I give Wonder Works a 4 with a word of caution: its great if you like science themed attractions. Its pretty much an interactive science museum. I read a couple of reviews that complained about crowds. This is a tourist town. You are likely to find a crowd pretty much everywhere you go. If you're like me and like to read EVERYTHING then be proactive and go as soon as it opens. A lot less people. Especially on a Sunday. Its worth it. My whole family had a ball. read more

We went here on a Tuesday during off season. The weather in Myrtle Beach had been rainy, so we needed an indoor activity. My son is nearly 14, so I worried about him being bored. We had a great time. It was a little pricey, but there was lots to do, and there were no lines for anything. I'm not sure I would go during prime season. We all enjoyed the ropes course the most, and spent the bulk of our time walking around on the obstacles. We had a good time playing laser tag as well. The other exhibits were good, too. Especially the Tesla coil, the bed of nails, and the flight simulators. My son did one where he pedaled to make himself go upside down over a bar. 3 adults who went there today and had a blast! Lots of games and activities. Spent 3 hours inside. Did not pay extra for outdoor zip line. Would have been 5 stars but some of the games were broken. WonderWorks is a blast. My wife and I experienced 84 mph winds, electricity shot from my hand, I pedaled a bike upside down, and attempted to land a space shuttle on a runway. There was also a bed of nails and some cool roller coaster simulations, and a boatload more. It was a little pricy at $24 bucks a person for general admission... I couldn't justify more just for a rope course. On the other hand, the place was crowded and the line moved at half a snails pace. It was very unique... Nowhere else compares, but be ready to spend money and wait forever in lines for 3 or 4 minutes of fun. It's worth checking out, but manage your expectations. read more

Great Attraction for a Rainy Day at the Beach We decided to go to Wonder Works because it was raining and we couldn't go to the beach. I did think it was a bit expensive, the reason for my 4 stars as opposed to 5. The attractions that they have is great for both young and old. I have a 7 yr old and 10 yr old and both enjoyed it. Our children had an amazing time. Almost every exhibit was the same as the WonderWorks in Gatlinburg, which excited the older children. The first timers in our group were shown the way by the older ones. In the future the company should invest in larger capacity virtual coasters and more climbing activities. All in all, if you go to celebrity circle, spend your time at this attraction. Skip the aquarium. read more

My family and I came here on a Tuesday and it was extremely busy. Yes I understand it's summer and it will be busy but they do not utilize the space well. As you go through the exhibit part it is very crowded and hard to use any of the attractions. Everything was a 45- hour wait which made it not enjoyable. Had a blast! Had a Groupon for 4 adults to go (ages 22-65) and we all enjoyed it! Nobody there being a random Thursday in December, which was perfect! Interactive activities that everyone can enjoy. The 6D movie was really fun. I highly recommend coming here for a couple hours of fun! read more

$80 for 2 adults and 2 kids. Very overpriced. Place was packed from wall to wall with people butting in lines and arguing with each other. Waited over 45 minutes in line for the 3d simulator and skipped the ropes because the lines were so long. I tried to let my kids do the soccer simulator and we waited 15 minutes in line because a woman kept letting her kids go over and over. Finally just bit the $80 bullet and left because it was so frustrating of a place. The kicker was that we also waited 45 minutes just to get in. Don't waste your time or money. read more

The place is good with kids but adults not really. The service is okay but their not really kid friendly. You cant really go their more than once but the first time is cool. You should be 8 or older because some of the rides have a height requirement. The lines are really long so you should have like 3 hours to spare. It depends what your kids like so you may want to ask because its really science and sports. The price is a little expensive some of the rides are closed some of the time. read more

UPDATE: I still would avoid but I thought I should update that I did call the morning after my visit and complained and after a lot of insisting and arguing did get a total refund. My rating still stays the same though as they denied that any of their attractions were broken and said that there was a sign posted of height restrictions. The only signs said that "some of the rides may have height restrictions" not which ones and I assumed a movie theater wouldn't. Also, they claimed there was a sign outside the movie theater attraction with a height restriction and there was not. Only one that said not to ride with certain medical conditions or under the influence of alcohol/drugs. I had to be told by the operator that she couldn't go in due to the movement, never mentioning a height restriction. Also, the guide I paid $4 for did not say there were restrictions anywhere in it. If you do go don't bother buying it, it was useless and explained less than the actual signs inside. I mentioned their poor ratings on here and they said they thoroughly review them and that the bad reviews are from people that don't know how to use the attractions. So don't expect them to care about your review or complaints unless you call (and even then they'll deny any responsibility) or complain while you are there. Initial Review: I would give zero stars if I could. I went today with my daughter (2.5) and boyfriend and it was atrocious. This is March, not tourist season, and it was packed full. I was constantly bumped into by running kids and adults not paying attention. It was uncomfortably and unnecessarily loud. Every "attraction" was either really stupid (a hurricane simulator was simply just air blowing at your face like a semistrong hair dryer or didn't work (most just didn't work). The more popular things had huge lines and children cutting so it would be impossible to even get to those. I was informed after paying the $70 for us to get in that my daughter wasn't allowed into the 6D movie theater (could have displayed that on the website or told us before entrance) which was the main reason we wanted to go. We could also not use the laser tag or ropes course because my daughter was not allowed. We paid $70 for 15 minutes of being shoved around and being bombarded with annoying sound and trying to use "attractions" that didn't work and also I might add didn't have directions. Avoid at all costs! I can't imagine how much worse it is during peak tourist season. Wonder works: fix the design, maintain your attractions, have a monitor on the floor, and be honest about what to expect. Oh and don't charge $4 for a map that I just paid $70 to get into. This place is a HUGE RIP OFF and should be reported. I want my money back. read more

We couldn't believe how they packed so many things to do in this building. It was loads of fun. We went the day after Christmas and there was a small crowd. It took us about 4 hours to go thru the whole thing and we never had to wait in line. There is just so much to do that you'll stay busy the whole time. read more

Waste of time and money. I had high hopes when we walked in and with all the hype and the building outside and all. But just an utter disappointment. I'm even going to write and ask for my $$ back. Some of the "rides" weren't even working. Long lines and noises made it impossible to do anything in the building. Back home in Cleveland they had a science museum for kids that are amazing and the prices are small in comparison. The laser tag was lame. The kids who worked there needed to take an exhibit on social skills and hygiene. Save your $ and find something else to do when it's rainy or when the kids are demanding to go through it. This place was just alright in my experience. First of all it was PACKED and I mean PACKED. The line to get your tickets was outside and all the down the boardwalk. Once we got in all of the exhibits were really cool, don't get me wrong. The place was overly crowded so I only got to do like two things. The price of admission is ridiculous. We even got a $20 discount via my Entertainment Book coupon ($5 off x 4 people) and I still feel we paid entirely too much. We'd noticed the Wonderworks building in TN and put it on our bucket list for the next vacation that we would be close to another one. While I can cross it off, I feel no less cheated. The attractions were amusing and entertaining...the ones we were able to see. The lines were horrendously long. We went through twice. The first time was in the morning. We decided to eat lunch and come back in hopes some of the school groups would have cleared out. Boy, were we wrong! I finally look at their glorified brochure ($4) during our break and realized that somewhere in the chaos, we missed what would be most entertaining for our 2 y.o. Tucked away on the fourth floor is an area that is great for the little ones that have had to sit and watch their older siblings play for the majority of the trip. In WW'S defense, we were not charged for the 2 y.o. Our cost for general admission for 2 adults, 2 children plus the overpriced brochure was around $77. Mind you, that's after a $20 discount. To charge adults $27 is a scam. There is nothing for parents to do except watch their child participate in LIMITED areas. They do this (and CAN do this) because it's a tourist area and people will just pay the price. Here's a tip- go anywhere else! Last time we went, with the limited areas for a 5 year old, we were done in under 2 hours. For the price we paid, we should have went to a movie and lunch.
