My husband and I visited Iron Horse Grille on Wednesday. The server Rhoda came to the table and greeted us. That young lady went through the opening, took our orders and suggested drinks and entrees. She suggested that we try the Navajo chicken with a salad and mash potatoes. She asked if we wanted a mix drink or House margarita. The building is a Jackson Landmark of Years gone by and worth seeing alone even without the great food and great service by Cordell B. The Ambiance is relaxed and entertaining with top notch Live Music. I enjoyed the appetizer sampler platter as well as a fresh garden salad with crumbled bleu cheese, both prepared fresh and were excellent! My main entree was the crab stuffed MS Delta Catfish fillet with a side of steamed broccoli. Nothing disappointed and thanks again to Cordell B. Service was quick, seated at the bar. Narrowed it down to ribs, chicken club or burger and went with chicken club after recommendation from bartender. Very good portion, but not as "hitting" as I expected. I held off on the guac but wish the sandwich would've had more of the ranch, pickles and I could've settled for a smaller chicken patty and extra piece of bacon. Fries were good but I added street corn and wasn't impressed. It was in a bowl, not on the Cobb and just had the cheese sprinkled on top. This place is a new go to when I am traveling in town. The service is extremely helpful and they give the best food recommendations due to such a large selection on the menu. The place has live music on the weekends. The chips and salsa were great! The seasoning on the chips are certainly addicting. Jarvis recommended that I get a chicken club and he didn't not disappoint. The chicken was juicy and had a great breading. The pickles on it were chefs kiss. The beverage selection was great and the local selection is tasteful. Price was very reasonable. If you're in the area check them out and ask for Jarvis. Stopped in for lunch when passing through. Got seated right away. Waiter was attentive. Drinks come in very large mason jars. It's an old building in downtown that's kinda industrial looking inside. Nice music playing that's not overly loud. There's a stage in the back corner, probably live singing at night. They service chips and salsa. The chips are seasoned and taste good. Salsa is like a mild picante brand salsa. We got the queso which was super thin and runny. Kinda like a velveeta with rotel in it. My husband got shrimp and grits which he said tasted amazing. Found this place while in town visiting. It's in a very cool building. The staff was very welcoming from the hostess to our waitress. Another waitress even checked on us to see if we were ok. We were told that they do live music starting on Thursdays which we missed but I wouldn't mind coming back. The complimentary tortilla chips were seasoned. I never had any like these but I couldn't stop eating them. It didn't take long for our food to arrive. I ordered lemonade and water not realizing how large the glasses were. I came for a large party birthday dinner. The private dining area was very quaint and just enough space for us to be secluded from the main dining but large enough for us to mingle and enjoy our dinner. Even with it being a large party, the food came out quick, hot and delicious. I ordered the habanero shrimp pasta with extra sauce. The servers were fun loving and organized. People arrived at different times and they were still able to keep up with the orders and food placement. I have been here several times and one thing I love is they change the menu every six months; so you never get exhausted from the same menu. Definitely recommend for large party dinners. read more

Fantastic experience today! I came for lunch with my best friend, and we both enjoyed it so much. Our server, Tawanta, was THE BEST! She was very friendly, attentive, and fun to talk to! :) I got the catfish and loved it, and my friend got the porkchop lunch special. She liked hers too! We finished it off with the "Chef Pierre's Dessert Trio". It had a small portion of 3 of their best desserts: praline cheesecake, brownie, and bread pudding. OMG!! My husband and I was in Jackson today for his job and one of his co-workers told us to go by and try this restaurant so by the time we made it to Jackson it was lunch time so we stopped by. From the time we walked through the door the service was excellent! We were greeted with a smile and didn't have to wait. We were taken right to a table. The server came with a smile and got our drink order and food order. I don't think we waited 15 minutes for our order. It was hot and fresh and oh so good! We both got the lunch special grilled pork chops with 2 sides and a roll. The server kept checking on us to make sure we were good and if we needed anything and after we finished our meal the manager even came by to ask if everything was okay. The seasoned house chips were absolutely incredible! After a long day of travel they were the perfect start to our meal. I had the crispy chicken fajitas and it was a TON of food, I really liked it and had enough for almost 3 meals. I tried a side of street corn which I did not care for, it was soupy and lacked seasoning and tasted more like canned corn with a sprinkle of cojita. My friends got surf and turf and the pork chop dinner, both noted that their meats were pretty dry and over done. I paid my bill in cash and had to ask the server twice for my change and when she finally brought it she did not include the coin change which was nearly 75¢. read more

Sunday brunch is usually a hit here. Made to order omelets, waffle bar and a small breakfast buffet with grits, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage. However, today, I decided to order off the menu. Ordered the sampler platter, which came with 3 soul train wings, one southwestern eggroll, fried broccoli and a bbq chicken quesadilla. The fried broccoli was delicious, as long as it's hot. Once it gets cold, it's not as good. The wings are usually good but they were a little too spicy today. The eggroll was tough, like it had been refried or something. Flavor was good but just too tough. The quesadilla would have been good if it had been hot. I started eating it last so that's no fault of the restaurant. The chips and salsa every table gets is the best! That homemade salsa is the best in Jackson. Service was good. We got here before the crowd did so we didn't have a wait for a table. Band was setting up and by the time he was ready to play, we had placed our order and could enjoy the music. Only thing I wish is they would add a patio so outside seating is available. read more

The atmosphere at this place is fun, and loud, and freeing. It's an enjoyable place to be and I suspect that this is why it seems to be consistently jumping. The menu has a lot of options; most things we ate were fine, a few were mediocre, and one was great. The complimentary tortilla chips and salsa are actually fantastic, as is the queso with ground beef. Everything else we had was just okay. We came here twice while in town. Both servers were polite and got our orders right but overall, service was clunky. For example, food served no silverware, serving a burger and fries with absolutely so condiments for either. I chose where to eat based on where I could walk from my hotel. This was a great find. I asked my server for recommendations on what to get because I couldn't decide. She recommended the fajitas and a cocktail called honeysuckle blues. One of the best cocktails I've ever had in my life! It was sweet, but not too sweet and strong, but not too strong. The fajitas were definitely more than I could eat and were delicious. But the best part was that there's a museum upstairs with wax figures and music history. It was absolutely amazing! Eat Here! The Food and Service is Great! We came on a busy Saturday Night, and parking lot was very full but we were able to find a parking spot. Our Family of 7 had a reservation and were seated promptly by the host and server. We had a wonderful Server Gina, who was kind and fast with our order. She went above and beyond helping my wife with our unhappy one year old and brought her crackers and mints to help distract her while waiting for food. The Food! Chips are heavily seasoned which tasted great. Do not pass up the Seafood Dip appetizer, it was the Best out of all the dishes! The appetizer sampler had a big variety, the chicken was seasoned great in both the quesadillas and southwest egg rolls, the chicken wings had a tasty after heat that sneaks up on you and the fried broccoli was delicious. The Iron Horse Grill was excellent, service, atmosphere, and food were all great. We had a late lunch and my wife and I shared the chicken fajitas. It was more enough. We wanted to order a side of fried okra but the waiter suggested that we could substitute the okra for either the beans or rice so that saved us $4! Everything came out hot and everything was very tasty. As we were leaving we spoke with the manager and took us upstairs to see the Rock and Roll museum with very realistic looking mannequins of Elvis, BB King and a bunch of early blues and rock stars. A great casual dining spot! Came here from the recommendation of a local. I really admire the ambiance and was surprised by the live music playing. There was complimentary chips with salsa. Thought the service can be a little quicker, the food came out quickly. Overall, the service was commendable. The chicken fajitas were delicious at a great price. The highlights for my group included the okra, fried fish with tartar sauce, and rolls with butter. I ordered the stuffed catfish fillets. While tasty, the fillets were a bit smaller than I expected.
