Driving backroads through Arkansas looked in Yelp for a place to eat lunch. Decided on the Wooden Spoon. Cute small restaurant in an old house. Seat yourself in one of the 4 rooms. The menu has plenty to choose from I picked the Pecos Chicken sandwich it was very good great flavor nice and hot. I added fries which were also good. My husband had the hamburger steak which was very big plenty of food. I took a few bites of his meal and it was very good. Service was fast and friendly. Had a few customers inside all seemed to be locals since they talked to each other. If you are in this small town, I would recommend you give Wooden Spoon a try. read more

Friday nights before h.s. football games is very busy time. Lots of community visiting. The staff are helpful, friendly and glad to see you. They do brisk take-out business as well. My first time but my family are semi-regulars. Service is fast, no long waits for food. Don't expect lots of fancy stuff in salads. They are good-size helpings and fresh produce.Can't complain about that! Our meals were quite good. Loaded potatoes are a thing to behold, could be a meal by itself, and are completely addictive. I highly recommended giving them a try, thought don't say you weren't warned! A nice place for a casual meal in friendly atmosphere. read more

OMG!!! This is an absolute MUST STOP and eat Everything and I do mean everything is made from scratch and delicious Full menu- breakfast, lunch and dinner- southern style cooking at its BEST Had coffee, fried mushrooms (fresh hand battered), chicken fried steak with fried okra and a homemade roll Hubby had fresh salsa and chips (salsa was made fresh and delicious) with a bacon double burger with homemade fried potatoes that were absolutely to die for Service was phenomenal- friendly, helpful and very attentive. We'll be making the 2+ hr drive to come back. Oh and homemade pie!!!!! Wonderful place- so glad we made the stop. read more

Just a very solid good southern meal. The three of us ordered quite a bit of food, some Mexican, some chicken fried steak, some fried fish, some apps including the tooth picks. We all enjoyed it. Well, five stars for basically the only resturant in town seems silly doesn't it? But, this place is a real gem in such a small area and always busy. The wait staff were terrific and everything we ordered was dang yummilicious! Home cooked food out of a home style kitchen was really welcome. This place is a converted home with shanty tables and chairs and a rugged crowd... but don't let it fool ya, it has some fierce chow! We were actually excited to have lunch there the second day (as outta towners) and found the portions plus flavor to be fantastic! read more

Loved this place. In an old house converted to a restaurant. Perfect down home cooking.

Comforting, home cooked meal. Now most small towns you go to that have one restaurant can and almost always are bland and friend. So pretty tasteless. This is not the case for the Wooden Spoon. I travel a great deal for my job, this is going to be one of my favorites. Their pies are good, not to mention the staff there makes you feel at home. Keep up the work Wooden Spoon. read more

This place should not be a 5 star rating. The food service is very slow if you order the mexican plates from the menu. Pretty much. The fastest things that come out are the specials because those are already cooked. The burgers are decent but completely loaded with butter on the buns. The onion rings are over cooked. The breading for it is just not good. The fries are not crispy. The fried okra is average. The salad dressing is given to you in a ketchup/mustard clear squirt bottle. This is pretty much one of the only restaurants in town so you have to eat here if you don't want to drive to Ashdown or New Boston or Texarkana. I was surprised how great this place was. The portions were huge we ordered fried Pickles and the breading was great. The nachos had A lot of meat and tons of beans and the meat was seasoned well - tasted good. Good portions. Recommend some music or something... The place was too quiet. read more

I am not one to write negative reviews, I just never go the place again. But I am going to write one today as we just left this restaurant after visiting an event in Texas and going through this town to make our way back home, which is also what we did two years ago with a somewhat different experience. The food was alright... too much salad dressing on the salad and entire meal on a little divider plate which was awkward. But we ordered the special which was to include dessert and after sitting and waiting a very significant amount of time (for a bill, as it was obvious a dessert course was not coming, which was fine) we went ahead and left, which is the only time we really got acknowledged again is when we was ready to pay. The waitress was soooo busy playing with a baby and visiting with obviously a family she knew that I think she forgot she was at work. I evened noticed locals snearing, smirking and having to request attention. Patrons left and said "bye,thanks" and she glanced at them. I was appalled by this woman's lack of customer service, small town or not. Even in small towns while visiting locals there is a limit to the visiting. I have never seen someone behave in this way and am quite shocked by it to be honest. She obviously loves babies (nonstop kissing, swinging, spinning), she might think about working in a daycare and not a restaurant. I would have loved a tea to go but not even an offer, had to get back to that baby I guess. read more
