I can't make the drive from Dallas just to get those ribs again, but it sure is tempting. It was my first time back in the south since I was nine years old and I wanted to have the real deal. Boy these did not disappoint! And the beans and Mac sides were amazing. You can do sauce on or sauce on the side. Like any bbq connoisseur, I opted for on the side. Ribs are amazing on their own, but a little sauce on them did take it to an even higher level. We were driving through Jackson on 55 and was looking over yelp for a place to stop. Ended up picking Woodhouse Grill. DO NOT PASS UP on this spot!!!! We had the rib plate and the sausage sandwich plate. I love ribs and these were by far THE BEST ones I've ever had. Sauce on the side which was also fantastic. A bit of a kick and a touch of vinegar. Wonderful! The sausage was outstanding. The smoke flavor was incredible and the correct amount of bread for the bun. We had for sides, Mac and cheese, baked beans, green beans and coleslaw. The rib plate came with a roll. The Woodhouse Grill is more or less a take out but they have a small dining area in back they let us use since we were on the road. Overall this was an amazing restaurant and one they can certainly brag about as being the best BBQ around! Thanks again Yelp! read more

Heard this place was really good, but was really disappointed. Good: the sauce was really good, a little tangy, sweet, probably honey based, thick, great sauce overall. Average: the Mac and cheese was average, probably out of a Kraft box. Not great, but definitely not bad. Bad: ribs were not good. I think it's supposed to be dry rub, but there's zero bark. I will say they got good smoke penetration with the smoke ring on the meat. But the ribs were TOUGH! Meat was bland, definitely no brine beforehand, not seasoned well. I had to gnaw at it and sent one of the ribs flying while trying to tear some meat off. Definitely could've spent another 2-2.5hrs in the smoker. You'll have to work to get the meat off the bones. If it's any indication of the quality, I left 2 ribs on my plate and I'm usually an absolute carnivore. Bread: just plain white bread, nothing special but also no complaints. Service: you order and they put it in a box so not really applicable. Half a star for the sauce, half a star for the price, but would not recommend ($11 for half rack and Mac and cheese) read more
