! Super friendly staff. A wine list that showcases women wine makers. Just great.

Wonderly is a great cocktail bar with a few odd quirks, crammed together next to several other fantastic restaurants (BangBang, Dirty Lettice and Amalfi's) in what is quickly becoming one of our favorite parts of PDX: the Fremont/Beaumont area. Sadly, during all of our visits here, we've been racing against the clock in one form or another, so our experiences have been simply grabbing a quick drink and/or appetizer before jetting off to wherever else we're expected to be. This means we haven't been able to properly vet just about anything on the menu, and that's a shame, because everything that comes out of their kitchen looks incredible. What I can tell you about, however, is the friendliness of the servers (although they seem go MIA, or become easily distracted, on occasion), the quality of the cocktails (a little on the expensive side), the cute interior décor and excellent patio space, and the ease of which we've been able to grab a table, as well as check out and get moving in a hurry, when need be. Our last visit had me ordering my stand-by, and Old Fashioned (incredibly smooth and easy to sip!), a soda water with lime, and a shrimp cocktail. The latter of the three took longer than expected to arrive, and seemed a bit on the small side for $10, but the quality of the shrimp was excellent. Being in a hurry, our server Alex accommodated us well enough, allowing us to pay the bill ahead of time, with the only delay being the aforementioned time it took for the appetizer to arrive. Heads up, though: a 20% gratuity is included on all dine-in orders; if this is mentioned on the menu, I didn't see it ahead of time. Thankfully, Alex helpfully pointed it out by circling it on our receipt, so we would not accidentally double-tip (which we did anyway). Nitpicks aside, Wonderly is a place to which we keep returning, to enjoy a casual drink and enjoy the ambiance, inside and out. It's a cute, cozy place to nestle into on a rainy evening, or take in some sun while sipping a cocktail on the outdoor patio. We'll keep coming back, and hopefully not in a hurry next time, so we can properly dive into that menu! That sounds just Wonder(ful)ly to me!

Happy hour Margarita, happy hour "Whiskey Drink," and "Mommy's Thyme Out" plus a side of olives

I stopped by Wonderly for a second round of drinks with friends the other night. The staff caught us browsing the menu on the street sign, and invited us to sit down. They were friendly and attentive, bringing waters promptly and pointing out that happy hour was still in effect. Menus were given via QR code and ordering was done at the bar so they easily could have left us to our own devices. There's a lovely street patio and the indoor space is distanced and dimly lit for a great date night. Unfortunately, the drinks were a miss for us. Full price drinks are in the $11-15 range, while happy hour drinks from 5-6pm are closer to $7. My friend went with the happy hour margarita, which came with a nice helping of salt and some kind of spice on the side of the half-cup rather than the rim for easy consumption. My partner got the "Whiskey Drink" from the happy hour menu as well; it had some kind of cherry liquer that was overly strong. I got the full price thyme-based drink which I found underwhelming to slightly unpleasant. So, overall, the staff and atmosphere made this place. I'd be open to giving the drinks another shot at a future happy hour.

difficult to eat cleanly, but very good

I've been back a number of times since my initial lengthy review. The whiskey drink on happy hour is a good deal. However, the HH food selection is very weak. So if you're hungry, olives, bread and butter, or a shrimp cocktail might not suffice. You'll need to order off the regular menu, but everything I've tried has been above average. The crowd is mixed, definitely a higher calibre. Lots of retirees, Tommy Bahama shirts, people detailing their vacations. Staff has been polite to friendly, never anything less. I enjoyed the Cobb salad, I love it when they use frisée, but wish they would mix all the ingredients. Wonderly is good for the neighborhood.

You would see that it's going to a motel, you would think to add the silverware. Fortunately, I was able to get silverware from my motel's breakfast room. The lumpia were very good. They were not greasy at all. They are smaller than standard eggrolls, but because they use more meat and less veggies than your standard eggroll, they pack a lot more flavor. Everything inside was seasoned well, and I really enjoyed them. They came with a vinegar based dipping sauce that I liked The "garlic Ponzu" salmon poke? No, not nearly as good. For the price they were charging, it was not a very big portion. Besides that, it just wasn't that good. A good salmon is normally pink to orange. This salmon was barely pink. I couldn't taste the garlic or the Ponzu at all. The veggies were crisp, the rice was a good quality, but there was just no seasoning. The salmon was very bland. I didn't know if it was just because of the seasoning, maybe they used a low quality or a previously, frozen salmon. I love good salmon. This was not good salmon. For the price I paid, not counting the DoorDash fees because those are added in anyway, I just felt I didn't get my moneys worth. Next time I'm in the area, I will find another place. Thanks anyway.

We were warmly greeted, seated in a booth, and promptly served a basket of crispy tortilla chips and homemade salsa. The family-friendly atmosphere had a cozy neighborhood destination vibe. We shared a carne asada platter with a chile relleno and taco al pastor. The carne asada was amazing! Generous portion of grilled meat that was perfectly seasoned. All the sides you would want...guac, pico de gallo, sour cream, grilled scallion and jalapeño, rice, beans cheese plus your choice of tortillas to wrap it all up in. The chile relleno had lots of melty cheese and was thinly battered, just my style. So much yummy food, plenty for two. We had grapefruit Jaritos and n/a Corona but the margaritas look to be very popular, we even saw several huge ones with two straws being shared. Cannot comment on dessert, not enough room. We will definitely be back. Perfect pre-theater dinner and looks to be a great spot for family dining. We'll be back!!

Chips and salsa were both weak. Most restaurants at least heat/refry the chips. The Chile Relleno is the eggy batter kind, with low-end chile like you'd find in a can. If this is the only familiar style of chili relleno then do yourself a favor and try the version at Salsas Locas in Southeast. Now that's something to brag about. The lunch special taco is only available in hard shell with a limited choice of ground beef (yuck), chicken or bean and cheese. The whole thing is topped with shredded iceberg lettuce (double yuck) then drowned in old school ranchero sauce with gobs of cheese. Very 1980s like. That said, the soft taco with carnitas was very good! So it seems like they have a mishmash of gringo Mexican and some authentic dishes. The interior is very inviting while the service was friendly and fast. Only saw Mexican staff and Mexican customers, a good thing. One and done for me, but many will enjoy this type of venue.
