So much so that when we found that campground booked for the summer we took the advice of a co worker and stayed at Fantasy Island nearby. If you're looking for a simple, affordable, fun for the kids camping retreat this is your spot. Located right on the Susquehanna the (seasonal) riverfront spots had their own boat slips. The rest of the campground wasn't wooded in the least which I appreciated, but the sites were pretty tight. Each site had a concrete patio and full hook up including cable and wifi - although I was unable to connect to the wifi (hubby did though). At only $42/night in the prime season the price couldn't be beat! The campground was small and simple with one bathhouse. It wasn't horrible but there were some critters. It was equipped with a table/chairs in front of a mirror for a makeshift vanity area to do your makeup separate from the sink. That was a smart touch. They also rented out one cabin. I didn't see any areas for tents. There were about 100 camp sites. They also had a playground and volleyball net. I was told that usually a food truck parks inside the premises. The store was small but did sell the essentials at a very good price. Imagine my surprise when I ran out of suntan lotion and picked up a full size tube of a kid formula spf 50 for only $2!!!! The dollar store costs more than that! They also had ice cream novelties ranging in price from .35 cents to a max of $2, flip flops and floaties were only a buck. They did close early at 7pm, but the attached rec room/gathering place/arcade combo was open at all hours. I noticed in the rec room they had bikes/scooters you could rent (we didn't inquire) as well as books. There was a big screen tv with dvd as well as a huge, comfortable leather sectional sofa. You could watch your movies there but they didn't supply dvds. A pool was present complete with a limited number of loungers and covered tables ranging in depth from 3-5'. It was so relaxing on the hottest weekend of the season and usually full of campers. The weekend of our stay was Christmas in July and they went all out. If you signed up your kids at the store Santa called their name and they got a baggie of goodies. The rec area was all decked out for the holidays complete with the tv set on a fireplace mood, complete with crackle noise effects. Several of the campers did elaborate Christmas displays. When I say this campground is simple, it isn't an insult. It's just enough stuff to unwind and have kids get back to being kids; playing on the equipment, swimming in the pool, and playing with other kids. While I do wish they had more activities scheduled, it was nice to just take it easy and let the kids play without a lot of shuffling around to make sure we do and see everything. They did have a potluck dinner the one night which we really enjoyed. The manager was super friendly and involved as were our neighbors who were all seasonal. Guests are free ($3 for pool use - get wrist band at store) and can stay till 10 pm, wish I knew that in advance as we would have had some friends come up for the day. From talking with the seasonals a spot is $1900 per season which runs April 15-Oct 15. At that time you must remove and dismantle your campsite (sheds, rocks, garden, outdoor décor, etc) as township doesn't allow campers to be kept there all year. You can get your same site back if you prefer. They do not rent golf carts. No dogs allowed in any of the buildings, pool area, and playground. As a non dog person I really appreciated that! Overall a very nice, clean, vintage feeling campground, one will we most likely return to when we want some downtime.

Plenty to see and do in rural central PA. Convent to many state parks, streams, and caves. Lots of great local eateries and creameries nearby. Careful of the buggies. Campground and Roads are well kept, with many long-term sites. Friendly campers this place is beyond quiet. I couldn't see any lights close by after 9pm. Campground water with grey and black water facilities. Bring bug spray. Haha.

The staff in the office is like the worst staff from the worst diner with the worst pay. Super unfriendly after admitting to infestation and zero offers to return money even after we went to doctors and had to call an exterminator for the first time ever in our home. You are better off camping in the worst village in Mexico with no tent, shelter, blankets, etc than wasting money here-STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!

We camped there twice this summer and had enjoyable visits. The road leading to the campground is narrow and winding, but we didn't experience any trouble. Check in was a breeze as all the paperwork and payment were taken care of prior to arrival and all we needed to do was pick up our gate pass, map and head to the site. The employees in the front office are amazing and some of the friendliest you will meet. The other employees we interacted with during our stays were equally as friendly and helpful! Overall the sites are good sized, level and the majority have full hook-ups. The water pressure is good, electric stable, and good cable TV connections. There is no internet at the sites and only a moderate cell phone signal. Most of the transient sites are right next to each other with little barriers between. Tubs of wood can be delivered to the site and this good quality firewood! For $10 a load, stock up because it burns well with little obnoxious smoke. There are various activities each weekend during the summer, a huge pool, playground, mini-golf, and of course Penn's Creek to float. The one negative would be some of the seasonal sites do not feel the quiet hour times apply to them. Overall, Little Mexico is a nice campground in a beautiful location, with great people operating it!

I had never stood in a cabin before, I was expecting "rough conditions" I just didn't expect them to be this rough. I sent photos to friends, family, coworkers. Everyone wrote back "that's not rough, that's disgusting." I felt confused because when I booked the lady bragged on the phone how lucky I was to be able to get an Eagles Roost, people book years in advance. I wish I wasn't so lucky! I was advised that they will update their cabins little by little in the near future. It's just sad that the people who are currently staying here have to pay such a high price to help fund the future cabins and this is what they get. Clearly by the looks of the cabin they have done any upkeep in the last few years, even a little touch up paint. The new cabins should have happened a lot sooner.

For the past 3 years, trying to make a reservation or make a payment with Knoebels is a frustrating…read moreexperience. When you call to either make a reservation or make a payment, it is an all day adventure. Getting someone on the phone takes hours. Today, I spent an hour on hold, then got into the que hold at about 9:30 am, then I called back in the afternoon to be put on hold again for over 30 min, then having not received a return call, I called again around 4:00 only to be put on hold again, for over 30 minutes. I also emailed Knoebels but received no response. If you do not make a timely payment then your reservation is cancelled.

I was looking for a place to stay while visiting my daughter at Bucknell University in central PA…read more I happened to find this place while googling a vrbo-type place and found this fabulous place to stay. This is our 2nd weekend to stay at this lovely cottage (used to be a barn) which has wonderful sleeping accommodations for many people. It's like a large studio with a kitchen, desk, dining area, bathroom, living room and bedroom. There's a TV with Direct TV, a stereo system, a bookshelf with books, DVD's and CD's. If there are more than 2 people staying, the owners add a twin bed. There's also a futon and a sofa sleeper for 1. In speaking with the owner, she really wanted to make this place as comfortable as can be and has added many amenities to make your stay comfortable. The refrigerator has jam, butter, peanut butter, fruit, yogurt, granola, orange juice to get your morning started. She also provides guests with bread or muffins in the morning. Of course there is coffee or tea ready to brew. When you wake up in the morning, you open up the blinds to a beautiful yard which you can wander around and enjoy the arbor swing. I wish I had discovered this place sooner because it's a wonderful and relaxing place to stay.

While essentially a single space, it is nicely divided into a separate bedroom area, a roomy living area and a comfortable kitchen. A large bathroom and a second bedroom complete the layout. The entire cottage is nicely decorated and is also very neat and clean. Both the bathroom and kitchen are well equipped and user friendly. A variety of snacks are provided. What also makes The Barn special is that it is definitely dog friendly. We always bring our small dog with us and he seems to enjoy the experience as much as we do. There is a basket of dog toys near the front door, dog treats are provided and two dog bowls are located in the kitchen area. Thus, both human and canine guests are warmly welcomed! Not only is the cottage itself a wonderful retreat but it is located on a beautiful piece of property that is very nicely landscaped and easily accessed. A well constructed concrete walk leads directly from the parking area to the front door. At the rear of the house, a sliding glass door opens onto the large backyard which slopes gently down to a beautiful meadow. Guests are invited to walk the property and we are always happy to do so. Despite the bucolic atmosphere, The Barn is very conveniently located. It is within a couple of miles of downtown Lewisburg, Bucknell University and a variety of stores and restaurants. Finally, the the owners, Tanya and Fred, are friendly, accommodating and clearly committed to providing their guests with a wonderful experience. I can honestly say that we've thoroughly enjoyed each visit and always look forward to our next stay. I wholeheartedly recommend The Barn at Pheasant Ridge to anyone visiting the Lewisburg area. The Barn and its owners are waiting to welcome you!

We booked this as a surprise to our 8&9 year old kids…read more I admit that I was skeptical at first. But that skepticism melted away once we got on the wagon and the guide (Jim) and Brad the driver began talking. We learned so much about the PA Grand Canyon in that 2 hour ride than I ever expected! They were light-hearted, jovial and just down right NICE! We took a 2:30pm ride and though we didn't get to see much in the way of local wildlife (eagles, bear) we did see a few doe. The Belgian horses they use are amazing. Beautiful "gentle giants". Being physically in the PA Grand Canyon is a beautiful experience in itself as well! Our kids really enjoyed the experience and we learned alot more than we would have if we just walked the trail ourselves! Worth the price of admission for sure!

Upon arriving at the property you are greeted with a feeling of warmth and peace. Everything from the porch with hanging swings to the inside décor makes you feel relaxed and at home. I stayed in the Lighthouse Room which is the perfect size for two people. The full size bed and fluffy pillows are comfortable and you'll sleep well. For breakfast Georgia makes delicious meals. Tuesday morning's menu consisted of a delicious egg soufflé, pancakes, bacon and sausage. There are other items from which to choose such as fresh fruit and cereal. You'll thoroughly enjoy conversations with Georgia and Reid, who are the perfect hosts and will make you feel like family.

(3:00am) During the World Series, plan on a long wait for service in the restaurant. The food is very good, and worth the wait. Plan on close quarters. Love thy neighbor! 15 minutes from the Stadium.
