This is probably one of the best located campgrounds along the river. The West branch is the clean side of the Susquehanna and boaters regularly come up here to tie off and enjoy the water. It is also located directly between Selinsgrove and Lewisburg. That makes it real handy for visiting Selinsgrove Brewing in Selinsgrove and Laughing Chameleon in Lewisburg. The people that camp here are what really makes it enjoyable. However this place also has its issues. The maintainance by the owners is horrible. We are always in fear of a tree or tree branches falling onto our campers. We have been without power at our site for most of the season do far. We are plugged into a site across the creek so we have power but none of the other 3 sites Ali g side us have power. There is no camp store here at all to get supplies from which just baffles my mind. And there are rarely ever any weekend campers that come in. It is usually just us seasonal campers. I could go on but will just stop there. With all that said we still love it here in spite of the ownership.

This used to be a nice fun place years ago, then the lack of ground maintenance and the owner's…read moreneed for personal involvement in guests' lives has run the place into the ground. Check out our shared photos showing the faulty electrical, unusable water, and general unsafe conditions where dead trees fall at any given time, and you will see why you want to avoid this place at any cost. Faulty wires and dangerous overloaded circuits cause several campers to have their electronics fried. 12 camping sites were told they couldn't use their air conditioners on the hottest days of 2018 because they had the circuits so overloaded you couldn't get more than 80 volts out of a 120 volt line. They literally tie extension cords together and run them to the tent sites for power! The water quality is 100% unusable. The river water is actually cleaner than the tap water. The owner likes to make 100's of rules and then travels from site to site gossiping about the other guests. Real professional way to run a business? The small group that she uses as her spies, however, has immunity to the rules and can do whatever they want. If you approach her with a maintenance issue or problems you are experiencing she throws her hands in the air and says "what do you want me to do about it?" We want you to fix it, that's normally what a groundskeeper does especially when you are paying almost $1600 a year, plus $400 for a boat dock that was pulled out weeks earlier despite the stated camping CONTRACT dates. They market it as family friendly but the playground is unsafe for kids. Every time another dead tree falls they chop it up and dump it in the playground lot. There is a huge pile of logs which has become habitat for snakes, raccoons and rodents. This is literally a few feet from where your children are supposed to play. The rats have even eaten holes through guests campers! Hopefully in the near future an investor buys it out and restores it back to what it once was, but at this point the place is so far gone it seems hopeless, and the owner could care less once she gets your check. There used to be a lot of great people there and everyone treated each other like family, but those days are gone since the owner has basically chased everyone away with her personal meddling and lack of professionalism. We camped there twice this summer and had enjoyable visits. The road leading to the campground is narrow and winding, but we didn't experience any trouble. Check in was a breeze as all the paperwork and payment were taken care of prior to arrival and all we needed to do was pick up our gate pass, map and head to the site. The employees in the front office are amazing and some of the friendliest you will meet. The other employees we interacted with during our stays were equally as friendly and helpful! Overall the sites are good sized, level and the majority have full hook-ups. The water pressure is good, electric stable, and good cable TV connections. There is no internet at the sites and only a moderate cell phone signal. Most of the transient sites are right next to each other with little barriers between. Tubs of wood can be delivered to the site and this good quality firewood! For $10 a load, stock up because it burns well with little obnoxious smoke. There are various activities each weekend during the summer, a huge pool, playground, mini-golf, and of course Penn's Creek to float. The one negative would be some of the seasonal sites do not feel the quiet hour times apply to them. Overall, Little Mexico is a nice campground in a beautiful location, with great people operating it!

So much so that when we found that campground booked for the summer we took the advice of a co worker and stayed at Fantasy Island nearby. If you're looking for a simple, affordable, fun for the kids camping retreat this is your spot. Located right on the Susquehanna the (seasonal) riverfront spots had their own boat slips. The rest of the campground wasn't wooded in the least which I appreciated, but the sites were pretty tight. Each site had a concrete patio and full hook up including cable and wifi - although I was unable to connect to the wifi (hubby did though). At only $42/night in the prime season the price couldn't be beat! The campground was small and simple with one bathhouse. It wasn't horrible but there were some critters. It was equipped with a table/chairs in front of a mirror for a makeshift vanity area to do your makeup separate from the sink. That was a smart touch. They also rented out one cabin. I didn't see any areas for tents. There were about 100 camp sites. They also had a playground and volleyball net. I was told that usually a food truck parks inside the premises. The store was small but did sell the essentials at a very good price. Imagine my surprise when I ran out of suntan lotion and picked up a full size tube of a kid formula spf 50 for only $2!!!! The dollar store costs more than that! They also had ice cream novelties ranging in price from .35 cents to a max of $2, flip flops and floaties were only a buck. They did close early at 7pm, but the attached rec room/gathering place/arcade combo was open at all hours. I noticed in the rec room they had bikes/scooters you could rent (we didn't inquire) as well as books. There was a big screen tv with dvd as well as a huge, comfortable leather sectional sofa. You could watch your movies there but they didn't supply dvds. A pool was present complete with a limited number of loungers and covered tables ranging in depth from 3-5'. It was so relaxing on the hottest weekend of the season and usually full of campers. The weekend of our stay was Christmas in July and they went all out. If you signed up your kids at the store Santa called their name and they got a baggie of goodies. The rec area was all decked out for the holidays complete with the tv set on a fireplace mood, complete with crackle noise effects. Several of the campers did elaborate Christmas displays. When I say this campground is simple, it isn't an insult. It's just enough stuff to unwind and have kids get back to being kids; playing on the equipment, swimming in the pool, and playing with other kids. While I do wish they had more activities scheduled, it was nice to just take it easy and let the kids play without a lot of shuffling around to make sure we do and see everything. They did have a potluck dinner the one night which we really enjoyed. The manager was super friendly and involved as were our neighbors who were all seasonal. Guests are free ($3 for pool use - get wrist band at store) and can stay till 10 pm, wish I knew that in advance as we would have had some friends come up for the day. From talking with the seasonals a spot is $1900 per season which runs April 15-Oct 15. At that time you must remove and dismantle your campsite (sheds, rocks, garden, outdoor décor, etc) as township doesn't allow campers to be kept there all year. You can get your same site back if you prefer. They do not rent golf carts. No dogs allowed in any of the buildings, pool area, and playground. As a non dog person I really appreciated that! Overall a very nice, clean, vintage feeling campground, one will we most likely return to when we want some downtime.

Unfortunately, the weather interfered with our ability to see as much as we had hoped, but we still had a great time! There is a nice visitor center with a variety of historic and nature info available, including some great info on the CCC work that took place in the park (there's a really nice interactive model of a CCC camp too) and how and where the park name is suspected to have been derived from. There is a real snake to look at, as well. A very nice playground is located nearby, and this section of the park also offers easy access to the Loysalsock Creek and the beach with a snack bar, plus multiple picnic tables and shelterhouses. It's beautiful even just to look at the valley walls and the creek itself. There are several gorgeous vistas available, some by foot and some by foot or car. We especially liked the Loyalsock Canyon Vista, which can be reached on foot or by car. It is located next to the Rock Garden, which is a very neat grouping of giant rocks and boulders that is a lot of fun to check out. The park also offers camping and plenty of trails. Worlds End is located within the Loyalsock State Forest, so there is also a lot more that one could explore in the area.

Big ups to maintenance and the camp hosts. 4) The camp hosts and visitors center personnel are fantastically kind and helpful. They obviously love this park. 5) Fun stuff like the Forksville General Store, Snack stands, swimming hike, Haystacks, Rock Garden, and all kinds of other interesting places to explore! I've been here with friends, with my family, and by myself, and I've thoroughly enjoyed each trip, so I'll definitely be back for more!

Japanese knotweed is not ideal. In fact I hope more native plants can thrive in this environment and restore some stability. Lots of doggos which is very fun! As long as the owners pick up the poop. I would say the worst part of my experience was getting some all over my right shoe, what a bummer! Even after that I managed to have a great time! My one critique is that one of the plaques says Quercus rubra instead of Quercus palustris, a minor detail but I can't not say something. Quercus palustris has pointer leaves and has top branches pointing up and lower branches pointing down. Im getting off topic... Anyway, Milton State park has some lovely history and although it is small and a changing ecosystem, there are some great things happening there. Keep your eyes out for native trees and plants because they are still here! Also watch out for flying soccer balls and running children... I used to play my youth soccer games here as a kid :)
